I live in California and the state has surprisingly an aggressive stand on these exact type of lenders and payday advance dirt bags. This situation I believe needs to be brought to the Attorney General in the respective jurisdiction. It is a business established to defraud and obtain an asset that is very unique and has no real limit to its potential value. !!!!! Regarding the disclosure/confidentiality statement briefly stated. Is VOID ....!!! Criminals will try anything... you are a victim and why keep quiet..??
I would imagine that California would have more significant consumer protections. The the states involved in this particular example were in the mid-continent area, and the situations were truly awful for the mineral owner. In this case, it was reported to the Attorney General, but I don't know if they ever investigated or if anything came from it.
