The Chevrolet Spark is a big step forward when you compare it to the Matiz which it replaced. The bold nose and angular shape is designed to appeal to younger buyers, but in reality the Spark looks fussy compared to rivals such as the Hyundai i10. Power comes from a choice of two petrol engines - 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre - and both can return more than 55mpg. Considering how small the Spark is, passenger space is good, but the boot is small. And while the cabin looks smart, the hard, shiny plastics that it's made from feel cheap.
I rented it for 2 weeks....loved it....small, cute, responsive, efficient, fast enough..
Very impressed with this review, your best one yet! The whole review felt like you were reviewing the car with us instead of reading off a script. And even a bottle test! Brilliant!

Finally Finally Finally someone who gets in the backseat in their review!!
cept shes 5ft tall and the front seat is forward cause she set it for herself, its not adult room in there
id get her in the back seat anytime lol
Shes done it many times on a dark and wet night LOL
We have a 1.2L which is soon to be my first car. It actually is pretty fast. I would say we did 0 - 60 in about 8 or 9 seconds today. My brother used it for a 80 mile daily journey (there and back) every day for 5 days a week for 2 years. It has never broke down, starts the best out of all 4 cars we have and is very comfortable. Yes, it is a bit noisy but the speaks are amazing so that makes up for it. This car isn't expensive, but it is well made, reliable and a real good companion.
The fact that there are more likes than dislikes by a good margin says it all. You're doing a great job, and we learn a lot from your reviews!
Bought one recently and I love it, lots of room, so easy to drive (no regrets at all) will be def hanging onto this for a good while :)
Hi there , hows it doing 2 years later ? as im thinking of replacing my awful Mitsubishi colt with one ?
@@christineayres5339 don't if you already changed your car but I've had mine for 5 years with zero problems.
My long-gone 1984 Mitsu Colt (actually bought as a Plymouth Colt) was the most fun-to-drive car I've ever driven. It had the same horsepower as the Spark (84) but back then cars weighed less than 2100 pounds and that was plenty. Handled superbly and could be parked anywhere.
just bought one of these, must admit it is the best car ive driven, so light and is a lot bigger than it looks inside! everything is so easy to find, thanks to the review which helped make up my mind
what mpg do you get
I love the styling on the Spark, good review
I think she's really been improving, each video gets smoother and better for her. Good job!
Awesome review as always. Thank you for all you do.
I actually test drove the new one...this is awesome for a college kid. I loved it :3
She's getting much better, well done!
Wish they could do a 2013 Chevy Spark review. That's the one I'm driving now and it is a beast. Love it. For starters, the thing I love the most is the humongous amount of space the driver gets, and it's actually way taller than most of the other cars, so you don't have to squat to get in and out. (I'm 6ft tall, btw)
Could be my next car? Just brought it as my first car!
actually quite spacious in the back with the driver seat right against the steering yea
Chevy spark is great for someone who wants a small car thats good on gas and not lot of miles. It fits 4 adults and one small kid. It is roomy inside. Not a luxury car. But if ypu need economical reliable and depenable car.
Getting better and better everytime I see your video Rebecca! She is great.
Those headlights are effing huge! First car I've ever seen where you can touch the headlights from your driving seat (if you roll down the windows obviously)
That jacket is from New Look :)
6 airbags? on all models? wow, in Mexico they only offer front airbags and abs on the top model :(
I heard you need a bullet proof car in your place, must be why airbags are optional
Well, media tend to exaggerate the situation in other countries, so it's not your fault to assume this.
Truth is, i have never been near a gun fight ever!
Greetings ;)
It's to do with Euro NCAP
The car has a good crumple zone.
And the driver/passenger compartment stays intact in a frontal collision up to 40 mph.
Also the pedals retract upon impact so you won't lose your toes.
Airbags are mandatory in the USA and Europe. You should initiate the same standards in your country.
I chose this car in 2012 because it has side(curtain) airbags. Those served me well in my Volkswagen when I got hit in the side on the driver's seat by a reckless driver running a red light.
My whole left side was bruised and felt like someone beat me up. However my head only felt a little shaken. The impact was strong enough to make me black out for about a minute. Without the side airbags I would have had a concussion or worse. Direct side impact can easily kill you...
Very good review. Well done. I wish the car didn't look like the Tata Nano, but there's something out there for everyone.
the reason matt does a better review is, when she does a review im not paying attention to the car im to busy looking at her shiny ear rings
Love the extra confidence! You're growing on me.
Its a nice and quick review. In india we get Deasel model too
well, actually is a good option if u are looking for a small and cheap car.. I've tested it so deep and I can say it's as good as Suzuki Swift but no as Seat Ibiza, also it is well build, you can find some or several noises in the Swift that will make u crazy.
It's been 2 months since I left that comment. All of those factors have been brought to mind. I am now thinking of getting a 2004 Chevrolet Impala.
This car is really popular in Denmark - and the only downside to that is when you come to sell it on, because it's so cheap the resell price is going to be very, very low.
And the new has very nice interior.
Surprised ESC is optional in the UK, that wouldnt fly here (and it doesnt, our Spark comes with ESC standard, just checked). Dacia was the last manufacturer to pull that stunt and they were torn to shreds in the press. And lo and behold, a short time later ESC was standard equipment, even on Dacias. ESC cuts accidents by such a drastic margin it should be mandated on all new cars regardless of size.
Huge windscreen? I don't know...
Before my Spark, I had an Opel Agila. Just a tiny bit bigger car overall, but the windscreen was massive compared to the Spark's.
Its not in any way difficult to see around you, but the inside of the car felt very dark compared to the Opel. Not enough light getting through.
If you're looking into one of these older Sparks, go for the one with an open sunroof. Does wonders over the summer.
Yeah, it's a nice car, but she's flattering it. It is actually difficult to see around, especially on tigh corners where these huge pillars block your wiev, so you have to lean forward to see where you going.
the 2009-present Chevrolet Spark/ Daewoo Matiz Creative (South Korea)/
Chevrolet Spark GT (Chile, Ecuador and Colombia)/
Chevrolet Spark Eco Logic (Italy)/ Chevrolet Beat (India)/
Holden Barina Spark (Australia) is assembled in
Changwon, South Korea
Talegaon, Maharashtra, India
Asaka, Uzbekistan
Bogotá, Colombia
great review
Stateside we're lucky enough to get a 1.4 turbo option. That makes it quite a sprightly little thing for a microcar.
Got one of these ready for me at the and of the month, I'm excited, moving from a 51 plate Peugeot 106 so I'm looking forward to it I've driven a Chevvy Matiz as a courtesy car and I liked it it felt alright but this defo looks better!
I wonder if this car had manual roll up windows instead of power windows would the price drop from 12k to 10k. This would be a great 10k$ car.
she looks really short. I agree she is not bad, but Matt is the man.
However Chevrolet has Beat [Spark in EU & USA] Diesel 1.0 L option in India. And I bought Beat Diesel. Pretty car.
Would this car be suitable for a first time driver?
I am a first time driver, had this car since August and I love it, that's with lots of motorway driving too.
TheRandomKady i want one as well ☺
TheRandomKady This is my car and I only passed this year it’s great
Lucy Blackford if you don’t mind me asking what year is it from and does your car have the aux plug whole things ?
@@astrowor I have a 2014 manual, driven around 59k km by now. I got Bluetooth and Aux, the aux makes a hissing sound when it's plugged in for me. My car was a rental, and what im about to say might have something to do with it. It drives absolutely terrible. Power stops in 1st gear around 2k revs, while revs keep going up. Making for a very slow stopping and going. It's very difficult to put it in gear and releasing the clutch without the car doing a ''hickup'' (Dont know what the word is, it rarely goes smooth into gears without taking a very long time releasing the clutch, and sometimes jerks even when i do it as smooth as pissible). And the suspension is absolutely horrible, way to stiff for a car with seats which barely hold you in place. I drove a 2002-2005 VW Bora, with a messed up transmission, and a engine swap. It drove at least 5 times better.... the suspension was great, easy to take off, no power limiter in 1st gear, and NOT EVEN CLOSE to as much road noise. No jerks, aside from when i was first learning the clutch. Didn't even have to try to change gears smootly.... Save up you money and buy something a bit nicer, or just buy an older car for the same amount. 10 times better
Obama: As the people are interested
I will choose to answer
their questions with a trip
from Washington to Miami.
Briden, Erickson, Foxx, Kerry: On the Chevrolet one, two, three Spark
numbers replaced unpublishable words.
Obama: Too bad that I didn't think right away
of bringing along the directors of General Motors.
I would have asked them about those "numbers".
Briden, Erickson, Foxx, Kerry: Question about the one, two three Spark.
Numbers replaced unprintable words.
I've seen all the bickering about Matt vs Rebecca for these reviews. I personally believe that both have their own styles but as long as the review covers the points of interest to potential buyers then surely that is job done. The only criticism I would make, and I hope it would be taken in a positive light, is that I find Rebeccas hand gestures quite distracting from the car itself as they keep coming in and out of camera shot. Apart from that keep up the good work.
The US version doesn't have a middle seat in back Nice review
The back seat is obviously going to be spacious when u push it so much to the front..
Can i request for you to do another Chevrolet Spark review of the new model please ... I feel with this one its just nitpicking all the tiny little details and to be honest would put anyone off buying it
thanks :)
Nice Review.....Like it😉
Power windows up front, but roll up windows at back is kinda wonky.....but I guess it helps keep costs down.
First i was thinking "what the ffff is he going on about. Civic is one of the sharpest looking cars out there, it's a toy spaceship! extremely rare on the street, and costs almost like two SEATs or Peugeots". And then i discovered that EU Civic has nothing at all in common with the models abroad, which look... like an Opel/Vauxhall of 15 years ago.
Ok guys, we know it, Mat Watson is a better reviewer, but Rebecca is also really good. So it´s still a good review.
This channel is for car reviews, Matt is great doing that, but maybe he needs to move on to better things in life, Rebecca is quite pretty and a good racer, knows about cars, needs a little of practice but so far she is doing great!!!
Wow apik tenan mobile...
a suburban and tahoe arent known for their fuel economy. And theyre really hard to park if you live in an urban area. trucks/suv's arent known for theyre handling either. Have you looked into a Ford Crown Victoria if you dont want to drive a small import? Theyre actually longer than a tahoe, safe, reliable if you go for a 2004+ one, better fuel economy, good handling (with the CVPI), and extremely cheap to insure, and have a nice v8 sound.
@RussMusiq1 The vast majority of cars bought in the UK are manual transmission. Traditionally manuals have been more popular. I don't have stats for you unfortunately. At a guess I'd say roughly 5% to 10% of new cars bought are automatics - depending on the type of car of course, so the exact opposite to USA.
She is 5' 4 and 1/2. source: check out her video review of chevy captiva :)
this is the car I want to get but I'm confused is this the 2011 version or 2012 ???
you know??
Deawoo matiz->chevrolet spark
Correction, Daewoo Matiz -> Chevrolet Matiz -> Chevrolet Spark.
maybe Matt became the camera man!!
looks better than a versa
This thing wasn't that bad. Given it's RIDICULOUSLY low price, I haven't any complaints.
@leeboyy1
It's not that we don't like her; it's just that she is not as good as Mat. Her voice sounds as if somebody is telling her to 'act harder' and she doesn't show things properly. No mention about rear visibility, turning circle and manouverability, which are quite important for such a car. I know those are details, but that's what makes Mat better.
get over Matt people, I miss Matt but this lady is pretty and does a good job so lets just accept the change and move on
sorry but Matt is just a better reviewer. Not that she is bad, it's just some of these cars are so mundane and it really takes someone like Matt to make the reviews interesting. She is too the point and informative, just not as exciting or enthusiastic as Matt.
hmmm I was looking for Mat Watson's review, but she's good too.
Chevy hit it right with the pricing unlike Scion IQ which is too expensive
Nice review....:)
So wait a/c doesn't come standard in the uk or Europe
In my country this car it selled expensive without airbags and the Uk costumers have 6! :s
I got a feeling James May is gonna like this car...
Watching this video and that of the Aveo makes me wonder if Carbuyer got themselves a new sponsor (besides Ford of course).
i wonder if front headlights could be bigger, its just ridiculous
From the front, it looks like a hamster
@Marsternelle4 Best Selling car in Denmark I believe.
If a car this size can't get 40 mpg or better I aint interested. The only reason why I would consider buying a car like this is for better mileage.
Nice
@carbuyer Please make a review on the fj cruiser
I prefer a second hand honda/toyota/mazda/vw/audi/bmw/mercedes/... You get the idea.
how can u forget to mention annoying position of side-windows switches as one of the biggest downside???
Leg room?? The seat looks like it was pushed forward..
Agree!
The biggest problem of this car is the price (in America). The difference between a Elantra or a Civic and a Spark is only approx. $1000. How desperate are you to save a $1000 for 3 feet of car?
Has the Chrysler Ypsilon ever been tested? If not can you test it? Ta much.
Its just so odd to see the steering wheel on the right side.
BMW 3-Series 2012 review, please!!
I have Beat Diesel.
Beat petrol is better cuz beat diesel cause engine damage
yes its true, do you merry me? :)
but can it fit a snowboard ?
wow! the car is almost as tall as she is!
It was going good until the last 30 secs than that turn out to be pure sales pitch.
I have just bought a new Ford Fiesta, it's superb!
Shes easily better than the man who does it normally. And she aint bad to look at.
I got bored of this. Matt's reviews are so much more interesting but were still serious
Well done sis
weird camera angle it looked like an suv next to her.
I drove the chevrolet spark the other day, I couldnt believe how bad it was to drive. I expected an ok drive but it was horrific. The gear box and stick feel like a poor one from the 90's or a transit van, words cant describe how much I detest this car
@DGGulgen I never said she was a better choice, and Matt’s style I liked. But if he’s gone then we should all just move on and accept it and give the new presenter a fair chance instead of judging her for being someone else
OK girl. To the homosexual community, you won't be able to match Mat in the cuteness stakes, but am really liking your no bullshit, direct presentation. Am glad you're still there, even though its a shitty car, and that Mat has returned........girl power! xx
Her leg room is always huge coz she isn't that tall, so it isn't so informative for us, taller guys. But still, she can make a nice review.
I like your voice, British acsend 😆
Matt seriously needs to be the ONLY one for carbuyer! In my opinion Rebecca does not speak car specs as well as Matt does and she is just toooo serious about the job, have some fun Rebecca! :) just sayin...
Yeah there's plenty of leg room in the back if the seat is all the way forward
Rebecca is only 5ft 4.5, which is not accurate for back seat knee room test. Even worse when the front seat is at her driving position.
