I’m an avid Marvin Gaye fan since ‘82 and this is the first time I’ve heard this extended version of the song. Simply beautiful! Grown folks music fa sho.
@@AlexAtuh he was probably a baby or young kid then and heard Marvin on the radio and was hooked from th start like i was, i was jammin to Marvin Gaye since i was 3 and 4 years old, i was exposed to and had access to all music since i was a tot and preschooler aged on up. i bought cassettes with my allowance when i was in elementary school as i was a big music nut from the young years on up.
It's so otherworldly!......he's my absolutely favorite male vocalist and arranger....he was touched by God spirit....and always had soulful musicians with him....
I first heard this back when I was 15, I couldn’t get enough of it, I’m 28 now and an old soul, and I still can’t get enough of it, just a groove that’s contagious. Soul music never really died, it’s not a genre it’s from the heart to reach the heart. When you take words, melodies, irresistible, insatiable grooves, slow or fast, and sing it from the depths of your heart, that’s soul. Soul music lives on now because the human spirit never dies. Mr. Gaye was the Master and the truth, people my age even groove to his music, he was the man. Mad respect and continue to Rest In Peace (1939-1984) ❤️😊🎶🎶🎶🎶 #SOULLivesOn
Only recently discovered this track, but what a classic song 😍 Marvin Gaye was such a cool artist, very sensitive to the issues of his day that still resonate today, both the music and the issues 🙏🏽 Very ahead of his time 💕
Mesmerizing. I just heard it a few days ago for the first time. It is really good. The further into the song was it became amazing to me. Sweet in every sense of the word. Oh so Marvin Gaye on another level. I dedicate this to my beautiful friends and my sweetheart. I hope they will soon hear this, for sure they will love it. I grows on you. Thanks for introducing this to us. RIPP. Marvin Gaye.
Marvin Gaye ain't lost if you are in tune Marvin Gaye's made the road map out for our lives he will always be missed and remembered I walk and I listen to him every day thank you thank you thank you Marvin and I love you
You know it's ironic that you said that. For some reason, when I'm feeling down or just laid back in deep thought Marvin Gaye (for some reason) is the only artist that I listen to.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST VOCALIST...HE GOT MORE OUT OF HIS VOICE THAN ANY SINGER...FALSETTO,SMOOTH TENOR,AND THROATY WHEN HE WANTED TO BE...MANY TONES AND KNEW HOW TO USE THEM!
Marvin Being Marvin Doing His Thang. Much Love, Honor And Respect. Gone But Never Forgotten I See And Hear You Every Day. RIP MOTOWN'S HEAVENLY PRINCE💋💋💋
.....still the best ....Marvin the Master .... future generations will look back him..that's where it all came from...like Coltrane, Miles, Ellington.... ❤
The original version of "Life's A Game of Give and Take" from the "In Our Lifetime?" sessions. The tapes/reels had ended up in a private collection and were UNLABELED!!! The person just happened to listen to them one day and had an "OH, S###, I THINK THIS IS MARVIN GAYE!" moment. They made a phone call and the rest is history. The entire original sessions could have ended up in the trash.
Me and the compadres found this one on our own when we first heard the album version. This deserved to be put on the album. Nonetheless, "Marvelous" Marvin gets the job done miraculously with this here. This jam is dope, I had to bring it back to just listen to the chords and melody changes throughout. The band is awesome. Yeah, give this an A++ family. Long live the genius of Marvin Gaye.
TRY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH GORDON BANKS IF U R REALLY SERIOUS, CAUSE THATS WHO THAT IS, I CAN DIG IT CAUSE HE HAD ME WANTING TO PLAY BASS IN 81 WHEN I GOT HIP TO THIS ALBUM, AND CHECK THIS I DIDN T BELIEVE THIS WAS REALLY A MARVIN ALBUM CAUSE THEY DIDNT PROMOTE IT AT ALL, AND I BOUGHT IT FOR 1.98 IN A RECORD STORE!!!! I GOT IT HOME AND WHEN I PLAYED "PRAISE" I DAMN NEAR JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW IT WAS SO GOOD, BUT MOTOWN WAS MAD AT MARVIN AND HE AT THEM AS WELL, BUT THATS HIS BROTHER IN LAW ON BASS.
@@charlesstevens6705Actually Frank Blair is the bass player's name. Gordon is my uncle and was also Marvin's lead guitarist, band leader/music director and yes brother in law. Frank Blair also was the bass player for the late Robert Palmer.
This is what got me through the Army in 69 / 71 and I met my wife of 44 years and we wish it was being played for the younger generation. This is true music!☘🍀

It's not a remix. This is the original version that Mr. Gaye wrote and recorded with the intention of doing a serious album. But he realized he had to battle newer cats like Teddy Pendergrass, Frankie Beverly, Prince & Rick James for his fans, so he regrouped and decided to make a straight ahead funky dance album. He changed the lyrics to every song he'd recorded for it, including this one.
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing you can hear him young man girls still wanted him because of who he was time changes everything Linda j peace still love him a loving fan ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯💯💯🐻🐻🌈

No one like him. There is so much complexity in the simplicity of all he does. Saying he's the the greatest is so small.
This song is a masterpiece. The bass, horns, and congas on this song are FIRE! Simply amazing.

Another untouchable hit from the archives of Marvin Gaye. Unbelievable how some of the greatest people in history are no longer here today.
Marvin Gaye (1939-1984)🙏🙏🙏
Michael Jackson, Prince, David Bowie.
Mentally, I can see my mother and father dancing too this hypnotic groove. Thank you Marvin for helping in my arrival.
