Fun Fact: Winston Smith is 39 in the book. George Orwell's son was 39 in 1984. George Orwell's wife died unexpectedly at age 39. This year, it has been 39 years since 1984.
It is a dangerous book. It like shattered my mind into pieces and i just couldn't stop thinking about it for days after reading it. Lack of empathy, love, emotions, curiosity in that world surprised me. It was sad that in the end party got Smith too. Hey would love to get summary of heart of darkness too. It is complex.
Yeah, George Orwell was a master at making a reader think, and he's good at using dark endings to accomplish this. Have you seen V for Vendetta? I think of that as a kind of retelling of 1984 with more of a hero's ending. Also, I've been meaning to read Heart of Darkness for a while. Thanks for a good push in that direction, I've got to get to it now :)
Amazing video, and I love George Orwell. I haven't read any of his books although he is rather infamous for his novels! I might buy this one and give it a read! Thank you. The only thing I'd criticize on this video is your confidence. Boost it up! Sound energized and pleased! Try different camera shots, too, or like subtle zooms. Other than that, great video.
This is a great question, and I'm not sure. If you're looking for a simpler read that's still an amazing read, I would highly recommend Animal Farm, also by George Orwell. It's a simple story, but it's one of those I have read many times and will keep rereading. George Orwell was a genius.
For the most part, Orwell uses fairly plain language. I read a translated version of the book (into my native Norwegian) at a quite young age -- about twelve, I think -- and I guess the translation was not much different from the original in the "level" of complexity as regards language. There were a few difficult words, such as "proletarian" (the translation wrote out "prole" in full), but even as a kid I had no problem following the story. I think I was rather proud of myself for being able to read and essentially understand such a "dark and serious" book even at a young age.

Thank you for the video! Your voice is excellent and really soothing.
Thanks! I've been told that when I out loud from a dry history book, I can soothe people right to sleep :)

Thanks! And thanks for the feedback. I've been thinking along these lines myself lately...

Hi , great video . I have a question, is the book easy to read ? Because English is my second language and my level is not quite there yet.

@Cenindo Thank you, my friend . After what you have said, I am more excited to read it .
You should be a therapist. Your voice is like butter. I've had this book in my TBR for so long. I guess it's time to read it.
Haha, thanks! I met Robert Dugoni once at a writer's conference and he said I should be a radio announcer :)
