I like that heater and stove. Very compact and perfect for my 2 door Jeep TJ! I think I will have to check them out. Beautiful scenery and a great video...
Geez its so cold I have to wear an over coat and scarf just to watch the video, just cant wait till you get the fire started. That chain saw must be a life saver.
Just got back from my own overlanding adventure and pop open the laptop and BAM!! There’s a new Coyote Works video to watch. Perfect timing sir lol Now I get to watch my favourite UA-camr while planning my next adventure lol WOOHOO!!! Lovin it!! Cheers mate and happy trails
My dear friend, from what I see, you really like Mexican food. Two tips, one, when you go to make the pork carnitas with the sauce, first heat the sauce and then add the meat. That gives it better flavor. Two, when you do it at home, first add milk to the pan and add the pork carnitas, that will make them softer and juicy. Then you add the sauce you like. At the end of the burrito you can add a few drops of lemon and some cilantro and onion. It will be delicious. Keep enjoying your trips and I will continue to see them. Greetings.
Watching you prepare good meals always reminds me to do the same when I’m camping, as half the experience is cooking-and, yes, cleaning-to make delicious meals to enjoy! Thanks for the adventure!
I always learn something when I watch this channel. Love that about it. I do wish you would have a nice nightcap drink or beer before you went to bed, can't see camping without doing that at least a little bit, but other than that I love the channel.
Love your laid back style videos! Just now getting into overlanding. Looking to take my first trip soon! Your channel gave me inspiration. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I've had that little heater for a few months now and it works very well. One word of caution though, it won't work correctly upside-down. On our last adventure we were setting up the tent in the dark. I was just using a flashlight and had turned the handle down and the support leg up. They open and look very similar. Anyway, after two minutes it would start "belching" out huge flames and the fuel sounded like it was flooding the unit. I tried several times and shut it down. The next morning I realized my screw-up, and tried it turned over correctly with no problems, for hours. You wouldn't think it would make a difference, but it does.
Trail Adventures USA Actually, I don’t know. I generally run it for 5 or 10 minutes, as I am getting ready to go to bed, then shut it off. If it gets really cold in the middle of the night I will reach over and fire it up for another three or four minutes, then when it’s nice and toasty I shut it off. First thing in the morning I crank it off and let it run for about five minutes. In other words, it doesn’t take much for it to heat up the tent and I have the Smittybilt XL.
Skippy Lippy I was beginning to worry about Casey. Haven’t seen one of his videos in a while. But it has been really cold out there. And I’m sure he feels the anxiety to put out contact for us all. I know the feeling. It’s tough having a UA-cam channel sometimes

Yeah I’m with you. I hope she doesn’t mess things up too much for those of us over here on the east side of the state. I’ve always had in the back of my mind that someday I might move to Burns. It would sure make a great jumping off point to explore a lot of the areas I like. Cheers!
Yup, I too have used those butane cans and I too have had to stuff them in.... neoprene beer coozies and stuff them in my sleeping bag so I could make coffee in the morning. And I had two and it was so cold I had to keep changing them out of the stove when they got too cold to keep my flame high enough to get my water to boil and heat the whole stove up enough to keep the canister warm. Eventually successful but a pain in the patootie. I now keep a twig stove as a backup or an isobutane can which is a little more forgiving of very low temps. No one stove, or one fuel type is perfect for all conditions so I keep my options open! Thanks for another great trip you have shared! I have less free land to explore out here in Maryland but I still like to take my jeep and pack it up with my dogs and various gear and go camp for several days mostly in the fall and spring! I'm loving that new heater you showed! And I'm actually thinking about maybe a hot tent some time so I can plunk down in a place for 5 days in the winter and be able to warm the tent to keep me and my dogs happy for nice winter camp! Safe and happy travels to you!
I have a trick for you. Get a few of those disposable hand warmers that you shake up and then they heat up. Like the Hot Hands brand. Open one up, activate it, and then rubber band it to your butane canister. Works magic on them. And those disposable hand warmers last 8 0r 12 hours depending on the brand so one will last most of the day. Cheers!
@@CoyoteWorks01 Never thought of that! You're a peach! Thanks! I'll have to try it. I always keep an emergency package of them in my 'tinker box' as I call it of things to fix things, kind of like a mini tool box but for camping oddities like batteries, a spare head lamp, tent lamp and such.

Thanks for another great video!! Love coming on some cool adventures with you from the 100 degree swamps of Houston, TX, where there is no snow, trails, or overlanding.
Another excellent video! Your story-telling and videography skills are great Casey. Thanks for the work you put into these and for bringing us along on your adventures!
Good to see you Casey! I was literally thinking about you an hour ago, thinking it was time for a new video. Spring and dry is on the way! I do hope for some more snow pack before then however, we are way down on moisture for the Cascades and the west side. The song dogs welcoming the morning was pretty cool. The sunrise shot at 20:04 is really good, great light balance!
You can also use a saws all while you save up for the chain saw lol I’ve been using mine for years. You just need the correct blades. It’s not perfect but it works in a pinch. Throw a 10” 12” blade in it and you can cut just about anything. Cheers

@coyote works it would be a honor my friend to be there. I will stay in touch with u and as soon as i plan my trip i will msg u. Safe travels and will talk soon.
Hey Casey! Cool video, always appreciate them. Firestarter tip: Frito's corn chips and a Bic lighter. Light a few, they'll stay lit because they are deep-fried cornmeal, then add twigs to get your campfire going. Looks like the new stuff worked great for you. I use the small Coleman propane bottles since they are available "everywhere"... but, I'll look to see how available the butane bottles are before considering swapping fuel sources. I did like how small the heater and burner were, though. Good looking dinner and breakfast, and nice idea of planning meals using the same ingredients multiple times. Glad you found another new homestead to add to your quest. Very interesting work you are doing and I enjoy following along. Makes me slow down and look at the land here in AZ and wonder what life was like 150 years ago in the rugged desert and mountains. Take care, my friend, and enjoy! Pete - KI7LIL
Peter Kunka I have often used that corn ship method. Great tip. In regards to the butane burner. I noticed that he used a wind guard.. And hadn’t noticed Casey ever need to use one in the past. Also there was no comment on how long the heater lasted with one butane canister. If it doesn’t last at least seven hours. You would have to get up and change it in the middle of the night. Same thing with the Mr. buddy heater. They only last about 3 to 4 hours.
@@easttennessee6096 I hear ya. I went to the grocery store today and they only had coleman propane bottles... no butane. I'll keep my eye out and when both products are on the shelf I'll do a comparison of price vs size to see if there is any value in swapping fuel. Thanks!
@@TrailAdventuresTV I didn't watch the video again, but from memory, I thought he said butane suffered from elevation and cold compared to propane... so maybe that's why the windguard in this test? And, I remember he checked his stopwatch at around the two-hour mark and the heater was still going. My impression was the heater was only to be used for an hour or so at bedtime and then another hour or so in the morning before getting out of the sleeping bag, and it seemed to pass the test for that purpose. I don't remember anything being mentioned about all night use. Oh, and corn chips and a bic lighter, yep, even if you forget to pack them, they are available at most gas stations along the way out of town.
the bacon thing reminds me. one helpful thing i've found when planning my trips is that if you make your own homemade bacon, its actually fully cooked and safe to eat in its "raw" state if you go through the smoking process. when you smoke it, you bring the whole slab up to 150*F internal temp then plop it back into the fridge. 145* is the FDA minimum. this is handy in case you run into a survival situation, as you then dont need to fry it. also make it so you dont have to be as wary about contaminating other food.
Hey Casey. Im new to Jeeping and came across your videos. I live in Bend, so your vids have a particular interest to me. I bought a 2011 JKU a couple of weeks ago, and through research found your UA-cam site. I haven't aquired many camping equipment items yet but I'm installing a 2.5 inch leveling kit and 33 inch tires in the next couple of weeks. Plans are to fix up a 5 x 10 foot utility trailer I have and mount a rooftop tent on it. Thanks for your videos as alot of trips you make are on the east side of the Cascades. Happy trails and maybe Ill see you out and about sometime. -- Ken
Beautiful country you got there Casey to explore and enjoy the great outdoors. Thank for sharing, it's always great to see your videos. You may want to try putting your butane canisters in an old thermo sock to insulate them. Take care.😋
I really LOVE your self-sufficient setup! you are in a uniquely advantages position to bugout for a couple of MONTHS if the Coronavirus hits Prineville. I PRAY it doesn't but YOU have a better chance than most to survive if it should happen!
Thank you. I think self sufficiency is extremely important. While my load out and gear works really well for the type of camping and exploring I enjoy, it’s also put together with the thought that I can also function as a bug out kit for sure. Cheers.
Butane is great but rap is they don't work well in freezing Temps. I have one that burns butane or Propane. Take it when traveling but you can't always find butane at gas stations so I can use 1 lb propane. Butane can lasts a long time and light to pack two cans.
Your video just popped up, however I just got home from my own trip skiing and cooking as soon as I get everything cleaned up and put away I’m going to watch It. What a great way to end the weekend with a new Coyote works video.. #ADVwithRoscoe

Thank you!!
Thanks for another great video!! Love coming on some cool adventures with you from the 100 degree swamps of Houston, TX, where there is no snow, trails, or overlanding.
Thank you . Glad you enjoy. Yeah it’s nice living so close to so much wide open public land for sure. Cheers!
Beautiful job as always my friend, thank you
Thank you my friend!
Another excellent video! Your story-telling and videography skills are great Casey. Thanks for the work you put into these and for bringing us along on your adventures!
What? No Cheese on the burrito? Great video Casey!
Ken Uber I caught that too. Maybe he left it at home. I guarantee you on the next video he will have cheese. 😅
Those rock piles resemble above ground graves 🤔
Eugene Enslow it might be a shallow grave and then they put rocks on top to keep the predators from digging them up
Most likely a place where they piled the rocks to clear the ground for planting.
I agree. Looks more to me like a shallow grave. Very typical of the time.
They do. I need to get back out there when the snow is gone so I can get a better picture of what it there. Cheers!
I sure envy your lifestyle. You make some outstanding videos.
Great content Casey! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thank you! My pleasure!
Hi Casey!! Awesome awesome video my broer, well done as always 🔥🐾🐆👍✌
Thank you my friend. Glad you enjoyed. Cheers!
Nice video Casey I guess I'm one of the crazy ones too I love being out there
Hey there Casey. I always end up hungry after watching your videos. I cant figure out why tho~ Regards from Ody Slim
Ody Slim me too. I should blame all my weight gain on Casey. lol
Ha! Thanks my friend! Cheers.
I have got to get me one of those electric chain saws....
Sidestep Adventures We just picked up the Milwaukee electric chainsaw. And it is mint. You won’t be disappointed
You can also use a saws all while you save up for the chain saw lol
I’ve been using mine for years. You just need the correct blades. It’s not perfect but it works in a pinch.
Throw a 10” 12” blade in it and you can cut just about anything.
Cheers
Trail Adventures USA I like Milwaukee, their big impact is impressive.
Prepperjon that’s a good idea. I am constantly running into small downed trees.
My sons boy scout troop a few years ago use to have lasagna or spaghetti in a wrap. It want all that bad.. Thanks for sharing your videos with us, keep up the great work...
Enjoyed the video Casey.
Keep em coming.
really good,entertaining AND interesting
Thank you!
Again really liking your videos. One of these days i will make it up to Oregon just to hang out with you on a trip. Thank you Casey and be safe
DJ Hobbies You should definitely try to make it out. Casey does meet ups with his subscribers for weekend camping trips. It’s always a good time.
I am building up my rig now and hope within next 2 months i should have it where i want it. If i dont before his open invite like he did last last year i want to be there for that. If i can get there before then i will make sure i do. Thank you. Trail adventures usa , are you also in Oregon too?
Man I hope you do make it up this way and hit me up with a message. I always enjoy meeting up with other people that enjoy the same things out there. Cheers my friend. Thanks for the support.
I’ll have to try that. I’ve never used Fritos. I sure like to eat them though ;-)
Great trip. May I suggest pre-cooked bacon. Just brown it if you like it crispy. Cuts time and no worries or extra grease.
That’s a good call. I have used it a few times but I forget about it. They don’t carry it at every store around here. Cheers!
Your videos help me get through some of the dreariness of life until that day that I too drive a Jeep. Here's till' that day :) cheers
Man U are a tall guy! Love your vlogs! Subbed awhile back and ringing the bell. Thanks for the adventures
Thank you my friend. Really appreciate the support! Glad you are enjoying some of my videos!
the bacon thing reminds me. one helpful thing i've found when planning my trips is that if you make your own homemade bacon, its actually fully cooked and safe to eat in its "raw" state if you go through the smoking process. when you smoke it, you bring the whole slab up to 150*F internal temp then plop it back into the fridge. 145* is the FDA minimum. this is handy in case you run into a survival situation, as you then dont need to fry it. also make it so you dont have to be as wary about contaminating other food.
I always enjoy the videos. Keep them up! Hopefully soon I’ll be back in a vehicle I can start exploring & camping again.
Man I’ll be wishing you luck to get back in a rig and get out there exploring again! Cheers my friend.
-- Ken
Another great video! Thanks Casey!
For sure my friend!
Beautiful country you got there Casey to explore and enjoy the great outdoors. Thank for sharing, it's always great to see your videos. You may want to try putting your butane canisters in an old thermo sock to insulate them. Take care.😋
Thanks my friend. I do something like that sometimes with the butane canisters. Another trick I do is to tape a Hot Hands handwarmer to them. Cheers!
Casey have you ever checked the county records for homesteaders names and maybe living relatives ? That would be really cool.
Looks like fun I wish it snowed here in Florida.. just endless summer lol
Ha! Yeah you don’t have much for seasons down there do you? Lol
Very nice
Another great video! Thanks!!
Cheers.
Another great video; thanks for taking us along on another adventure! 🔥❄🎥
Thanks my friend!
Butane is great but rap is they don't work well in freezing Temps. I have one that burns butane or Propane. Take it when traveling but you can't always find butane at gas stations so I can use 1 lb propane. Butane can lasts a long time and light to pack two cans.
I have a couple of tricks for using butane effectively in the cold. I’ll show a few of them in my next video. Cheers!
@@CoyoteWorks01 👍sounds like a plan
Great video
Thank you!
Out in the snow yo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fo sho!
Use the lint from dryer for staring fires
Your video just popped up, however I just got home from my own trip skiing and cooking as soon as I get everything cleaned up and put away I’m going to watch It. What a great way to end the weekend with a new Coyote works video.. #ADVwithRoscoe
