yes 100% a drip system would work better. Its on the table for when I make the changes to the room. It will also be easier to use with my RO system. This was just the system I had at the old house and it worked flawlessly for more than a decade. Easier doesn't always mean better!
I changed roughly 1,000 gallons worth of water today... I refilled all afternoon with regular water pressure 😬. I do smaller changes every few days normally, but there was a leak in one of the systems and it refilled with ro and hardness was nonexistent. Needed fixing 🙃
Did I understand that when in Winnipeg Manitoba, you did not treat your water for chlorine? I have 10, 20 and 30 gallon tanks that I want to set up on a water change system. That would mean for a 10 gallon tank, .71 of a gallon daily of untreated chlorine filled city water, and that wouldn't harm the fish, shrimp, snails, or plants?
All my tanks that I had in the lab back in Winnipeg were well over 100+ gallons. Small daily dilute water changes happened. Thank he small amount of chlorine had zero effect on anything. However also of note should I be working with a more sensitive or delicate species the water changers was fully adjustable. I could easily switch to reverse osmosis with a handle. Or water can be run through a cartridge to remove chlorine. Chlorine isn’t very stable unlike chloramine which I have never had to deal with. In smaller aquaria I would add a water conditioner dosing stage inline or a chlorine removing cartridge
This looks amazing. Thanks for sharing you experience with setting this up.
Wry kind Wally
Im terrible with plumbing and water projects. I would like to do this in my fish room! I may attempt soon.
It’s been a week is it finished?
@@themadaquarist ha! If I told you the week I had you might not believe me. I may try try in a few months..
Great system ! I like the common sense approach. This K.I.S. or K.I.S.S. Principle is one concept I take top heart. Thanks !
words to live by
I know this video is pretty old, but where did you get the 180 gallon storage?
Great information man! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Thanks for the feature!
Mines only one small childs step above a bucket and hose compared to your NASA designed contraption brother
Great info Chris.
Very helpful. This inspired me to set up my system. Is there a reason why you don't drip it slowly instead ? Wouldn't it be easier on your heaters?
