  • This man needs no introduction! After a 10 year NFL career AND winning the super bowl in 2012, Steve Weatherford went on to be named "The Fittest Man in the National Football League!"
Not only does Wearherford shine in the areas of sports and fitness, he is also a man of service! Like I always say, People matter. Things don't. Weatherford was named Health and Fitness Ambassador of the Boys and Girls Club in New Jersey, serving as a role model, mentor, and fitness and nutrition coach to more than 80,000 kids throughout New Jersey. He also serves as spokesperson for Second Chance Toys, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Steve Weatherford Charity for Ghana.
Now, he sat down with me in this exclusive interview to talk about his journey to and through the NFL; overcoming weaknesses, building a life he is proud of and enjoying the journey along the way. Discover how Steve Weatherford has become the revered star athlete we all know today!
This interview will have you hanging on to every word! It's available now on UA-cam, Stitcher, Itunes, and Spotify.

This episode should be in the school curriculum for 13 year old boys. Two extreme examples of all that is masculine that boys think they want, showing the real vulnerability and heart that it takes to make those things happen. Wow. Leadership exemplified!

50:04" My Grass might not always be greener, but I'm not worried about other peoples grass... I'm gonna water my own lawn" Steve Weatherford should have had a physical mic to drop at that moment! I love that quote.

I'm 62 years old and JUST NOW learning to love myself and learning to follow my own personal dreams. This has to be taught to young folks. Funny, I could express to my children how important loving yourself is, all the while judging myself as being worthless. I suddenly found myself living alone. One day, out of the blue, I looked in the mirror and heard the 'Mama' inside me telling myself all the things I told my children. I cried like a baby, but I listened and learned. Thank you Mr. Mylett for interviewing Mr. Weatherford. Right time, right message. I pray young people will watch this.

I am a long time follower, fan, and student of Steve Weatherford and when he sent out an email talking about this interview I had to watch it. This was surprisingly my first exposure to Ed Mylett and I was blown away. Truly an incredible communicator and listener and connector. And wow, Steve’s vulnerability was more powerful than any talks about his strengths and accomplishments could’ve been. I feel blessed to have been able to watch this conversation.

VERY GENUINE AND AUTHENTIC...Just like these two Gentlemen described...we all struggle in life...that mental, emotional and spiritual challenge that everyone deals with...It's a true blessing when we as an audience get to witness two Men being absolutely real with each other and exposing them selves in the truest form possible ( totally detached from self image and ego) Amazing...having that awareness and presence in the moment...discovering your true self moment by moment...the humble and meek shall inherit thee Earth!

This episode just resonated with me. I enjoy inspiring other people, but I do have this loathing of myself because I have fallen short in my life. My wife is not wanting me to strike out in my own job. My mom always reminding me that I was not a success because I was not a shark and intense on completing my tasks and who cared if I walked over people. I have to learn how to start loving myself for my success emotionally, financially and spiritually. Ed Mylett, I will be praying for your dad and healing of his cancer. God bless.

i had to watch it twice....not including how many times i backed up to hear the mountain moving statement that were made.
this video nailed down 30 years of winning and then losing it all and starting over....i never celebrated my wins...i believed that was just being a modest and humble man.....20 hour days will get you a win at anything a person tries.....do we love our self enough to accept the award....when we push the award away.....the win is meaningless and comes crashing down.....an on going cycle....
this video has hit home....HARD......thankyou again

I’m living in the smallest home ever, in a dangerous part of Tulsa, earning the lowest wages ever, without friends and family near by, being dogged in my work environment and yet I am the happiest I’ve ever been bc I’ve learned to love myself! I’ve learned to push harder, and to give myself a break. When these guys said that getting the accolades didn’t make them happy, that loving themselves is the key; I’m doing it, I’m there; living in the daily joy of life while I work towards my goals regardless of what my immediate environment says. You guys validated my experience, so awesome!
Granted I know my environment will change but I’m happy where I’m at until I get where I want to go lol woot woot!! Thank you guys for a fantastic share and exchange! Bless you both 🌸

Ed I met you online 5 days ago. I have been in a nasty slump in my life and business. These last 5 days have truly helped me to start seeing who I really am. Thank you for that and thank you for bringing Steve on. Listening to this interview this morning truly has made me understand what I now have to do to help people which is one of my biggest goals. I really appreciate your faith also I have never heard anyone on line or social media talk about the lord as much as you do. and for a man of faith like I am Your bringing out the Holy Spirit in me and thats just awesome. Lastly I want to meet you one day in person and tell you my story and what I’m doing to change my life and over come the day to day pain I face. By doing that maybe it will help someone in need who is on the fence or in a bad spot and help inspire them to come off the fence in there journey to peace and happiness.

    • @robinwynn8235
      @robinwynn8235 6 років тому

Yes! What resonated with me was that I have never heard another individual speak so precisely regarding their feelings and perception about their own being, the internal dialogue, and depression. Steve termed it the hate machine. A very accurate description. In my experience I refer to it as the black mind. The obvious proof that Steve is taking action and finding his solution was obvious from the luminosity exploding out of him and the truth and heart from the words he spoke that could be felt. Ed thank you for taking the time and effort. Have a great day!

This truly is a very special interview and shows the talent Ed has in bringing out true honesty in the people he is interviewing: You can honestly see the pain Steve is in and all the steps he is taking to get our of it at a very early stage (21 days). And you can hear the contractions in the interview to what we normally hear, such as setting long-term goals but to simply keep on 'showing-up' instead.
Fully appreciating your wins, truly being yourself and helping others always are the key-takeaway towards achieving happiness from the interview. Thank you Ed & Steve

That's how you have LASTING HAPPINESS. By taking pride in the process not the prize. When you take pride in your ability to give yourself a command and follow it, when you commit to the process and follow through, getting that credibility to yourself. I just watched this again for the second time. I'm an ex Division 1 baseball player (from the same league as Ed's UOP, hilariously enough) and Steve hit SO perfectly the toxic mindset that we athletes cultivate. For me, I supercharged this mindset my senior year of high school. I pushed myself harder than my peers, sacrificed more and it looked like I could take it pretty far. I then found myself in a really toxic environment at my program and I didnt have the tools to deal with it, and I crashed and burned. After the devastating loss of my entire self-identity before my potential was realized, I drank and womanized around for a few years to mask and ignore my pain. Then, I found myself in an amazing place with an amazing career path. I was surrounded my a plan that promised success and surrounded by people doing extraordinary things. However, I saw that as another opportunity to use my super charged, hyper goal oriented and hyper self critical mindset to try to push myself to this "success". However, there were no wins, no home runs, no dopamine hits in this new career. I didnt know how to celebrate the small wins, nor how to feel proud of myself in the process. For me there was no process, there was only the end goal. I defined my self worth by these huge goals, and the further life kept moving forward, the further away I found myself from those huge goals and my self hate grew deeper and deeper. From 2018 to the end of 2020, I found myself in a deep depression filled with anxiety, and that anxiety also eroded my gut and I found myself facing 18 months of chronic digestive issues on top of my depression. I have now pulled myself out of that horrible place with the help of an amazing performance psychologist, great books, and Ed Mylett. This January I was in such an amazing place. I had so much energy, personality, and inertia. I was everything I knew I could be. Then, my gut went out again, which messed with my brain's chemical balance and I found myself back in this awful, highly self critical place this week. I found myself back in that deep dark hole of depression. I listened to this podcast again and it was the one thing that allowed me to go back to my darkness and tell myself that its who I am in this journey that's the most important. That I am more than enough. That it is okay to be ordinary and not be burdened by the internal expectation of being extraordinary in the extrinsic definition. I know that through my journey my resilience is extraordinary and I am exactly who I am meant to be in this moment. So thank you Ed and Steve for this...I had exhausted my tools this week and this was the thing that popped my mind back to its rightful place!

17:41 “You can find a way to be happy in the process. You won’t lose your drive. You think you’ll lose your drive. You won’t!” Ed. Subconsciously I’ve always feared I would lose my drive if I enjoyed myself enough vs chasing and grinding out the next goal. Hearing this from you, someone who has already succeeded financially, speaks VOLUMES over those who haven’t. This is why your content is golden! You are positively affecting us! God bless you and your work!

WOW!!!! I’ve been watching you for over a year Ed, you & your friends inspire me, I have been really depressed for about 6 months because of an ultimate failure for me personally which is my business because I made stupid financial decisions that brought me here, I been so stuck and not knowing what to do, I had to get a job to provide for my family as best I can and the last couple I was like I’m sick of feeling this way. I don’t know what to do but what can i do? So I did what i knew how and it is get up earlier and go jog. Most day I don’t want to get up but force myself to get up and show up, and I can attribute wanting to get out and change to watching you Ed. And this Episode is the best for me like you claimed in the beginning of the show, I am even more inspired. Thank you Brother!!!

I really love this channel. Not because the motivational pep talks, the glimpses of inspiration, or the helpful tips and tricks to get ahead (although all of that content is amazing), but because Ed is always willing to speak truth into another top performers life while also receiving the truth projected onto him. In this interview, even more than the others, there is a sense of realness in doing things that is not seen often in interviews like this. Ed is able to love on other people and pull things out of their story in a way that magnifies who they are and what it is they have to offer.

@@EdMylettShow I would love to see you interview Seth Godin. He doesn't have the athletic side that many if not most of your guests have, but if someone is maxing out their life, it's that guy. Honestly though, anyone you bring on I'll watch or listen. You're doing great things and I'm glad I can be a part of it all just by tuning in.
