I have to say, I was extremely disappointed when I heard Lacey was leaving Flyleaf, and as such I had a hard time accepting this new band as still being Flyleaf. But wow. This album is awesome. I was wrong to jump to conclusions. This song gives me chills just like So I Thought does. This isn't the Flyleaf I knew, but it's still good.
Walking through the city we grew up in, everything has changed again I remember fighting to believe in truth and how the good will win But we were young, almost in love Too scared to reach out for what was Walking past the house that you grew up in, man, it looks so different now Remembering the story of your first kiss, the feeling of my heart ripped out And we were young, almost in love Too scared to reach out for what was Looking back, we tried to laugh Silly kids, the ghosts of past You were just a girl, you wrote a letter, it said that we were dearest friends I push myself to read a little further, it said we would be 'til we're dead But we were young, almost in love Too scared to reach out for what was Looking back, we tried to laugh Silly kids, the ghosts of past
To be frank, when I first found out that Lacey wasn't going to front the band anymore I cried, it was heartbreaking to think that the person that got me through so many years wasn't going to be there. But you know, I also vowed never to listen to the new stuff flyleaf put out. Guess what I am doing now? Doing the exact opposite because evolution of music, no matter who fronts it will always be Flyleaf to me. Keep your eyes wide and your mind open, Things change and this is for the good.
Is there a live version of this song in the Deluxe CD or something like that? I remember having listened to another live version of this when I downloaded the album on Deezer, but now it's not there anymore :( it was so much more full of sentiments.
i think the reason people are so upset about lacey not being in the band is because she had a very distinctive, one-of-a-kind voice and even the melodies she came up with had a very particular sound (which, for a while, we just knew as the 'Flyleaf' sound) and now those vocals and that sound have been subtracted from the equation...
That is understandable. But Lacey left on her own as she felt she had another calling. I wish her the best and will still look for her music, like her video the past year. But Flyleaf was more than Lacey for me. Some will prefer the original Flyleaf sound, but Kristen bring her own sound. Its more polished than Lacey's but she still sounds fantastic with the 4 guys behind her. Hopefully the new Flyleaf gets to prove themselves and they crate a new sounds and new fans.
Live video but not live audio recording? Cause you move away from the mic at the end but your voice is still singing. Plus the mixing is incredible if it is a live recording. But then theres also background people cheering at bits... confused. Also, the singer change shirt several times. Good song though
Definitely a live recording. From what I understand they used two concerts to film it. I was at one of them. I can even see myself in the front row early into the video. :D This was at Hurricane Harry's in College Station a few years back. It was my birthday. That was a great day for me. :D
britbassgirl The scream doesn't feel random for me. Lacey used to say that she screamed because of urgency and emotion, and I feel like that's the reason for the scream in this song as well. It's not urgent, no, but it is emotional. With the build up of the kind of longing nostalgia in both the music and the lyrics, the scream seems like a cathartic release of emotion. Like screaming to relieve the feelings of discontent that come from growing up, leaving old loves behind, and maybe even feeling lost in the big wide world of adulthood.
I can understand why you'd say that but dude...they sound almost identical. Literally I discovered flyleaf not long ago and until now I could swear it was Lacey singing this song. The new singer is just as good, no less.
She sings very well.
The scream is everything omg *_*
os anos passam e continuo sempre vindo aqui
I did not knew Kristen was this good 😳 love it
Excellent! I think Flyleaf is in great hands now :)
Honestly once lacey left i didn't listen to flyleaf anymore..but once i heard this song.Really love it.
She's fantastic!

Изумительно....
It's like the song "so I thought" part II

How's the name of This Singer
The writing is different but I still like it. I'll support you til the end just like I will support Lacey's new upcoming album :)
*If it was live recording.

666 like hell yeah =)
2:22 "you were just a girl"? 👀 sounds ✨gay✨ I'm in
When did Flyleaf become country music? The dynamic of flyleaf's music has changed.
Am I the only one the notices her shirt and jeans change colour???
Probably video from two different shows. But the audio from one.
The only problem I have is the scream...why is the scream needed?! Other than that, awesome song!
the scream gives a touch to the music is amazing

like you looking forward to the album
I want the old singer... Lacey...
Sorry but Flyleaf without Lacey is not flyleaf. It`s like metallica without Hetfield. The New vocalist has some skill but it will never be the same.
lmao. Then go listen to Lacey's solo music instead.
