Takes me back to summer afternoons in campgrounds and parks, recovering from the previous nights show, w/JGB tunes wafting in the air. Feeling like the luckiest person in the world to be part of this epic experience of music, freedom, and bliss.
Passive sharing of good music , camping , outdoors , conversation and a beer . with the expectation that everyone remains in control of themselves . Kind .
Love it. Thanks for sharing this. Track list; 1. Might As Well 2. Mission in the Rain 3. They Love Each Other 4. I'll Take A Melody 5. It Must Have Been the Roses 6. Tore Up Over You 7. Catfish John 8. Comes A Time
This is just fantastic. I came here because it was $30 to buy the CD on Amazon, but I'm going to buy it anyway. I can't ethically spend all the money I spend on different things in my life that do nothing for my soul while spending zero to listen to this. That would be like violating some sacred law of the universe.
Great philosophy...I bought the original LP pressing...however..there isn't much left of it over the years. I bought the cd as soon as I could find it,.however..please don't disparage people for trying to have a piece of music that helps them to go on, however they can get it. 30 dollars was often more cash than I would see in any given week, and I was not lazy.,,,.mink ranches, tapping maples, sorting potatoes..whatever work was available, I did. The dead appreciated that, and that's why they allowed tapers at their shows. Contribute when you can, but please don't disrespect those who cant, but only want to share the music..
He disparaged nobody. He merely put into perspective that he personally spends money on things that add nothing to his spirituality while counting pennies over other things that might. $30 is well worth it considering that it will cost at least that to see live music at most venues today. Years of satisfying musical pleasure versus a couple of hours of live music? Go with the record David and if you can find a copy of Tiger rose by Robert Hunter, buy it. At any price.
Blew me away on my first listen. The song is like jerrys mission statement and sums up his love of music.all the JGB songs chug along so nicely, at this peaceful mellow pace. So perfect.
So great! Was living in San Francisco one block from the Ocean Beach a few blocks south of the Cliff House. Life was too damn good. I was going to the college of Marin and working when I needed money. This album was heavily played in our house.
Might as Well - 0:05 Mission in the Rain - 4:07 They Love Each Other - 9:17 I'll Take a Melody - 13:59 It Must Have Been the Roses - 23:47 Tore Up Over You - 29:22 Catfish John - 33:56 Comes a Time - 41:01
What a great record! Has a very youthful, innocent feel to it. Tracklist loaded with tunes that have held up very well on stage, especially in JGB. I played the living hell out of my vinyl copy. wag wag wag wag woofwoofwoof! wag wag wag
We get the best of both worlds on this record if you are a fan of Jerry Garcia. On tracks 1, 3, 5, and 8 he is backed by the Grateful Dead. On tracks 2, 4, 6, and 7 he is backed by the Jerry Garcia Band.
Thanks sooooo much for sharing. You definitely can tell the difference...having the original vinyl record as a kind of analogue master recording combined with the clarity of a good digital transfer...Jerry would be taking a big hit, and then nodding his head in vigorous hippie approval...Yes Man....
There's some Satisfaction in the San Francisco rain ! My band will be headed up in late Jan 19 I can't wait were playing 3 nights in a row with rundown creeps were the endorphinz you sanfran cats keep your eyes peeled
Check out Spectrum 9/3/89. You will not be disappointed. I believe this is the first JGB show there. On FIRE. Possibly the best Deal ever aside from flawless performances of everything.
1. "Might As Well" Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter 3:54 2. "Mission In The Rain" Garcia, Hunter 5:04 3. "They Love Each Other" Garcia, Hunter 4:37 4. "I'll Take a Melody" Allen Toussaint 9:28 5. You know, sometime in the future they’ll be a nostalgic Deadhead who has that special place in his heart about playing some of the old classic tunes on the thumb drive who then runs across some guy who, to his chagrin, is playing them that awful new dangled way by taking the quantum-based display and grabbing the tune and throwing it into mid air where it plays filling the very air with the finest sound quality with no need for speakers utilizing the very fabric of the makeup of air itself. Cool, huh? Mind you, I’m working on that very same technology right now. Slated for prototype by early 2025.
spoiled head jerry would do @ least two mini tours round NYC betwix the shows was some of my finest shows Fat Man would get down an who could forget La Fountaine Broadway acoustic w/bluegrass Jerrys tours were amazing an love theis vynyl brings one back
Dunno about "mint condition vinyl" and "excellent quantity" but it sounds as good as my long-lost vinyl copy! Thank you for posting, cannot find this anywhere else.
"cannot find this anywhere else" then quit complaining. besides google is your friend. their are plenty of copies available if you'd just come off a couple dollars and quit trying to steal music off the internet. * just so you know, nothing you steal off youtube is better than 128kb mp3 which is trash anyway. so if you're happy with THAT. then your "audiophile snobbery" point is moot anyway.

I bought this used at the Record Cellar in 1980. The album that made me a Jerry Band fan.

he looks exhausted from doing too many shows in the early nineties.

Me also, though I found one used invery good condition for 10 bucks, and I've had great and a many good purchases of used CDs
This rendition of I'll Take A Melody is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard recorded!!
It requires slowing down and patience, but it's oh so rewarding! Jerry's outro is great as usual.
Blew me away on my first listen. The song is like jerrys mission statement and sums up his love of music.all the JGB songs chug along so nicely, at this peaceful mellow pace. So perfect.
Shine On, Keep on Shining - What a way to start a day!

to be clear, Donna is on both of those rosters - same with Mickey; right? this was 76? If so, was Booker on any of these tracks?
@@eoswald203 recorded in 75 for Round Records during their hiatus, no Booker.
@@Ruffmike1 my man - much appreciate it
Thanks Token, absolutely love the sweet groove Jerry and friends were in during this time -- love the boards from 76 with these tunes, too!
I so love the sound of vinyl. Scratchy but it picks up a volume we don't hear today.
ANALOG BABBYYYY .
All my Jerry solo albums were on cassette. Only "Cats" has survived. I need to find this LP and "Run For The Roses". Thanks for uploading.
