Would be really interesting to hear your thoughts after a week or two of flying. Some of the other reviews suggest it’s a refresh rather than anything groundbreaking in terms of actual ANR etc. I’m on the 320, so would be great to get some real detail on how you’re finding it in the 73, especially the low/med/high etc. Tap through seems a bit awkward from a CRM point of view with crew, again interested to see what you find.
Great review. I think Bose has distanced its competition. Better design, Double tap, digital ANR, microphone swap and software updates. Don’t think there are many competitors. I watch aviation videos often, Bose seems the standard. I have the a20 and will have delivery of the A30.
I’m really unhappy with my “upgrade” from a20-30. First and foremost, the audio sound is disgusting. My own voice is like talking into an echo chamber, it’s really off putting. Not only does it sound echoey, I can also barely hear myself making it harder to talk naturally. The tap to turn off noise cancellation is a total joke. Bumping it on anything, like a visor cuts out an ear cup and your left with one ear on and the other off. Even landing the Ejet and placing the nose wheel down somewhat gently will be enough of a bump to trigger the ANC drop out. (You can turn it on and off via a switch under the batteries). I am also getting head pressure headaches from the dense foam pads on top, much worse then the a20’s. Granted my head is relatively big. The smooth feel plastic material is much less durable then the a20’s, shows every scratch and for $2000 AUD you would think they could braid the cable since EVERY a20 before it has the cable start to deteriorate around the 4 year mark. The downcable on the a30 is even thinner and after one single use already shows signs on stress. The ear cups are still synthetic and going to fail like all Bose ear cups. You can buy lamb’s leather replacement ear cups off Amazon. Why the hell can’t the TOP model BOSE be supplied with real leather - or a material that doesn’t flake!!!!!!! The audio controller comes with a silicon band to help “hang” the controller. The silicon goes OVER the Bluetooth volume buttons. Piss poor effort for the most expensive headset on the market. It’s like an after thought!! Im keen to know if anyone else is experiencing audio like they are talking into a tin can/ echo. (5 pin XLR, embraer 190 tested only). The hot swappable L and R mic position is nice. And I can ONLY HOPE they have improved the mic wiring so that it’s not a cable twisting every time you swivel the mic up and down as it was on the a20 but I have my doubts. (The UFlyMike as an example - has a microphone connection that facilitates endless 360 degree loops, you can pop it off and replace it in
My question would be, as a airline pilot, is it more streamline and less bulky. Looking at the video, it seems like the headset and case are not that compact. One of my biggest issues with the Bose A20 is it’s size and how it takes up so much room in my flight bag. Can anyone shed any light on this?
@@iwantottle9943 true.. I noticed he swappable mic is type c but this isn’t. They must have tried. Oh well, don’t expect to use it more than twice during its lifetime.
13 years and all they could come up with was 6 gramm less weight? The new Lightspeed Delta Zulu comes with a carbon monoxide sensor, built-in audio equalization system, an app that allows recording/playback and a lot more. What a disappointment 😢
@@benwatts4777 isn't the ANC the same as the a20's? But now it can be adjusted? Honestly it'd like to have seen a hard case at the very least lol. I used the a10's right now so I'm probably going to get these but man it feels disappointing
The USB port on the control module can also be connected to a power bank to power the headset.

Great review, captain! Loved it especially the double tap and changing from left to right! Hope you enjoy your new Bose A30 aviation headset!! 🎉👍👍✨✨✨
Thanks Selina! That is a great feature.
@@benwatts4777 thank you, captain!! ✈️
The 737 is a noisy bird. I love the a20 in the a220.

Nice unboxing video, good review thanks
Thanks Gareth!
Worth every penny!!!

Hi Chris, the case is significantly less bulky than the A20. It’s one of the first things I noticed 👌
Just out of curiosity, that usb port looks like micro usb. Did I see that right? If so seems a bit odd for a 2023 piece of tech
It is! They’re meant for future firmware updates. Not meant to be used every so often.
@@shyamnayak I get that but surely must only cost pennies to make it type C instead. micro is just so fragile and antiquated these days

Definitely a money grab by Bose
It is more of an evolution than a revolution, but in all fairness, there is quite a lot more than just a lighter weight.

They will probably phase out the A20 in time
