For some reason, ever since Maude died, I noticed a very slow and steady decline on the simpsons show. Not sure why but after that, it just didn't seem to be AS funny. Before then, it was classic after classic. With the exception of the infamous principal and pauper episode. Then after the simpsons movie, I noticed it became pretty different in terms of comedic timing and jokes. It just didn't feel as funny as it used to be and only had a few exceptions here and there as the series continued. I don't think it noticeably declined after the principal and the pauper episode. For me, it was after Maude died. The episodes after were still funny but not AS funny as they used to me or as memorable.
The series started to run out of steam in the mid 90's due to the over stretching of the franchise. Writers can do wonders, sure, but those ain't eternal. I think some of the most touching episodes like the one when Need looses his business and house or when Bart fails his last chance to pass the final examn, came from James L. Brooks who did one hell of an input into having the cast been as realistic as possible. Others like Connan O'Brien did some wonders too like the famous Monorail episode, but when you have to many people writing the episodes and on top of that, they change seats constantly, you can't have top quality all the time. To me the series was great from 1989 (with Homer doing his best to portray his family as normal human beings during Burn's birthday celebration) right into 1996~98 with that beautifull moment when Homer has a chance to say goodbye to his mother. The jokes in the show could be very subtle (the grounds keeper Willy ordering the school cooker to put grease on his muscular body), very intuitive ("Will I see you again?", "Sure baby, in the next Fision"), very dark (Frank Grimes killing himself after suffering an psycothic attack - although this, in my book, is one of the worst episodes in the series) or blatantly funny (Homer falling down the Springfield Cannyon - any of the two versions), BUT, that would mean nothing if we never had touching moments that made us think and bleed emphaty for the characters. Most, if not all of this was lost after we reached the 21st Century because of various reasons, some of them hinted above but overall the show self destructed itself and those characters that could be loved, nowsdays are only empty shells used to force cheap laughs.

God doesn’t pick favorites, he rewards those who do actually keep his word. Sin literally kills you because it’s from Satan and he was dead from the start. If you never abandon him and stay faithful, surely he will reward you as well.
What's funniest about the river scene is a log on the surface is called a sweeper because it sweeps everything underneath it. Today would have drowned in reality 😂
