The Gap iiD tool is fantastic but if you don't want to get deep into your ecu with flashing ccf files etc, then the cheaper iCarsoft is equally as good.
I wanna change air suspension settings on a Discovery 5, specifically taking it into extended mode at will. Is that possible? which one do u recommend?
Had 4 Rangeys. My iiD tool paid for itself on my first fault, fixed air susp fault n cleared board fault. Would have been $2k at stealership. Got free transfers to all my new cars. Did the free firmware update for my new 2017sdv8 sport dynamic. Turned off the auto stop start nonsense with the multican 566 trick. Love my iid tool. Allways in the car. Wouldnt have a Rangey without one.
A lot of these faults will be from your flat battery, also the CAN-bus system on these ff’s is noisy and spurious faults pop up all the time. I read faults, make not of any of interest and then clear and re-read any that pop back before digging deeper.
Hi Ben, First of all, thank you for all your vídeos and effort to teach us about our Range Rover. Second, I bought the Icarsoft LR V3.0 for my 2002 TD6. This tool don't read or recognize the VIN. Don't read the SAS, and transmission. Will this are not suitable for the 2002 models? The icarsoft vídeos show to us that this model have some more improvments than its predecessors
I have the V2, which I used on my 2002 TD6. It communicated with all systems, never showed any faults in those systems as it didn't have any. Perhaps get in touch with iCarsoft to see what they say.
@@Bensgarage hi Ben, thank you for your answer. Icarsoft Europe, kick me off and tell me to speak with the supplies. Supplier is Amazon which don't know nothing about these things
I've always done it like this, if there is an option on the tool to disconnect from the car. Some cheaper scan tools don't have that option, and in that case I have always switched off the ignition prior to removing the tool. I've never had a problem, but I guess it might be wise to in the future.
I have used a few main dealer diagnostics mainly for BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Multi-Diag and also Bosch KTS and in all the training was instructed to cut power to disconnect EODB

The icarsoft does a lot of things. Can read live values. And resets various things. For the price, it's great. The iid tool is way too expensive. Equivalent BMW tools that I own that do the same things costs way less
Out of interest, can the BMW tools flash the ECU, change CCF files and calibrate suspension? I know the IID tool is fairly expensive, but it does almost the same as the dealer spec tools. So for me, owing a Range Rover (and planning to keep it) the IID tool is a must.
Depends what you want to do. In my mind it is a must for any Range Rover owner to have a GAP tool, but they are expensive. You get what you pay for though. The GAP tool is almost a dealer level spec tool, where you can calibrate the suspension, flash ccf files, authorise functions that normally only the dealer can do.
@@Bensgarage Hi Ben, thank you for your reply. I realy buy the IID tool but, honestly I found a deception. Is just a code reader the only usefull thing is to calibrate de suspension. Hello Ben, The IID tool can change the CCF files. With the steering wheel you have it shows the RECORDER button on the right lower set. If the button is fitted, does the recorder function appear in the configuration? Can it be fitted but not actually do anything? Can this function get turned off if the vehicle battery goes flat? When the VIN in my L322 is decoded and the build set is displayed, it shows the recorder as an item, but does not operate in my L322. Your comment will be appreciated. I am considering the IID tool to turn functions off and on as well as view and clear faults. Does your one operate on an iPad, or is it an Android pad? Regards
Firstly the IID tool works on my iPad (ios), as for the button on the steering wheel I have no idea. Would be best to get in touch with GAP Diagnostic who make the IID tool and see what they say. You would have to get in contact with them if you wanted to change any CCF files and they then send you the new files over to flash your ecu with.

Will the IID tool help me identify if the car has been remapped?
The screen blacking was from the sun, LCD’s don’t like direct sun and heat. Normally returns to normal after a few minutes
The hand brake will be you putting in on with the engine off / or running
