Didn't know much about Rami Malek before I heard he was going to play Freddie. I watched everything I could find on line, and watched the trailers as they came out, over and over again. By the time I saw the film the 2nd week in November, I had acquired an enormous respect for Rami and his talent. The film was amazing! I've pre-ordered the DVD and will be watching it many, many times. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't already done so to look at some of Rami's earlier work, including my favorites--his sketches in the TV comedy "The War at Home". He's such a talented. articulate, and personable individual! A unique talent for our time! Hopefully we will see him in many more roles!

I don't like him - at least not in this role. First thing he mentiones about portraying Freddie are the false teeth he considered so necessary - as if they were mostly important. But when it comes to looks, let me say that Freddie had the most wonderful dark brown eyes. And Malek and / or the makers of the movie (B. May?) thought it was alright to do without any lenses - so we can watch a Freddie impersonator with frog like pale blue eyes... yeah: But the teeth are there! Besides - Freddie was a man, Malek is so boyish, so I think won't watch the movie.
Werderina no offence but that’s such a silly reason not to see the movie, and I can’t honestly believe you watched this interview with rami basically saying how he poured his heart and soul into making sure he did freddie justice, and all you took away from it was what he said about the teeth??!?? Okay Freddie had brown eyes and they didn’t change ramis for some reason but that pales in significance when you see the way rami celebrates Freddie’s life and legacy in the film...
First of all, I found it very astute of him to mention that he found the "teeth" to be so necessary....because they were! Freddy fans know that he utterly refused to have any work done to "correct" his overbite;since he believed that to do so would alter his vocal tonality and range. Secondly,I saw the film last night and it was fab! It doesn't take long for one to,almost,forget that it's NOT Freddy up there on the screen....which is a testament to Rami's performance as Freddy....hell,he practically inhabited the man! I will admit that when I watched the trailer I said to myself "Eh,he don't look exactly like Freddy,but he's passable",lol....then I saw the movie AND it was Freddy up there. Too bad you've made the choice not to see a very good film based on what you see only on the surface,especially if you're a "Queen" fan. Very happy I changed my mind.Hope you can,too.

I saw the movie at the premiere, he did a great job. I hope he gets an oscar. He had great comic timing and presence in every scene.

Now I have watched it.. and I have to admit, the film was much worse than expected... and Malek himself wasn‘t the worst about it.
