  • The Leitrim House dance was specially choreographed piece by Edwina Guckian for the dancers at Áirc Damhsa. All dancrs in this performance attend her Dance Club in Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon on a weekly basis.
The dance is based on stories Edwina has heard from the older Leitrim generation about house dancers years ago. The local community would gather together when the hay had been saved and they would celebrate with music, song, and dance. The strawboys would sometimes visit, there would be brush dancing, story telling and the half door would be taken down and danced on.

Hey! I'm from Chile. I'd like to know what those basquets on their heads are.
I'm really interested in Irish traditions and folklore 😊 .

They are depicting Irish straw boys. A tradition where young boys not invited to a wedding or party would crash the event and remain anonymous due to the baskets covering their heads. It became a tradition.

It sounds to me like Kevin Conneff, singer and bodhran player with the legendary Chieftains. I don't know the song but then I haven't heard all of their albums. (Has anyone?) lol Could be a place to start.
