I think this has...several meanings. Being an ex addict myself (clean 21 years), I know sometimes my addiction would “talk” to me in the same manner as this song did. It was so hard to ignore the pull for that 💉. An excellent reaction to one of Em’s best tracks.

This is the way I relate to this song, and it made me get another perspective about how it slowly gains control over each part of me. Been clean 5 years now, but every now and then when Im feeling low the "voice" would tempt me. Not saying like an actual voice but yeah.

Then in dr west (relapse intro) shady comes back to possess Eminem. That’s why it’s called relapse. He falls back into the shady persona and the album is pretty much the slim shady lp 2. This song was recorded at a time when Eminem was considering retiring so he doesn’t want shady to keep him in the rap game.

This song is a sequel to Low Down Dirty from The Slim Shady EP (1996) which was before Dre even found Em. The intro to the EP is Em looking in the mirror and seeing Slim Shady and the serial killer alter ego takes over his spirit and they become one and then Low Down Dirty starts up and it’s the FIRST EVER time he’s spitting fucked up lyrics as Shady. My Darling is from Relapse (2009) which is the album he did after he got out of rehab, and it’s obviously way more serious than most other songs about Slim Shady or him “as” Slim Shady, because even tho the voice is the same devil voice as the EP intro AND he’s looking into the mirror again, it could be interpreted as the devil because he’s Christian (believe it or not), and also it can be interpreted as the rap game and music itself pulling him back after he got off drugs.

I mean Krayzie Bone talks about Satan coming to him offering him a deal in the song "Devils Deal" and he was never on hardcore drugs like Em was so it can't be just a reference.
