I just don't know how I can tackle a job my size with just a leveling rake. Even if I can rent a spreader, we are talking about 50k square feet of lawn that needs to be done.

New to this great channel. Quality production. Nice work! Following in the 'Fix an Ugly Lawn' series to restore my yard to its former glory. Quick Q: What size is your leveling rake?
Hey Ron, I went to site-one to order leveling mix and they strongly recommended me not leveling with compost this time of year because it will burn the lawn in this heat? We are in the 100s in San Antonio. Is this true?
Not sure why they're saying that Jimmy. I've leveled this time of year several times without burning or damaging the lawn. What I would not do is dump piles of leveling mix or compost on the lawn and let them stay there. That can cause discoloration if it's allowed to sit for too long. That's the only "gotcha" I'd say for leveling a lawn this time of year.

Bermuda so I was going to overseed my yard with a Yukon since you can’t find the Arden15 anymore. We had a wet stretch in winter that ruined about 1/3 of my yard bc of a kids bday party. Questions would be: do you think this would work? If so, should I top dress with sand or something else, or a mixture? I plan to use a starter fertilizer when I throw the seed down
The centipede isn’t super healthy and I put down some Celsius herbicide about 1-1.5 months ago. So the yard has a good bit of bare spots between the bday party beat down and the weeds that have now died off. I’d love to send you some pics if you have an email address or similar

Yes you can but there was no need to water spectracide in. It's designed to dry on the leaves. You can apply fertilizer a few days later if you want.
It's discussed further here: golfcourselawn.store/pages/lawn-care-faqs
@@RonHenry I swore I read if dry after 24 hrs water it in. Oh well. I hope it work after 24 hrs plus needed to water yard after no rain all week and hotter weather. Thanks.
@@RonHenry Irrigation: Do not apply this product immediately before rainfall or irrigation. For best results, do not irrigate or water the turfgrass within 24 hours after application. If dry conditions exist, a scheduled irrigation or watering 24 hours before and 24 hours after application is recommended.
Here is instruction. I am Not comprehending well ?
@@ericb2861 that is more general guidance for working spectracide into your normal irrigation schedule. Watering the product in isn't required for it to work. Again, I'm assuming you're talking about the orange bottle that connects to a hose end sprayer. As long as it had time to dry before you irrigated, you're good to go.
Hey Ron, my yard is 8000sqft. How many yards of topdressing would I need and how thick do I apply it? I live in the Chicago suburbs so I was going to have a local landscape supply deliver it. Do you think it's too early?
General rule is 1 yard per 1000 square feet Zach. If you're lawn is greening up and you're mowing then by all means top dress.
Thanks!
anytime
hey Ron, can you share a link to a leveling rake that you prefer?
Here you go: ron-henry.com/levelingrake
Love the videos Ron! Super knowledgeable content. I had some questions for you. I have a 5yr old lawn that was sodded with centipede. Southeast Louisiana. I have some Bermuda (common I assume?) naturally starting to take over about 1/4 of my backyard. I love the look of …
Bermuda so I was going to overseed my yard with a Yukon since you can’t find the Arden15 anymore.
Hi Cody. You can replace the centipede with Bermuda if you want. A selective way to kill it is quinclorac. Quinclorac: ron-henry.com/quincloracdf You can send pics to ron@golfcourselawn.com
How do you keep the squirrels and other annoying critters off the lawn after the top dressing?
I don’t have that issue eh. Cat or some other predator to keep them away.
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed Dennis W!
The leveling rake link doesn't look like that one you are using.
The one I’m using is more expensive. If you want the one I have, it’s the RR products rake.
My front yard slope or hill is kicking my butt. Wont stsy green
It's definitely a challenge.
I just did that to my front yard last weekend. My back is still hurting! You look like Tiger Woods in his prime strolling down the 18th on Sunday wearing his classic red and black and about to win yet another tournament. I look like my boy John Daly taking a smoke break behind the oak tree and hydrating on a cold beer. I only died 8 times Saturday. I’m going to have to try that product. What I put out looked like ass.
I got a laugh out of that Joey. John is still playing golf though while Tiger is on the mend. Don't count out old Daly. 😎
@@RonHenry Fair enough. You can be Scottie Scheffler he’s putting in work grinding. I’m still John. Long off the tee but often in the sand. Ron that Iron bio nutrient spray turned my yard dark green in about 3 days. That stuff really works well.
Need a follow up video to see if this actually helped/worked?
It did. You can see video of the lawn from this year.

Hey
🙌
Thank you!
I only do my lawn to please myself, not to make neighbors envy it. 😂
Nice nice
$60 for 1 bag!? that’s about $2K worth of top dressing you got there.. looks like I’ll be staying with my unleveled lawn lol 😢
I like to get potty soil (screen it with 1/4 screen “cost 14 bucks at HD) then mix the screened material with mason sand) that way you get some organic material without the sticks and bark.
It’s an alternative!
@@RonHenry I do love your channel and all of your knowledge you have shared. It has turned my Bermuda grass around! and can’t wait for the day I can try some of this carbonized PN! I’m finishing up school so On a tight budget for now.
If you’re buying it in bulk, the super sack is a better deal. golfcourselawn.store/products/carbonizpn%E2%84%A2-2000-lb-super-sack
I get it Conrad. I appreciate you watching the content. Happy you’re getting good results from the content. 🙏😎
65 bucks a bag....oh my
The good stuff :-)
Yeah one good Tx flood , all gone.
@@RonHenry bruh, in this economy gotta be some other 'good stuff' :)
@@zooboyz1429 🤷♂

How did you know I have 5 yards of sand being delivered today 😂
