Absolutely one of my favorite movies --- and that opening scene with the colors -- flowing. I never forgot it since childhood and have continued to watch it over the years - decades. I’ve always wondered about that “pendulum” - what it was made from - Was it real ? Was it cardboard ? Was it metal ? What was it attached to ? and what John Kerr was thinking when it was tearing his shirt. I remember being mesmerized with it swinging back and forth while trying to eat my popcorn which was spilling all over myself, the seat and the floor. 😂 Now I know DECADES LATER.

PIT AND THE PENDULUM is, by far, the darkest and scariest of all Corman's Poe films. It is so scary, it seems as if Mario Bava directed it.
As a child - it was especially scary.
Oh fantastic! I love this film- Easily my favorite Poe Adaptation- yet I very seldom see discussions on it.
