- The Daewoo USAS-12 (Universal Sporting Automatic Shotgun) is based on Maxwell Atchisson's 1972 design of the AA-12 assault shotgun. In 1989, Gilbert Equipment Co. (USA) wanted to produce an Atchisson of its own. Since Gilbert had no manufacturing capabilities, it looked elsewhere for possible manufacturers. The only maker that agreed to produce the weapon was a South Korean company called Daewoo Precision Industries, part of the Daewoo conglomerate. They adapted the design to their manufacturing techniques, and mass production commenced in the early 1990s and continues to this day.
The USAS-12 in semi automatic form was available through regular chains of commerce until 1993, when then President Bill Clinton, at the behest of a gun control group (Handgun Control, Inc.), directed then Secretary of the Treasury Lloyd Bentsen to declare three specific self loading shotguns to be destructive devices under an obscure portion of the Federal Code, which allowed the Head of the Treasury Dept. to declare any weapon over .50 Caliber to be declared a destructive device by decree. The three banned shotguns were (a) the SWD/Cobray Streetsweeper, the (b) the Armsel Striker-12 shotgun and the (c) Semi automatic USAS-12. The gun control group also requested that the pump action Mossberg 500 also be banned (due to the "frightening design" of the Mossberg 500 bullpup) but Bentsen refused. It is ironic that the full auto USAS-12 shotguns were still available to Title II approved owners and dealers with no additional paperwork required, but the Semi automatic version required a 'Destructive Device' permit from the ATF to possess and transfer. Once a shotgun like the USAS-12 was 'legally a Destructive Device' the ATF restricted import of complete guns and replacement parts based on regulations from the Gun Control Act of 1968.

You can tell which media has people who knows their guns when its use as an auto shotgun as opposed to a standard rifle.
Well depends on what they got their hands on their were a handful of semi autos that were registered in the US as destructive devices and a few post 86 examples.
Fun fact about Van Pelts choice of guns in Jumanji: both his lever action rifle & the "rifle" he got at the gun store are actually shotguns mocked up to look like rifles.

@@mr_ThreeEight_1776 Both weapons are treated as rifles, not shotguns firing slugs. After getting the USAS, Pelt even uses it like a long range rifle when Alan is being arrested. But yeah, slugs makes logical sense.
@@mr_ThreeEight_1776 The projectile seen at [ 1:13 ] is too long and too thin to pass for a 12-gauge slug. Also, even if using a USAS-12 as a dedicated slug gun, that's way more scope than he needs.
I didn't know that was a USA-12 in "Jumanji." I ALWAYS WONDERED what kind of gun that was.

I think it's one of the coolest shotguns. It was really fun to use in a video game far cry 2 as well.
South African design I believe. Tends to get over shadowed by the AA-12 but it's a nice shotgun regardless.

Well, to be honest, AA-12 is better in every way. But USAS-12 is straight up badass.

This is completely false. The AA12 prototype has been around for some time before the USAS12 blueprint which is based on that of AA12, came around. The AA12 by all means exist before the USAS12 became a thing.
AA 12 prototypes were made in 1972, the ones you see in media started being made in 2005. Usas 12 started production around 1989 two years earlier the pancor jackhammer was patented but never mass produced.
But still better than AA-12
Always liked that weapon. Very few seem to shoulder it though. It seems the space force seems to shoot from the hip.

Daewoo usas 12 12 gauge automatic shotgun uses buckshot rounds or basically armored piercing slug rounds which the casings are colored in Black just to let you know this shotgun is known to be one thing and one thing only to destroy everything that gets in its way I know so protecting your ass from getting shot it can give you a lot of suppressing power and the bad guys running fear when they see you firing this damn gun

I've never seen the film but knowing about it's cult following I might give it a watch and see if I spot any other cool stuff.

It’s not powerful, it doesn’t even have a Magnum chamber, all modern shotguns are chambered for Magnum, they banned it because it looks scary, and politicians don’t like scary design.

And then in STALKER Anomaly, one of 'em ends up being on sale in the Zone. How a Korean gun like this one ends up in Ukraine is something that the stalkers there would very much like to know.
(Btw, it's an awesome gun when I bought one for myself. Despite the con of carrying the weight of the ammo and the gun itself, it makes up for it when you're fighting hordes of mutants like snorks, tushkanos, zombies and zombified stalkers. For hunting, there are better choices out there but I'll take the automatic shotgun any other day when I'm about to go spelunking into the underground labs and tunnels of the Zone.)

This Automatic Shotgun is in the Goldeneye remake of 2010/11 for Nintendo Will& PS3/Xbox 360 it looks way better on 360 i recommend using it in semi automatic only at mid range of course but full auto is ok for clos range shots!

I didn't know they used real life kinetic weapons in Stargate. Of course, I never watched it but I figured since it's a sci-fi show they'd use energy weapons.
They use both. They use handheld and staff energy weapons from the goaould but also shotguns,mp5 , p90s and many m16/m4 variants plus m9 pistols. Sg-1 is essentially an airforce team. Sg1 usually hasd mp5 and p90s. Other sg teams like the marine one used mainky m16.
