Had a street legal one of these, bought new. Had violent recoil. Sold it to an individual before they were made a taxed item. ATF never contacted me to determine it's disposition. It wasn't a terrible weapon, but the recoil was greater than I wished to endure. Had a rather open pattern with buckshot, which could be advantageous in close quarters.
I had four of them .....I traded 3 for 3 Spectre assault pistols....9mm, 40 sw ,and 45 acp. Still have the spectres today. I use to set up at the local gunshows and my tables were the draw. My knife and gun collection was second to none around Jackson Ms. However after one of the venders that had a direct line to trijicon, were followed home ,all their firearms stolen and killed in Arkansas, I stopped setting up at gun shows. Have not been to one after that crime. The other one I had was traded for a set of corbra 428 heads.
I mean the gun came from a Rhodesian man who then emigrated to south africa, "you know, 'cuz" the gun wasn't exactly designed for anything good or reasonable
I can see the advantages of the Striker as a breaching weapon, but I like the idea of having two of them. You could potentially swap an empty Striker off to a partner, who'd give you a fresh one while they go through the full reloading process in a cleared area.
I'm often curious as to where guns in games come from, especially when based off of real guns. In the STALKER game series, this gun shows up as the "Eliminator", and is very useful for dealing with groups of mutants. Still takes a while to reload, though, so you'd better be reloading the moment you get a chance. That said, it's fun to see that there's some sort of real research put into some of these games, even if they are just fiction in the end.
I've lived near Ridgway my entire life and never knew the US Striker 12 was made there. I legitimately freaked out when I saw the manufacturers mark. It's so awesome to learn that such an iconic and infamous shotgun was produced so close to where I live.

Ian, Please talk about your hatred of SBR's/AR pistols. I dont understand why you hate them so much and i cant find any q&a's where you discuss it. Thank you!
TOBA Tim maybe he’s just a pragmatist. AR pistols are just toys with no good use. Clumsy, loud, and too short of a barrel to take advantage of the rifle cartridge. SBRs for the same lack of barrel length for no real gain(sub 16”)
From InRange, that I understand it - Part of it is that 5.56 relies on velocity to be an effective round (that we all understand), part of it is that where Ian and Karl live they see the world in distance-shots for their SHTF arms. If one accepts both points, and relies upon a 16" or 18" barrel for 5.56, then 300 blackout, and other more apt cartridges for shorter barrels, just don't come into play - and, thus, aren't their focus. Meanwhile, the maximum distance I can see shooting, or even see, if I'm not up on top of a building, is about 100 to 150 yards. So an AR pistol (300 BO, or 11.5" or greater 5.56 barrel) is all I need, or ever foresee using here.
@@alexanderstrickland9036 How are they "clumsy"? They are more compact and have the potential to weigh less than a rifle or carbine. That is the rationale they used in the WWSD project when they settled on the 16" and 14.5" barrels over the 18"-20"+. You could argue that the braces aren't ideal and are uncomfortable compared to stocks (which most people would agree with), but some of the more modern adjustable ones come pretty damn close to a proper stock. Not to mention, a lot of places you could keep an ar pistol as a truck gun if you have a concealed carry license, where a long gun might cause a problem, specifically with regards to how the ammunition and firearm are being transported (a lot of places require them to be stored separate, in the trunk usually or something similar). Cartridges like 300 blackout can definitely perform well in shorter barrels. A 10.5" blackout will still have about the same energy as a 16" 5.56, and a 12" will have more (depending on how everything is loaded of course). I'm not completely sold on 5.56 from shorter barrels (
He's just a practical guy. I recall GJ saying the same thing on inrange TV or a q&a about bump stocks. The AR pistols do make fine suppressed machines with the right ammo!
I believe the British Arwen 37 came a out a few years before this would have. 5 round 37mm rotary drum for anti riot rounds/less lethal, although they aren't conventional 37mm grenades. Still in use too. Edited, Arwen not a Anwen.
The Penn arms/deftech 37mm and 40mm launchers use pretty much the same mechanical system save for a top break loading design instead of a fixed drum with a loading port.
thanks for the review. nice special piece there. would be more practical for the user to reload in stress if they did a spring assisted revolver shotgun that could break open to manually remove used slugs. imagine you press a button to rotate open the cylinder pull a lever to half push/eject rounds then manually replace used rounds to lock back for action. keeping that manual spring intact to help with trigger weight.
It's impressive and a very clever design, I wonder why the rear of the ejection port wasn't curved to help throw out the spent cartridges (and help to feed new ones)?
The Saiga is simply a box magazine fed shotgun. Available drums are accessories. If you designed and submitted a new integral drum shotgun, the BATF would designate it as a destructive device. Great Video!
As a breacher, I would find the capacity to be just a bit much, 8 rounds would make the drum more compact and practical for that job. What it would be really practical for would be introducing gas, either into a house through ferret rounds, or into a crowd. 40mm is better, but the rounds are expensive and heavy. With this you could carry around 50 rounds, allowing you to push a crowd around quite a bit with OC-loaded impact munitions.
They out to market it in 410 gage and call it the Striker 30 with an 18" barrel and folding stock to get around the destructive device designation problem. Great for those pesky squirrels.
If it was chambered for .410 then you could do the opposite of the Taurus Judge - a shotgun with .45 LC as a backup rather than the other way around. Just in case, for example, a bear got upset at the noise you were making while potting squirrels. Or the hyper evolved squirrel with kevlar fur, whichever you think is most likely :P

Funny story, my sister was playing resident evil 4 for the first time. I was guiding her all the way to where you meet the merchant telling her that you will meet one of the few friends you will have in this game. His introduction scenes begin. She forgets or does not get where he went even though the cut- scene just show her. I tell her on the side of shack she goes there see the merchant, scream, shoot him in the head; which is surprising to me because she found the control difficult and thus her aim was horrendous. She miss 99% of her shots. I start to scream why; she said that she thought it was a monster. I tell her that you just saw his cut- scene she said she forgot and I was more dumbfounded. I just sat there and said to myself "in all the way she took him down it was a head shot. A quick one too" then broke out laughing at the realization of all of our events. Good times.
*Edit* I remember the incident being more stupid so I went to see the whole scene and there a second cut scene where you are then put in the sell menu. Meaning she conducted a transaction with him left the sale menu forget who she looking at scream and shoot in the face. I am going to show her this so I make fun of her again.
I kept one of these in the trunk of my cruiser along with other specialized weapons ... great stuff!
Stanger...stranger! Now thats a weapon!

Mossberg and Remington hate competition. Just fuck the established indistries deep inside.
Thing is that it's not much of a loss, Its a horrible gun to use. Only thing interesting is the novelty of it being a revolver like shotgun.
I mean the gun came from a Rhodesian man who then emigrated to south africa, "you know, 'cuz" the gun wasn't exactly designed for anything good or reasonable
They just ruin all the fun
I can see the advantages of the Striker as a breaching weapon, but I like the idea of having two of them. You could potentially swap an empty Striker off to a partner, who'd give you a fresh one while they go through the full reloading process in a cleared area.
Another of my fave firearms of all time.South African small arms came out with some great stuff
Neat game bruh.
I had one of these for several years, wish I had kept it. Honestly I would prefer this for home defense vs a shockwave.

He has talked a fair bit about it, perhaps in specific gun videos but perhaps more on his InRangeTV content.
That's a clever design. I wonder if that's where the grenade launcher design came from.
I believe the British Arwen 37 came a out a few years before this would have. 5 round 37mm rotary drum for anti riot rounds/less lethal, although they aren't conventional 37mm grenades. Still in use too. Edited, Arwen not a Anwen.
I remember picking this gun up in the Burger Town MW2 mission has a kid and wondering why wasn't the grenade launcher blowing things up :D
The Penn arms/deftech 37mm and 40mm launchers use pretty much the same mechanical system save for a top break loading design instead of a fixed drum with a loading port.
“Hey, check out this neat semi-automatic revolving shotgun!”
“That’s cool, but how can we make it fuck even more shit up at once?”

Interesting video as always....i hope you’ll eventually do a video on the USAS-12 and AA-12. my favorite full auto shotguns.
thanks for the review. nice special piece there. would be more practical for the user to reload in stress if they did a spring assisted revolver shotgun that could break open to manually remove used slugs. imagine you press a button to rotate open the cylinder pull a lever to half push/eject rounds then manually replace used rounds to lock back for action. keeping that manual spring intact to help with trigger weight.

Bank robber to police: "Time out" I gotta wind my gun up.....
The Saiga is simply a box magazine fed shotgun. Available drums are accessories. If you designed and submitted a new integral drum shotgun, the BATF would designate it as a destructive device. Great Video!
Man i love Forgotten weapons its basically the history channel for guns
Really makes me appreciate how simple my Saiga 12 is to load... and unload
This doesn't seem that bad at all... With practice it seems like it would be easily reloaded in under a minute.
@@TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou Oh yeah, it's like loading a revolver. Just not quite as quick as modern box magazines are lol
We all know this gun from call of duty. This gun was a beast in the games
The idea is solid, had the thing had (quickly) detachable magazines, it would have been a seriously viable shotgun for quite a while.
I had a street sweeper back in the day. Loved it!
I want one for no reason other than "omg look at it " feeling it gives me
They out to market it in 410 gage and call it the Striker 30 with an 18" barrel and folding stock to get around the destructive device designation problem. Great for those pesky squirrels.
Still has the scary name though - change it to "Church Charity Turkey Shoot 30" and give the stock a faux wood grain finish and you're good to go.
What's wrong with squirrels?
I had thought to perhaps re-do it into 16 gauge or perhaps 20 for the wimpy among us, thus avoid the 1/2 inch designation.
They pretty much did, but as a .45/70 pistol that could chamber .410, Ian has a video on one, the Cobray Lady's Home Companion
