- China's high speed rail network is the world's longest and most extensively used. By the end of 2022 China's HSR network reached a total length of 42,000 kilometers (26,000 mi) and is set to reach a whopping 70,000 km (43,000 mi) by 2035
China's HSR accounts for two-thirds of the world's total high-speed railway networks.
The "Dawan District" shield machine is a super-large-diameter shield tbm tailored for the Pearl River Mouth Tunnel jointly by China Railway Tunnel Bureau and China Railway Engineering Equipment Group. It was truly an amazing experience to see this thing in person and actually go inside of it!
China has been building an absolutely stunning amount of new infrastructure over the past few years, and the world is just won't believe it. From bridges to highways to airports, China is doing an amazing job of making a mark on the world stage.

In the past, only German companies could produce these tunnel boring machines (TBMs), and encouraged by their arrogance and astronomical prices, China is now one of the leading producers of TBMs in the international market.
No,the Japs can make TBM too ! but the Jap and German companies have poor services in case of technical emergency and they would forbid outside engineers/technicians to get near their machines..

"Today is public holiday in Germany, so I can't work!" "Sorry, now I need to take a coffee break!" "Work overtime? Ok, but you need to pay double, triple..." " Chinese engineers can't get close to the machine. Only Germans allowed on the site!" .......... So, when the machine broke down, it always took them forever to fix it while everyone had to wait.🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂

I am from Southeast Asia country with slightly dark brown skin. I was in New Delhi for exhibition at the Exhibition Centre Pragati Madan before Covid pandenic. An Indian that I have met in one of the Indian exhibition booths and he told me this when we were discussing and comparing Indian and Chinese products. I was surprised he told me this. "The Chinese they are learning very fast from us Indian. In the next 20 years times they sure be able to catch up with us" I just smiles and and said, oh! yes. India is already a superpower and China is still a developing country. He seems so happy with my replied to him.

0:36 I catched the passed train:)). More than 10 years ago, India bought 8 super large Tunnel Boring Machines from China, to save money, the Indians didn't require Chinese engineers to assemble those TBM but tried to do so by themselves. So many years passed, they're still struggling and not a single TBM has been assembled correctly. However, it took only 6 years for China to develop their own TBM.
Because most Indian work just using their mouth not head... this is from my real life experience.

I took the Gao Tie (high-speed train in Chinese) numerous times and the network is really impressive with stations almost as big as airports

到了广西，隧道最密集的应该是河池---都安高速，一百公里36个隧道，就感觉没出过隧道一样

It took San Francisco 10 years to build 1.5 miles of underground subway. From South of Market Street to Chinatown. It was several $20 Million over budget.
The San Francisco Bay Bridge was also built in modules by the chinese in China and shipped it to the US. All the americans did was to do the assembly work in California, and the pouring of the concrete road surface, this was so the Bridge will be done within budget and on time.
With virtually no mention of it by the San francisco administration and media, all the people think the Bay bridge was done by them.
That is NOT a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
It is a Stargate, that will take you to ✨wonderful💫 places. 🇨🇳

A few decades ago, China did not have this giant machine and had to buy them from foreign countries. The maintenance cost was very high and the foreign engineers did not teach our engineers. Now this giant machine is being sold to foreign countries.

incredible video on your visit to underwater tunnel drilling. We used to marvel German engineers but now China engineering is the marvel.
Something that Jason should comment on is the farcical situation that is occurring in his and my country the UK , over 10 or more years ago plans to build a High Speed Railway from central London to first Birmingham then on to Manchester then Leeds with a huge up grade of the Manchester to Glasgow, unfortunately the first stage now starts out side London and the original cost has quadrupled just to Birmingham and is probably 10 years from completion, and finaly an announcement any day now it looks like that no more will be built, the reason is we are broke ,no money. but at least you can get to Birmingham 20 minutes quicker but not know whrn😢😢😢

200 kmh actually don't really qualify as high speed rail. All other high speed rails in the world are from around 270-350 kmh. And they claimed it will shorten the travel time by 30 minutes compare to driving, yeah, only 30 minutes. And the tickets are from US$79-198. That is insane. The company is going to go bankrupt within 10 years unless they get some kind of subsidy from the government.
