I'm on the Internet researching nine in half months in advance because my mom waits till the last minute. I want everything to go smooth for us. Like you said Ilana don't wing your Port days so I'm trying to get as much information on those as well because my mom has mobility issues and that is definitely going to limit what she can do vs. what she wants to do unfortunately.

Glad you mentioned a travel umbrella. Instead of a regular travel umbrella I purchased a travel sun umbrella for my Caribbean cruises. This way I am covered rain or shine. Using the sun umbrella makes it cooler on a hot day and I am not adding to my sun exposure.
nothing wrong with being an over-packer, as long as you have the room. You get alot in that carryon bag! I don’t want to be stuck saying I wish I had something I that I left at home.
I'm getting all of my things ready and this video was good timing. I'll definitely be bringing an outfit for the first evening in my embarkation carry on. I didn't think of that and it's smart.
Even if you don't wear glasses, bring a glasses repair kit! My sunglasses lost a screw somewhere, and I did not have a repair kit. I'm just glad it was my sunglasses and not my kids' eyeglasses. Anyway, I ended up spending $60 on a pair of sunglasses that would probably have been $20 or less on land, and I don't even like them that much. If you don't do this, bring spare sunglasses (or eyeglasses)!
I not only take a repair kit but I also take an extra pair of glasses. In order to fix my glasses I have to wear the second pair so I can see to fix them. I’m totally blind without glasses. 😂

Looks like the Bento bag luggage sleeve is wide enough to accommodate Level8 luggage, and the bag fits under the airplane seat. Those two features make it a worthy buy.
Was really liking the Nomad Lane Bento Bag... but absolutely fell in LOVE with it when you showcased that extra zipper on the luggage strap... you can tell that regular travellers have contributed to the design of this bag! It seems a minor feature... but it would make a huge difference for those last minute things you want ready access to... I can myself putting a book or magazine in there so its easy to grab on the plane
I’m getting ready to go on my very first ever cruise in December so I could spend New Year’s Eve on Norwegian and going to the Mexican Riviera. I’ve watched every single video I can to try to learn what to do and what not to do on a cruise because I’m going solothank you for all that you show us and talk about.
I just got back from a cruise- Carnival Vista. We had a great time other than the constant rocking from the crazy winds coming from all directions. Can you do a video about serenity/lido deck etiquette? I had someone get “mouthy” with me for moving their towel out of a chair that had been sitting there for over 1.5 hours. There were elderly people and others who were actually part of the “spa” decks that could not find chairs because others would “save seats” with their items and disappear for hours. 40 minutes is the longest that was allowed on the Vista.
Fyi, push comes to shove, if you have a flat iron and no corkscrew, you can heat the neck of the bottle to pop the cork out. It is not fast.. like 10 or 15 minutes, but necessity is the mother of invention.
I’ve had the Bento bag since V2. It’s the best “personal bag” to put over my rollaboard carry-on. It’s top notch and worth every penny. Yea it’s an investment but it STANDS UP and DELIVERS

I’m thinking this “personal” bag will useful for heavier items to meet the weight requirements. Also taking the train, I’ll need to be able to travel effectively.
Do you have a suggestion for a man’s version of the Bento bag? I use a backpack but it’s one that I use for work trips. I don’t want to be reminded of work on my vacation! 😂 Thanks.

California Linda adds bubble wrap wine bottle containers will safely transport wine or other fragile glass items. They can be used multiple times, and they have been a must on every cruise for the past twenty years. One year, I brought home lemoncello in one, and another year, a treasured piece of Irish crystal. Next year, who knows ?
When flying to your destination, can you carry the Bento bag as your under seat bag and one piece of carry-on luggage? Does the bento bag count as one piece luggage?
Yes, you can! What I would do if I was going without a checked bag especially is pack exactly like this, but also have my rolling carry on luggage. Frank had our carry on size luggage as his carry on so it worked for us
Bring a small sewing kit. Just in case a strap breaks on a dress or a button pops off of a piece of clothing. A needle and thread a fix a wardrobe malfunction 😊
I take my *_NINE_* Cruising Ducks with me in my carry on so I can start hiding as soon as I'm board (if I want... especially on the 2-4 night cruises) Why NINE ducks... well it's because I can fit NINE tags on a single A4 sheet of paper, which then cut up and placed in laminated business card sized pouches. I enjoy hiding them but don't need to be overly obsessive about it and nine is a good number That said, I might need to start looking at a second set of nine... my travel companion seems to enjoy hiding them even more than me... so I might give him his own set to hide. Also I pack the ducks in a large pencil case... I had it already and it fits the nine ducks very nicely... and places them all together.
Regarding bringing a bottle of wine in your carryon- will it be allowed at the airport? Or will they take it away from you? OR-do I put it in our checked luggage ???

Can you get Bonine in Canada? I can't seem to find it. Also, we are heading out Sunday on an NCL transatlantic cruise. We will be leaving Toronto for 28'C Miami, then ending up in 11'C Europe (Belgium and France). I'm planning on layering, but packing has been a challenge! Also, is there any use buying duty free wine? Are we allowed to bring a bottle on board with NCL?
Nice!! No, you can buy it in Walgreens etc. I actually order it to my hotel (most times) and bring home for people 😂. I believe you can still bring wine on ncl, although you’ll have a corkage fee. Enjoy!!
We are going on a 12 night cruise in December to the southern caribbean. I have only ever packed for week long trips. I am struggling with over-packing. What is your advise for longer cruises? Loved this video! Thanks!
Sounds great! I have a video for packing for a longer cruise (we also did 12 nights last November) that might be helpful. My advice is pack for a week & rewear some, & plan to do a bit of laundry either on your own or many cruise lines have laundry special you can take advantage of
@LifeWellCruised I will definitely give Princess Cruise lines a call to ask about an exception list. Thank you so much because I have been fretting about what my hair will look like without a without a curling iron, especially on the formal nights.
As crew member, I suggest you to do not bring irons, hair-strainer or small knife inside your bag, there could be a delay in delivering your bag. Actually, your suitcase might even be held up by the ship’s security personnel.
I really enjoy your videos! I downloaded your cruise planner and tried to open it with Word. It is not formatted correctly on word. I cannot change it and can't figure out how to open it in another program. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for reaching out - I’m happy to help! Please send me an email at lifewellcruised@gmail.com so I can help you directly & send you another version. I can’t message on UA-cam :). Thanks ~ Ilana
For the snacks portion, try not to bring chips that are coated ( Doritos, Cheezies) or chocolate bars ( in warmer climates) I’d prefer not to start my cruise with orange fingers or melted chocolate hands or even a melted chocolate bar in my carry on.
Oh no, mine is 17 1/2 X 15 1/2 X 7, it is too large, 😞😟🤨I’m using it for quilting class now, I may make one with the correct measurements, thanks for letting me know the correct measurements.
A very insightful video itâs interesting how sometimes people buy replicas and then pretend they are the real thing, which in a way feeds into that sense of exclusivity that discourages people from buying the real thing in the first kislux ! Like the drama that happened on the reality show Singles in Hell
This is such a long shot, since it seems like you're not a big Carnival girl. But will you happen to be sailing on the carnival jubilee out of galveston on january 25, 2025?
Yes, depending on the height under the seat it can either fit standing up (like on American Airlines & Air Transat) or flat (air Canada). This was from our recent flights :)
Packing is so stressful for me. For longer cruises 🚢I pack two large suitcases. If you’re going to become a frequent cruiser, I would recommend buying curling & flat irons, and outlet boxes in a Third World country. The ones with the two long prongs are $10.00 -the outlet is in front of your outer cabin mirror. 😊 Pardon my grammar.
@@sharonsimon7366 I'm going on Princess, this is what they have under their prohibited items list: "Scissors with blades longer than 4 inches". Mine aren't 4 inches long and they have rounded tips at the ends. If they confiscate them, it's okay, I've had them forever. I just always take them with me when I travel, but this is my first time cruising.
You should never leave your lights, TV, and A/C on when you are out of your cabin. If everyone did this during the day, that would be a terrible drain on the ship's power and far from being eco-friendly. If your room steward enters your room while you are out and notices, then you could also be in trouble for that sort of behavior.
What I learned was to look at what I didn't use on a trip. Next trip, a lot of makeup stayed home and I kept a smaller kit. Please please don't put your refillable water bottle up over the water dispenser nozzle, that's not sanitary for the rest of us.

Why NINE ducks... well it's because I can fit NINE tags on a single A4 sheet of paper, which then cut up and placed in laminated business card sized pouches.
I enjoy hiding them but don't need to be overly obsessive about it and nine is a good number
That said, I might need to start looking at a second set of nine... my travel companion seems to enjoy hiding them even more than me... so I might give him his own set to hide.
Also I pack the ducks in a large pencil case... I had it already and it fits the nine ducks very nicely... and places them all together.
@@NicholasPyers that’s very cute! I actually updated my article on cruise ducks last night so this has been on my mind 😂
Thank you, Ilana!
Glad you enjoyed the video 🛳️
Hi,
What is the lightest weight luggage you suggest?
Thank you
@@Maui204 not sure what you mean. In another video I can talk about full size luggage
@LifeWellCruised Hi
I am interested in full size luggage that is possibly less than 10 pounds.
Thank you and I enjoy your content!
@@Maui204Check out luggage by the brands July and Quince…they are pretty lightweight and won’t break the bank.
@angelacastagna3824 thank you
Best way to pack soda and wine?
Makeup wipes do they count as liquid?
I had to look it up to be sure, but apparently not
@@LifeWellCruised that’s what I was thinking
We're did you get your pill organizer?
It’s on amazon- I put all the links in the video description box (below the title)
I got the pill organizers and they are amazing. I have had others open and pills all over. Not with this one and it is so compact to put in my purse
Regarding bringing a bottle of wine in your carryon- will it be allowed at the airport? Or will they take it away from you? OR-do I put it in our checked luggage ???
Or do I pack it in our checked in luggage ?
Bardzo lubię twoje filmy❤
Dużo się z nich dowiedziałam

Ilana I know that this video is for carry-ons but I'm in need of how to pack for a 72 day cruise and do you have any information on Viking Cruises?
Wow! I think we need a capsule wardrobe video
@@LifeWellCruised That would be wonderful!! That's what my daughter said I needed. I must be living under a rock. I'm not sure what that is!!
@@denisegrimes8026 I’ll make one - it’s a way of mixing and matching items in a limited wardrobe
Ship laundry access/cost should also be researched prior to a cruise of this length!
@@bethdavis6863 yes, we have access to a launderette, free of charge.
My advice is pack for a week & rewear some, & plan to do a bit of laundry either on your own or many cruise lines have laundry special you can take advantage of
Do laundry 1/2 way through, only packing for 6 days. No one will notice if you rewear stuff. Doing that for my BTB Caribbean cruise(s) next month.
QUESTION: What cruise line is this? You packed a curling iron, which I wish was allowed on Princess cruises
I bring on every cruise. Typically curling irons are on an exemption list
Hi, do you keep your perscription medications out in your Stateroom or locked in the safe?
For the snacks portion, try not to bring chips that are coated ( Doritos, Cheezies) or chocolate bars ( in warmer climates) I’d prefer not to start my cruise with orange fingers or melted chocolate hands or even a melted chocolate bar in my carry on.
Do you put a lock on your luggage (like TSA apvd) when dropping off?
I use luggage that has a combination lock, so yes
My room steward has brought me a corkscrew when I asked.
That’s awesome
Does this bag get heavy if you have to carry it through the airport because your luggage had to be checked?
@@chrisf1881 it depends what you put in. I placed it on my rolling carry on size luggage (my husband’s carry on)
I don't have the greatest back so I'm still looking for the perfect roller personal bag. I have my Level 8 carryon, but I need a roller personal bag.
@@ChristineF55 I understand. I haven’t found any with wheels. The best I’ve found are luggage handle sleeves (such as this)
I would love to know the size of that bag the width depth and height if you don’t mind.
@@carolynadams1249 let me check :)

A very insightful video itâs interesting how sometimes people buy replicas and then pretend they are the real thing, which in a way feeds into that sense of exclusivity that discourages people from buying the real thing in the first kislux ! Like the drama that happened on the reality show Singles in Hell
Thankyou so much for the Information mam nice to Hear this Video si Big Helpul mam
Question…is my hair straightener allowed? It says “flat irons” not allowed. Thank you. Ruby Princess
Typically hair tools are an exception:)
NOMAD is really trying to promote their products, this is like the 10th influencer or creator I have seen post in the past week.
This is such a long shot, since it seems like you're not a big Carnival girl. But will you happen to be sailing on the carnival jubilee out of galveston on january 25, 2025?
I’d love to get to Galveston! Unfortunately not, but I’ll share my next cruise soon & you might be surprised 😉
Do you have a list of these items in your cruise planner book?
@@jessicakilburn yes carry on bag items
Does the bento bag fit under the seat in front of you?
Yes, depending on the height under the seat it can either fit standing up (like on American Airlines & Air Transat) or flat (air Canada). This was from our recent flights :)
I have so many y questions for u I don’t know where to start lol
@@PatriciaNorton-j9u lol start with one 😂
You know, I have been cruising since 2007 and have never taken a carry on. I may someday. (Do take all documents)
We’re all different & that’s ok. Whatever works for you :)
Pardon my grammar.
I'm always looking for ways to streamline my packing for any trip! Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Ila a!
Oh no, losing your bags? What happens if you on a cruise and the airport looses your bag? 😱
I always bring a small pair of scissors.
the information on Carnival says no knives or scissors.
Thanks for sharing! I find I bring less makeup too for a cruise
That cost more than i expected!
It’s not inexpensive, but when you get it you can see why. The material is thick & high quality, leather straps, & a very thoughtful construction
What are the rules for prescription medications?
