- ASIMO-Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility-is a humanoid robot designed and developed by Honda as a multifunctional robotic assistant. Honda also developed the Bodyweight Support Assist device to help support bodyweight to reduce the load on the user's legs while walking, going up and down stairs and in a semi-crouching position. A third Honda device, Stride Management Assist, is designed for the elderly or people with weakened leg muscles, but who can still walk on their own.

I have Dermatomyositis and have envisioned the 'stride management assist' in my brain. But now I see that it exists! Thank you for your research/engineering! PS) I would be happy to be a guinea pig ! This could be a whole new world for me. The only reason I use a walker (stroll-a-tor), is because my disease eats my core muscles. I have strong legs and arms... I desperately seek a way to rid my dependency on the walker!!
My parents definitely need this so much ! Not sure why this is not yet commercialised

@@rmrevisions3428 I tried to message all available HONDA websites, and almost no reply. Japan websites are untouchable, only american ones replied and they said they know nothing about it. Last info for this bodyweight assistant is from 2010. They are definitely not selling it, i don`t know what happened to the whole project. What a shame..

Maybe you should read «blind spot», I strongly recommend it. Maybe you can find it in audio book around here.
As a quicky example, most of us dislike the image of elders.
If you show this to elders using elders as comedians, they won't be tempted to look at it, let alone buy it.
They, and perhaps once you get there, prefer to see younger people using stuff made for them.
I’ve had 2 knee replacements BOTH. Failed.. No I cannot do a. Revision my bones would split with larger internal anchors. Now, its worse than before operations. It’s like trying to walk on raw stumps. Extremely painful. Maybe this would be a really expensive alternative to wheelchair.

It’s 2022 and this video is circa 2000. Nothing available, at least affordable, to the people it claimed to help.

I don't think they are answering your questions here. Go to Honda's web site. It says that lease sales in Japan started in 2015 and certified for EU in 2018. Nothing on the status in the US.
Would this help people with multiple sclerosis with walking difficulties ?
I've had three surgerys on lower back and still suffer everyday. This device could make a tremendous endeavor to get me motivated maybe just maybe walk and bend without little are no pain. I'm 60 years old and on Medicare parts A&B plan. Can this device be used as a part of my insurance to cover this?
I wonder if this would help someone like me with MS? I wear down pretty quickly on a long walk or hike. I would love to get out and check out a long trail next to a waterfall like I used to do.

I should correct what I wrote. it doesn't take a long walk for me to wear down. I am worn with as little as 1km/.6mi.

There are also some devices for foot drop it also cause weakness in my opinion, so i dont take one but think about that, i dont know it will be useful or harmful, maybe makes us more weaker and addicted to that kind pf devices?ehat u think or know related to ms? self regeneration of muscels will happen if load on joints is reduced. OFTEN BACK HIP KNEE PAIN WILL LIMIT ACTIVITY WHICH WILL CAUSE DEGENERATIVE EFFECTS.

I agree with everyone if this was a thing can you imagine how many elderly people would live much longer. They won’t decline so fast from reduction of mobility and their independence will in the long run take burden off the NHS. We have the technology sadly they want people to rely on them, which is stupid.
