      The Chinese unfortunately are world leaders in manufacturing batteries. Reality is that many Americans are anticipated to die in any conflict with China over Taiwan. And this was based on old RAND corp analysis 6 years ago which predict US defeat in a Taiwan war scenario and stalemate in South China Sea scenario.
      The advent of newer and better Chinese weapons, missiles, stealth fighters and drones/ mass produced hypersonic missiles render this balance even more in favor of China.
      What isn't published to the American public is the fact that the Chinese will use initially biochemical and then later nuclear weapons on American cities- particularly NYC, SF, San Diego, Honolulu/Pearl Harbor etc. It is for this reason Japan is likely to also stay strictly neutral.
      The university students in China noted the inability of the US to deal with COVID and have many ideas regarding further weaponization of real biological weapons/viruses to decimate the American population.
      The recent sale of weapons to Taiwan have in fact galvanized some to start offering technology, tactics and materiel for staging biochemical strikes on US soil for foreign extremists. Tactics like dispersible aerosolizable bioweapons to be released at domestic airport waiting areas to maximize spread to multiple US cities and states, while ensuring adequate latency period to minimize detection and population death. This is terrible news for Humanity and utterly preventable if we had respected each other's borders: China respecting the US annexation of their breakaway separatist Confederate States of America, while the US respects China's breakaway Republic of China (what we call Taiwan)

      @@slslbbn4096 ok bot. China itself is still in lockdown after almost 3 years of Covid due to incompetent policies, so I'd say the whole world handled it better than China. Their military is good at barking but nothing else. Their battery tech is hardly the best, their engines haven't even reached Russian levels of performance let alone America's PW engines used in 5th gen planes. And bio/chem weapons is a two way street, the hypersonics China has won't make any difference because their range isn't intercontinental. At any given time US has more carriers than China has ever even seen in it's lifetime. It's funny to imagine anyone would think China would win in that situation. Their J-20 "stealth" is another joke they've tried to pass on as comparable to American tech, in an all out war the F-15/F-35 combo will do far more damage than J-20/J-11s with their inferior radar. Just because China claims capabilities on paper doesn't make it true. Hardly any country buys their military equipment and that says a lot about it.

    Hey guys love these videos keep them up! A couple of quick things: the only Marine Corps Aviation assets that are permanently stationed on Okinawa are two Osprey squadrons (262 and 265) so there are no JSF's stationed there. The two VMFA squadrons in Japan (121 and 242) are stationed up in Iwakuni so they could be on an LHA/LHD if it was sailing with the fleet. The 40 JSF's you have at Kadena need to be switched to F-15's from the two Air Force squadrons (44 and 67) that are stationed there. Doesn't seem like they would make that much difference though as by the time they get to the fight it would be over, but hey you never know. Last thing, the make up of the Carrier Air Wing is too big. I know you addressed the lack of Growlers which is due to the limitations of the game itself, but the fighters aboard a carrier are usually only 4 squadrons worth. Obviously that can be easily changed and if they were purposely going to Taiwan in an act of defiance they could certainly make the decision to carry more fighters. The PL 15 likely is not a better missile than the AIM 120D. It's believed by many experts to be dedicated to anti AWACs and transports missions like other missiles such as the R37. The PL 15 is heavy and quite long, and so unlikely to be able to make the sharp manoeuvres required to hit smaller fighter sized aircraft, while the AIM 120D is much more suited to this.

    • @vector8877
      @vector8877 Рік тому

      @@kalactose348 For the Battery issue many of the PL 15s were fired outside their max range. Some at 115 nautical miles and etc, which is very much the pilots problem and not the games. If you remember last time the old AIM 120Ds were also running out of battery when fired outside 100nm, however firing under would prevent that. Soo from this you can probably conclude there's no bias, it's literally happened to American missiles in the past too.
      And I agree with you that the PL 15 has more claimed range than the AIM 120D due to the dual pulse motor and other factors. However that range only really counts against AWACs and large aircraft, since the PL 15 is designed to shoot them down, and is too large to effectively manoeuvre to shoot down fighter sized aircraft and so would be useless. The Amraam is still superior to shoot down fighters compared to the PL 15, and the PL is better at shooting down large aircraft.
      The AIM 260 JATM is likely being created to shoot down Chinese jets before they can fire their PL 15s on American AWACs and large platforms. That is one real threat the PL 15 presents, however I'm pretty sure it's non existent against fighters

In such a way to maximise the Radar coverage in the air. The US Does have a pretty good datalink, it would make sense for them to utilise it fully. This might not be a thing to do for AWACS under a heavy air to air fight going on but during the later stages they would maximise radar coverage in order to cover any lingerers.

    • @quarefremeruntgentes
      @quarefremeruntgentes Рік тому

      DCS software cannot model submarines. Since much of submersible tech is classified, it seems unclear whether that aspect will ever change. Aside from that, in an air battle of attrition, it seems to me subs would be hunkering below the surface, trying to avoiding enemy sonar buoys and fixed sonar arrays, and maintaining radio silence. At most, maybe a sub might advance to somewhere just outside the range of Chinese sonar, and try to lob a few Tomahawks at Chinese air bases (??).

    The one thing you never model in-game is a CAP for the fleet. Depending on the political scenario the CAP could be covered by the fleet itself but more likely in this scenario, the Air Force from Okinawa would provide CAP for the fleet so the fleet deck crew does not get worn out and is prepared for extended shifts should a military escalation occur.

    • @92HazelMocha

    Great video as always. Below, I basically just agree with your conclusion at the end of the video.
    The one thing I really wanted to see is how the Aegis network handled those anti-ship missiles! It would be awesome if you take that 7th fleet with all of those cruisers and destroyers and see if it can defend that attack. For visual purposes, I think it would look awesome if the missiles came in from 360 degrees and time-on-target.
    I was going to say exactly what you said at the end. The limitation right now lies in DCS AI and in particular the modeling of realistic logistics/battle management/datalink. While I don't know this for a fact, I can only assume the US takes their air superiority very seriously and that would mean planning/training for the possibility of huge aerial battles involving many dozens of plans on both sides. In such a scenario, I don't see how the USAF and USN would simply ignore the issue of optimizing their targets given the total number of missiles they can carry. In fact, I'm sure such strategies are worked on by running their own internal war games and testing various parameters/outcomes with real-world decision-making and load-outs.
    Since the US has such an emphasis on high-quality radar, electronic warfare, AWACS, command & control, and so, I believe they will definitely have software-assisted decision trees to specify in very short timeframes to decide which pilots should fire, along with the selected missile/proper range, and specific target. When we see the rudimentary radar and targeting systems modeled in DCS you effectively select a target manually (with the capability to select multiple targets for ripple salvos) and send it. This method dates back to the 1970s/1980s, so I have to believe their methods for target selection and distribution are much more advanced at present.

My two suggestions for the next iteration are (1) fix the battery problem on the Chinese missiles (obviously) and (2) I still don't think you got the timing quite right at the start. I think the J20's need to attack and try to kill the AWACS well before the main attack is seen on any radar. The US would know that the AWACS were being attacked and would try to scramble everything, but they wouldn't know exactly where to send those planes if AWACS was shot down. Or maybe the CAP aircraft would go active radar and then see the attack coming? Might depend on whether the CAP was F-18's or F-35's, I suppose, given the different radar detection ranges.

    Hey cap, I’m just getting into DCS from hours of experience flying in arma games, and other FPS games with vehicles, ships, artillery, ships, infantry, and drones etc. If you need someone to fly a harrier or a fighter with a full payload of anti ship missiles, or a payload of dummy missiles that will be fired to be diversions, that way real accurate ship killers will have a higher chance of not getting shot down. I’ll even fly a B2 spirit bomber to even drop a low yield nuke, or a entire payload of cluster bombs set to blow up at different altitudes, to cover a wide area and hopefully hit any missiles that are out to shoot down friendly. Also, Japan has nuclear warheads pointed and targeted at set locations in China. So realistically if our fleet got attacked, the Americans stationed at the secret locations will go down into the bunkers, and wait for orders on firing those warheads. True story my buddy was first stationed there when he just joined the chair force, and if the commanding officer didn’t get them to stand down. They would’ve launched all nuclear warheads by accident and caused WW3. Anyway, I’ll describe my background, and what military experience I have in real world. Just a little hint on what I used to do, I used to work with new CTACs who I had fun training and with TACPs who I’d learn something’s from. OIF-OEF 03-12(7 tours) 10years before I got out, and 8 years to get 100% P&T disability. Anyway I live in hawaii and will be happy to play an OP4 or being an extra guy that will divert attention, and launch an entire payload at a high ALT to throw off defense’s, or fly a huge airbus with a modified payload or chaff/flare for evade. I’ll fly one to pull all agro to throw off the opposite sides force, and hope everyone wants to target the huge plane that looks like a giant bomber lol. Hahah my 64Gb DRR5 and 12 Gb GDDR6X 3080ti would love viewing all of this action.
