All these years later, Helen Shapiro is still a magnet to us in our 70's and 80's! My lovely wife of 37 years would not appreciate how much I loved Helen Shapiro from across the pond singing to my music in 2024!
@@keithhutton34 I mean exactly what I wrote. She was so pretty when this was recorded(as a teenager). That does not in anyway, shape or form negate that is still a very attractive woman in her seventies. I suspect her work for Yeshua/Jesus plays a part in her appearance
Nice one ginkass, all power to helen. I went to see her in uk when she toured doing both songs and giving her testimony. She gave stan telchin credit for helping her in her new faith
@@johntate5722 Thank you , sir! Yes, I saw her testimony on You Tube and had tears in my eyes when she explained how the Lord delivered her from nicotine. After reading her autobiography, Walking Back to Happiness, and listening to various interviews she gave I was flabbergasted at how humble, kind and normal she seemed for someone that received many accolades when she was so young. I guess you can tell she has a fan on this side of the pond,
This is a truly unique and wondrous voice, so full-throated, melodic, rich, and vibrant. A great singer America should have been introduced to half a century ago in great number via the Ed Sullivan Show, Jack Paar, and other programs.
In my kindergarten youthfulness, Helen took my friends and me pleasurably off our feet with her energy, power, operatic soulfulness, unpretentious romanticism, tonal delivery and smooth presentation. Oh, how every a lad and lass would rush for a dancing partner! "...may I have this dance?" I shall be grateful to hear Lalah Hathaway's modern take on this song, and Barbara Lynn's "If You Lose Me" (oh yes, you lose a good thing) The melody with its lyrics and delivery of this standard classic, Queen For Tonight, is so powerfully magnetic and enticing that we all never focused on the underlined philosophical significance of the song. Today, after hearing, and singing this song (professionally) for a number of years, I now have gotten the message - the foreboding, the lover's apprehension, if you will. Someone has said it: "Will this be a one night affair?" "Will you shower me with all these verbal niceties in the future for everyone to hear and see?" What a philosophy in song! Bring back Yesterday when lyrics had had meanings and profound significance! Excellent, Helene! Thanks for letting me into your therapeutic musical world by posting such a well-sung romantic song.
I remember Helen's music as a small child in the 1960's. I think she has such an amazing voice. Amy Winehouse, forty yerars later, came along with another amazing vocal range. .
I just love her the song you don't no me ,brings me back to when I was 17teen so many memories now I am 76 years old the memories are so clear about this guy I so loved and he dident no

Nothing like the recording but very Helen, Ms Shapiro could do justice to live singing, absolutely brilliant performance, better, in fact, than her recording of this song. The mic is just out of camera shot above Helen's head.
Ze lijkt qua kleding ook op Anneke Gronloh, Willeke Alberti e.v.a. uit die tijd maar had wel unieke, Eigen Stemgeluid dat Powerfull dn Zelfbewust overkwam

Still have that original crush for Helen Shapiro from my early 60's, when I first saw this one and heard that voice!

if helen was singing today for the top ten, she would top amy, who i liked, but only cos she reminded me of helen's voice.

There are very few girls with a voice as low-pitched as Helen’s.
Helen Shapiro's dressing up like that reminds me of Willeke Alberti or Connie Francis.
The original Amy Winehouse...both great singers.
Both Jewish.
It’s notable for that time that she’s actually singing live here, and not lip-synching to her record.
Are you sure? The music certainly seems to have been pre-recorded.🤔😊
