    I hate it when people crap on 308. The Federal Premium 175gr Sierra Matchking is a fantastic cartridge and pairs well with the 1:8 twist of the MRAD.

    Great rifle sir. I got my MRAD, 300WM, not SMR, because the folding stock is a big plus to me. You mentioned stainless barrel in the video that I can not find any info on the barrel material, but only 300 WM 1-8 twist rate mark on the barrel.

    • @shaunstayfree5551
      @shaunstayfree5551  Рік тому +1

      Tough choice but folding stock and swappable barrels is the smarter decision. Good point. I believe when I purchased the description said stainless for my 308 barrel. Looking at Barrett’s website, they say stainless only on the 300 prc barrel that I can see. It’s worth a call for you because it’s something worth knowing. I have an email out to them on some other items, so when they respond I can ask them on mine, but for your caliber (and build date) you should contact them as well. They may have also changed barrel providers or materials etc from when I posted the video to what their website says now.

      @@shaunstayfree5551 many thanks sir. I don’t really mind the barrel is stainless or carbon steel. I don’t usually break in barrel, nor clean barrel every time. MRAD is mil spec, no way I can break it if use normally.

      @@Youngbobotube barrel life is more of consideration with 300wm than 308. You might want to know so you can plan accordingly. But when accuracy falls off, that is usually tell tale sign of end of barrel life. CM vs SS is a tradeoff between accuracy and life, at least in some ways, not always completely true. You may be curious to know also what the barrel is so when you go to rebarrel if you do, you have a benchmark.

    Nice video ;) I'm interested in this rifle as well..... Do you know if the MRAD SMR is able to change the barrel (re-barrel) even if not as easy as original MRAD? I'm asking this because i also don't have demand to multiple calibers, but the barrel would whatever need to be replaced after several thouthand rounds of shooting. I do research on web, but i didn't see any place selling prefit barrels for MRAD SMR instead of barrel conversion kit for original MRAD.

    • @shaunstayfree5551
      @shaunstayfree5551  Рік тому +1

      Negative on caliber change for SMR, but yes like any other rifle, you can replace a shot out/worn out barrel. Look at the parts diagram of the barret smr and you will see it uses a standard barrel nut. Also, you can contact barrett they will tell you as well. Thanks for watching

      @@shaunstayfree5551 Yeah.....i looked into that exploded view as well, but normally a bolt action like this kind has a removable handguard, after removing that handguard, the barrel nuts will be exposed for a removal. But MRAD SMR has an one-piece "upper", so i'm wordering how?

    Hi Shaun! This might be a first time request, but I was wondering if you could tell me - if the side profile left and right from the rail has a curve to it, or if its a straight angle? I am a 3D modeller and currently studying this weapon and it's really tough to judge if it has a slight curve to it or not. Cheers

    • @shaunstayfree5551
      @shaunstayfree5551  3 роки тому

      Uhh it’s hard for me to say from what you are asking. The top of the rail is flat. Then there is a triangle on the side of the rail. Otherwise all straight lines on the outside/exterior. But on the inside/interior it is circular, almost like a barrel shroud. Does that help?

    Whatever floats your boat as a buyer. No other opinions really matter once the decision is made. I can see paying Barrett money for the 50BMG or 416, but nothing else. Especially when there's the Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro, Accuracy International and Desert Tech for everything below 50 caliber. But again, whatever floats your boat.

    • @shaunstayfree5551
      @shaunstayfree5551  2 роки тому

      It’s solid logic, but personally I think Barrett is best in class for the company’s positions and pretty good products. For example DD sells CA law enforcement firearms CA civilians can’t possess, where as Barrett said no to the CA govt. I know I know, CA is a joke anyways and who really cares outside of CA. As far as caliber of course an mrad chassis is way overkill for 308. Looking back now that I reload I would have gone a different caliber. AI and desert tech you are right, both excellent manufacturers with great rifles and seriously worth considering over any MRAD. There are others as well with better value for similar accuracy.

      @@shaunstayfree5551 It's always a trade-off, a compromise when comparing all these guns. I've looked at all of them pretty carefully. For me, I prioritize accuracy and reliability over pretty much all other criteria, but, that LMT is just too heavy. It's certainly more accurate with the SS barrel option, but for a SHTF battle rifle, the REC10, at under 8lbs, has to be a strong consideration. I like he LWRCI A5 6.8mm as a very strong contender for that emergency, grab-n-go option, but I think I'd have to stay with the .308. They're all really nice. If I could, I'd own one of each, including the Knight's Armament SR25 and that HK MR762A1. Everyone's priorities are different though and with current prices, they're all investment grade quality.

      My FAL, M1A and HK91 would he enough. But… But… it never ends haha. The AR10 Choices have really shaken loose, especially with caliber options; which is why I like the LMT system. We’ll see, it gets very hard to justify more purchases in these price ranges. Good luck on your quest, time is always on the buyers side, except for firearms “when the legislature is in session”
