    I love that there was so much to talk about within such a small space. When someone shows you their house, usually it's brief and bland, except for the big stuff like a pool or whatever, but here every detail was made with love or salvaged with an eye for detail and authenticity. It's a really beautiful home. I love the slab of tree trunk over the "copper" sink. So cute! :)

      Gary Captain Phillips
      Hallo!
      So glad that you also watch such Vlogs, or whatever they're called☺
      They, and you, 'take me away' to the 'old times', many, many years ago, when I dreamt of 'living more freely'!
      Then went to Greece, (please remember, 38 years ago, to my 'dream island'!
      It didn't, unfortunately, work out, because then came an influx of tourists, looking for 'holiday romances', and all the Greek men, married or single, were 'on the hunt' for 'holiday romances😕
      I thought that I had found my 'paradise ', but the island of Zakynthos (Zante) is now renowned as a place to go for drunken Brits, etc😤
      I 'managed to escape ' with my sons (otherwise I would have had to give them up to the family, or accept the 'situation' with my husband😕😑😣)
      Coul write a book about the whole, unbelievable situation! 😑😕
      Sorry to 'open up' to you, but your videos (together with others) mean so much to me, and give me 'just a little insight' into an alternative world,that still exists😊
      Too late, and too little funds to 'take part', but, thanks so much for 'taking me away' into my once 'dream life', and showing the pros and cons 😀😊☺
      All love , and best wishes, Claire, Berlin, Germany 😊

      Sorry Love. It s not the USA. You have to have a permanent address when you are living in the UK. Somebody pays "your" council tax anyway. So when you decided to be a honest person tell us about all pros and cons. The best way to be debt free is have no debt at all. Godspeed.😊

I have to empty my own bins and I make my own power. Sadly you are trapped in the understanding I HAVE to live in a house when no one HAS to do anything. We always have choice. But i geass that the large amount of pallete wood (which has high density and thickness) adds a lot of unnecessary weight to the van, making it more top heavy and it will affect the gas mileage while not adding insulation.
      But it looks nice.

    • @No_bucking_idea
      @No_bucking_idea 6 років тому

      @@pteppig it was so light before and it's only a front face of palette wood so it isn't as much wood as it looks
      A large portion is MDF on the structure and karndean floor so it's well under weight and it isn't bad on fuel. My car is worse!

    this is awesome. I've seen countless different conversions some very high spec but this, this has a charm. Its not my style admittedly and there is a lot i would have differently, but what i've taken more than anything from this is that with the right motivation, and if you're prepared to do a little bit more work, once you've bought the van, you can convert it for virtually nothing when compared to a house using reclaimed salvage, and make it a ridiculously comfy looking home. If however you have the know how to take old wood, get the tools out and make it into something literally brand new (cupboards, kitchen worktops, bed...) then even using salvage you can create a high spec finish. I'm inspired, thanks :)

      My parents are army and there is nothing affluent about my upbringing
      I've met eccentric and I've met poor people all in vans. I live in a community of completely mixed people

    • @No_bucking_idea
      @No_bucking_idea 7 років тому +19

      Scout Dawson because your first comment can make people believe I am not genuine in my efforts to get into a better place in my life. And you speak as if you live in a van on the streets which I assume you don't. You read a few articles and assume we all have money and chose to live like this. Not sure where you are from in the world but in the U.K. This is a byproduct of a housing crisis not rich people being tight.

    I like so much about this video I don't know where to start! I love that even though she's living in a van she didn't give up who she was or lose her unique sense of style. Instead, she found ways to incorporate her tastes into van life. It's so cool how she said that being on a tight budget helped her be more creative and take a different approach to how she decorated. The overall look and feel inside the van is absolutely fantastic. Not only does it look great but I love how she repurposed so many items. I'm in love with that ceiling. Those red and blue ones are heavy duty and are heavy so we only used them on the ceiling the walls wood is super light ... and I guess we aren't moving around much for winter and the key word here is free or as near to free doing the conversion. One of the most aesthetically pleasing tiny home spaces i've seen, the rough-edged approach really works well, and the production and colouring on this video too is superb! really enjoyed it :)

    Superb Van!!!!! So nice to see someone doing it cheap and incredible. Literally thousands of ideas in this build for people starting out.
    I see lots of “doing it cheap” van builds from people who clearly have nice houses and second cars.
    This is real. This video was great. And I LOVE the van.
    Would be nice to know how often you have to fix the van. If ever?

    Thanks Sammi for such a great video and I hope that by now you have paid off your debts. I thought my wife and I had done well in boarding carpeting and fitting a bed into our old VWT5 to use of a weekend but that is nothing in comparison to yours. I really hope others that are in the same situation as you find this as it could be the answer as well.

    omg, what you have done to this van is so beautful!!
    You have made it a lovely home with warmth and homelyness. The different surfaces, tones all make it wonderful. God it shows how sterile and bla normality is.
    Im sure youll love being in such a space and something you did youself, every surface has a story.
    How Could you ever leave!
