Shin Okazaki is a fan favorite character in the nana manga and anime. His really cool outfits and jewelry that many have tried to replicate, to his unique and lovable personality. His connected lip and ear piercing and vivienne westwood lighter chain are one of the most iconic things in the series which has led many to want to buy the real thing. Shin is many peoples favorite character for many reasons. Shins actions makes the reader ask many questions about him as a character and his backstory. We feel bad for someone that had to mature so fast because of the childhood he had and how that has affected him as he got older. What he has to go through and must do just to make it in the world and deal with his past.

one of the reasons I think why Hachi didnt step up more to help out Shin is the fact that she was also groomed as a kid, she does feel in a way that him being a prostitute is wrong and especially being with older women, but we can see her still feel sympathy and want to support him when he says he loves Reira . I think her being groomed as a kid definitely changed her perspective on grooming and not seeing as an actual issue and especially considering how shes in an abusive relationship again, her view of romance is very flawed. over all she still loved Shin and still supported him but she definitely couldnt have helped him get out of being groomed on her own due to her own trauma and her normalizing it for herself

It's insane how complex Nana characters are. It's like the manga-ka herself is a psychologist or something. Every character can be thoroughly analyzed.
I think it’s more that the manga is her therapy.
shin is definitely my favorite character in nana! i wish that nana osaki would’ve had a little more sympathy for him and they could’ve been better band mates especially since her boyfriend was shin’s idol and someone who he looked up to :(

But the core problem would be morals, not because he's "too young", but because Japan tends to be quite sexist when a woman is older than a man in a relationship

I guess the author making him 15 and doing all that stuff is very very realistic. All characters are real for me as I've meet people like them in real life. Shin drinking, smoking and sleeping with older girls are pretty common, especially now since times are more open with all the media and internet. Though morally it's questionable for sure. However, people like Shin don't do it if they don't have bad family relationships. Most likely why he's into prostitution in the first place. Also, people with issues attracts. That's how I see Shin and Reira's relationship. Sad but these people exist and they're closer to you than you think.

The detail in this is really good!! I think shin is one of the most complex characters on the show. I’m really glad that by the time jump in the future he’s managed to sort things out and debut as an actor. I hadn’t thought much about the promise he made to Nana about surpassing Ren being significant to his character up until you brought this up in the video,, but do you think in the future chapters he still plans on making this true, or has he abandoned those aspirations now both Nana and Ren are gone??

Shin is my favorite character, I was interested in VW as I saw his lighter necklace. It’s the one item in life I really want.
I love Shin because he’s just a little guy but he makes me so sad. But I know it’s bad but him and Reira have good chemistry only because they sync so well with their personalities when they first meet.
this explanation actually made me love shin, i never really understood him until this video
my theory is that juunichuro is his real name. In one of the episodes, yasu tells him that he knows about his real identity and his fake name. Later Reira also confides in him and tells him hurt real name. Putting the two y together, Shin must’ve told Reira about his real name as well and that’s why Reira reacts so intensely to his message
Juunichiro was a character in the book shin was reading + the movie that Yuri was gonna star in
I've only seen the anime, so far, but I love Shin so much. :) He's adorable and his friendship with Hachi is the sweetest thing. ❤️

I’m not at all trying to be rude but if you label this analysis, you should do more analysis. More than half the video is summary, and considering mainly only fans would care about this topic we don’t need the whole biography summarized. Speculate more on specific character moments you found interesting. Ex: speak more on both Nanas’ treatment of Shin. Speak more on his poor home life, on the fact that he moves into the same complex with his family in later chapters, and him falling for someone that looks like his pimp.
