Thank you for watching this LONG VIDEO. Its hard to even get people to watch a 60 second promo these days. So I am thankful for you if you've watched the whole thing already. Comment down below what YOUR JUMP will be for the rest of the year or 2019. It doesn't always have to mean quitting your job. What do you want to accomplish?
Alright in response to this. Imma say this. My 1 year goal from October 2018 to October 2019 is to make 25 short films and short docs. I've already posted my first one and am in production of my upcoming second.
hey Edward loved this video!! I've been struggling to balance between my job and my passion for creating. I've been applying to film programs hoping I can get more experience and meet people with the same interests...but it's going to be expensive... I'm just hoping in 2019 I can finally make a video that I'm proud of. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Ilysm Edward. You are going to kill it. Honestly you are one of the most creative hard working people out there. I have no doubt you will take UA-cam by the balls.
Wow, as someone who has a passion for being a creative since I was 13, but has had a crazy lost time with what to do in life as a career. That's why I am glad I found this video! I can't wait and see what the futue brings for you. Super excited for new content!! #newsubscriber
Hi Edward. Congrats. Great story. I am over 60yrs old and wish I had your courage and spirit at your age. I had an epiphany recently when a good friend of mine similar age to me died of a heart attack...long story short, the next 30-40 years (should I be so lucky) will be me exploring stuff that inspires and interests me!
Edward to be perfectly honest I had no idea who you were an hour ago. Michael Clark led me to your videos via his ig story. You have not only gained a subscriber but you have also made an impact on me with just this video. I would love to meet you one day. You are doing something that most only dream of doing. I can't wait to see how far you go with this. Congrats on going full time bro
Thanks Jax. Really appreciate you taking time out of your day to leave this comment. I definitely have a long ways to go but its never too late to start. FULL SEND.
not gonna lie I wanna move forward with my dreams I feel so stuck in my day job at a call center I want to be out moving and exploring. My content isn't nearly as good as yours but id love for it to be if I could just get the courage to walk away from my 9-5 I know I would be happier.
I had saved up some runway/money that equaled about 6 months of my monthly expenses. That way, I would have 6 months to figure out how to make more money as a freelancer. I highly recommend doing this because if you just quit without money saved up, you'll be stressed and anxious!
Man... I want to say so much but I will say it later. This was a WHAT THE FUCK experience. You have given me a glimpse into what I am working towards. Which is freelancing in videography, becoming a UA-cam content creator, owning my own film production company. And eventually making a full length documentary.
Havent really experienced much of what you have, but I definitely connected with this video - with all the creative blocks, even to the frustrations of not knowing how bigger creatives got to where they're at... Looking forward to more of your content!
Thanks for following me on instagram! Just followed you back and subscribed here. If you ever need any help with audio hit me up. Great job on the video! It’s definitely scary quitting a job at first but definitely always works out. Keep at it and I look forward to following your journey!
I saw your video after typing in "pursuing passion" because I felt like I had hit rock bottom. I'm actually from Seattle too and did the Running Start program at Highline College (I use to study on the second floor a lot too). I can relate to you on such a deep level and I can't imagine the uncertainty you must've felt at the time. When I chose to go to UW after my AA, I thought I wanted to go into the medical field too or tech field, I found out the hard way that it simply wasn't for me. Getting into any major here is so competitive I don't even know why I'm still here wasting time and money. I'm in a major that makes no sense to me and I don't even see it paying off. I have two more quarters here, and I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do with my life. I admire your decision to not rush into college like everyone else did. All I think about now is getting better at dancing so I can create stories through film (like you do). If you're ever down, It'd be really cool to sit down and talk with you someday since we both live in Washington
Hey Travis, thanks for the comment. I really appreciate you taking the time to type this out and share your story. I am super slammed at the moment but would love to meetup sometime over coffee in the next month or so. What is your instagram handle? In the meantime, I would say tough it out with school. 2 quarters left in my mind means, 2 quarters left to pursue your passion on the side so it can take off. In the next couple months, try not to think about dropping one or doing the other. Try and do film and dance on the side and continue to grow. View it as a hobby not a burden. I promise if you stay consistent, you'll be surprised what you can accomplish on the side while going to school for the remaining 2 quarters
Edward Lee Hey man thanks for replying, you are totally right about seeing these last two quarters as an opportunity! My ig is travisvo and I’ll be sure to keep in touch!
At the end of the video when you talk about how there are the people that say chase your dreams. I can relate to the frustration, so I'm glad your explaining this issue that I have seen around on UA-cam.
Wow! This is totally what I am feeling right now as well ! Congratulations for following your passion! As long as you listen to your heart, you can’t fail. Mad props to you, bro!
Yo!!! Congratulations brotha! So happy for you! This video brings me so much excitement and hope for what the future holds. I'm glad I was able to meet you earlier this year and be a small part of this amazing journey of yours. Honored to play a small cameo in your film too ;P Until our paths cross again, I wish you the best!
I can REALLY relate to you! Also, congrats on taking the big step! I'm in similar situation like you! I grew up in Seattle and was in customer service /sales for while until about 5 yrs ago I moved to LA to study Motion Graphics. its a scary at first but it was SO worth it so that I won't regret later not trying.. now I work as freelance artist in Motion Graphics but in my spare time, I recently started separate IG for my photos and this youtube channel for my video contents. Best of luck to you and hope I get to collab with you one day!
Hey man! amazing videos! and at the moment I'm at the phase of being depressed without getting paid in photography but as we speak right now im slowly getting into videography. I might have a lot of gear but literally getting 0 money. But I'm still continuing grinding while I still have a day job. You've inspired me man, thanks!!!
Its a slow grind and its really about sticking with it. If I could offer any advice it would be to really focus on the business side of your skills! Checkout a UA-cam channel called Futur and a guy called Chris Do. I learned a lot from him and all his free resources.
This is amazing Ed, wow! I've watched a lot of these videos and you are exactly right when you say they show a ton of cinematic video and then say go chase your dreams but in reality there's years of experience, failures, learning, etc. that goes into it. Stoked to be a new subscriber and following along on your journey now. Wishing you nothing but the best!
Thank you so, so much for pouring your heart into a video that so many of us from different age groups/social backgrounds can relate to. I'm a 29 year old man child that is on the brink of wondering what that next step will be in my professional career, and it's such a relief knowing you found that itch that inspires you - that has also inspired me to grow from within and take that next and/or leap of faith towards my future passions. I think we all have a lot to learn from someone who's not afraid to take risks and pursue the things they love the most. Thought I would spread some positive energy in a world that needs it more than ever. God bless Edward . . . I'm so happy for you brother!!
Wow this is such an awesome comment. Thank you for watching! Wishing you all the best in your new endeavor. You are 29 years young and when you put into perspective how much you can accomplish in just one year, you have nothing but time on your side!
Ahhh very emotional! I literally feel like I'm stuck in a hole rn and am not getting anywhere with my photography. Thank you so much for sharing your story!!
Oh my gosh, Edward Lee, you touched me with your story. My oldest son went through a few of those types of thngs, and he is a creative. I appreciated this deep story. Also I loved how you assessed the things that you gained and learned from each of your jobs and experiences, and you put a word to it. That is such a great way to show gratitude for the experience, and to build upon that for where you are right now. This was very inspirational. I noticed that this was October 15, 2018 when you quit the job, and how wonderful your boss Kyle was and how supportive. I loved how he told you something he learned years ago from his State Farm Insurance friend, to focus and do it, ten look up 5 years later. That is an example of a MidConvo moment, I think. I just found your channel today, and subscribed after watching several of your videos about the office set up, and now I look forward to seeing more of where you are now in 2022. Thank you for sharing some of your journey with your audience. I enjoyed it so much. I am going to share this with my sons.
This is the most inspiring video I’ve seen in a long time…teared up watching it cause this is exactly me rn. Put a break on college, feel stuck, trying to see what I can do 😭
Greetings! I am at the beginning stages of quitting my job and documenting it on my channel. Trying to build up to it. Wish me luck and love the videos.
Bro, ever since I saw your stuff while you were with rhino I always thought damn that dude needs to make a UA-cam channel. Content you made with them was next level as well as this super inspiring video my man. I’m trying to gain the courage to make my channel and this has put some fire in me. Thank you for following your passion and putting this out there 👊🏼
Same here man self taught within videography/photography I feel as though when you do this you find your style and the things you like rather than being showed the "greats" early on and sort of brainwashed thinking this is how something should or shouldn't be ya know. Nice to see your living out your passion. Great work by the way we follow each other on IG.
it's crazy how I just found your channel today. And its such an inspiring story. I feel like I'm in the same position right now where you were 2 years ago, where I wanna quit my job and pursue this "Creative Itch" that I've had for such a long time since I didn't wanna pursue dentistry. Very encouraging video man. Please check out my content if you can and would love the feedbacks! Just started making content this past year and hopefully it would lead it to doing it full time. instagram.com/melocokr

Hi Edward. Congrats. Great story. I am over 60yrs old and wish I had your courage and spirit at your age. I had an epiphany recently when a good friend of mine similar age to me died of a heart attack...long story short, the next 30-40 years (should I be so lucky) will be me exploring stuff that inspires and interests me!

Very inspiring bro. Same dreams here.
Edventures ?!! That’s low key epic and hilarious 😆
great video my brother.
Quick question, when you quit your dream job, how did you pay your bills?
I had saved up some runway/money that equaled about 6 months of my monthly expenses. That way, I would have 6 months to figure out how to make more money as a freelancer. I highly recommend doing this because if you just quit without money saved up, you'll be stressed and anxious!

@@edwardleefilms also been loving your MidConvo podcast. Learning lots from you! Thank you for creating and giving value to people.
Very inspirational
I absolutely love this story. It's so beautiful hearing the backstory of everyone pursuing their dreams and taking risks!!
Yes!! Thanks for watching! Im glad you enjoyed it
For a beginner what camera do you recommend?
For photo/video, I would recommend the Canon EOS R. For video only, id recommend the BMPCC 4K

This is the most drama free - most realistic/genuine journey of someone I have seen on UA-cam so far. You have a new fan btw :)
I know its an old one but congrats senior
