The Nelson Curse - Wrenches Wackies

- The HMS Nelson.... What a cursed design, but here it is. Don't ask me why I made this, because I don't know. Unironically pretty good for it's cost, and didn't turn out all too bad. So you too now can be cursed with the Nelson. Take it, use it, blow it up, idc. Have fun chucklef*cks.

if you are going for goofy Historic ships, the French Pre-Dreadnought Hoche is incredibly cursed
-Ise Class (Hybrid config)
-N3 Class or G3 Class
-Hiraga Class/Concept of Battleships but with a bigger pagoda (or just the regular one because thats huge)
-A bigger more "unreasonable" version of a Tillman class "Maximum Battleship"
-The early design idea for the North Carolina class where all the turrets were superfiring in the front
-The North Carolina design with the originally planned layout of 12x 14 inch guns
i would really like to see more cursed designs, that by far is the most interesting. great ship dude!
A good ship that might be a bit of a challenge would be the USS Kearsarge class of Pre-Dreadnought Battleships. The ones with the stacked turrets; they had their 8” intermediate battery mounted above the main 12” guns in the same turret.
You have every right to be proud of this weird but awesome battleship.
Any of the Tillman 'Maximum' battleships. Never built, but they do have drafts. You got the Tillman I, II, III, IV, IV-I, IV-II. The first draft had all the armor, think Yamato battleship levels. The Second had all the guns, 6 barrels in one turret, 4 turrets. The third draft dropped armor and the guns for speed. And the forth, first draft had the armor of the first and the guns of the second drafts. The IV-I and IV-II replaced the 16 inch guns with 18 inch guns. IV-I had 13 guns and the IV-II had 15.
You wanna know something funny? I actually started a while back a Tillman design, and I had designed a six barrel 500 mm turret. And the ship had five of them and I stagger them to be a very quick ripple effect. It is terrifying to see what it does to ships.
I had an idea for something i decided to not make in ftd but you could make it if you want and it’s a Panserskip (Norwegian name for a Coastal defense cruiser) with just battleship size main armaments and secondary weapons. i was planning to use that idea for a ship that’s slow but can do a lot of damage, a good example would be the Tordenskjold class but the main guns replaced with a 2 or 3 barreled main battery
Would love to see more cursed ships aka the best ships. (“Wrenches Wackies” would be a great name for the cursed ship series)
That would be a good series name, I like that!
Majestic and cursed, but if it works it works.
Love your style, I'd also be interested in "let's build" or timelapses of the bigger builds. I'd love to see some realistic and/or modern gunship, I tried re-making an A-10 but it was underwhelming at strafing targets
One of my favorite ships, and you've done her proud!
This looks great
Half battleship, half aircraft carrier Iowa class abomination
As far as wacky ships that were actually built; I think Tone-class cruisers are fairly unique. You got all four turrets forward, aviation facility at the back for 6 floatplanes, and still had like 4x3 torpedo launchers. Although I guess you can make the aft aviation facility a flat deck for carrier style aircrafts instead of floatplanes kind of like the remodeled Ise-class for extra bit of wackiness.
You could try the Richelieu or dunkerque class battleships, or even the really weird Gangut class.
For paper ships there's also the g3 class battlecruiser which was designed at the same time as the Nelsons.
Other weird designs include the Krasny Kavkaz, the soviet cruiser with only 4 oversized (7.1 inch) guns and the original pre 1935 versions of Akagi and Kaga with two flight decks and forward cruiser guns.
If you say it’s cursed…
Look up the British battleship project N3
Oh trust me, I know it 😂
Maybe some pre-dreadnoughts? They were pretty funky with their hull shapes and turret places.
How about Admiral Kaneda's proposed battleship design?
It was designed as a gigantic hunk of steel armed with gazillion (From what i've found and read, a total of 100 406mm guns in twin turret config (50×2) ) of large caliber guns.
Would be interesting to see you make it unreasonably fast for its size lol.
I just looked it up…. Jesus fucking Christ…. The daka. So. Much. Daka. It *might* be an idea. I would see it as a challenge to keep it under 2 million resources, and I kinda wanna try.
That thing has so much firepower that one volley from it is the equivalent of chucking an entire car dealership in one go.
The N3 or the G3 Battleships would be interesting to build as they have the same design principles as Nelson, but scaled up to 49,000-54,000 tons with the G3 being a fast battleship with good armor. While the N3 is a slow floating brick of armor, using 9x 18 inch guns in the main battery (that is more protected then Yamato). The M-Class submarine would be a great ship to build as well as its armed with a 12 inch gun along with the normal torpedoes.
Hmmm, I just looked at what the G3 looks like.... Very good possibility that it will be next....
If you want more volume for your secondary guns without thinning down the armour you could take a look at the CIWS from the Steel Striders Victoria
How about the russian circular battleship. (forgot what it was called.)
i have ship designs that are mixed with modern and WW2 designs of ships. I'm currently working on a light cruiser that has a superstructure and defense of Arleigh Burke destroyers and a hull of a Japanese cruiser and the main gun design of the Atlanta-class
what would maybe be a goog suggestion would be the german Hindenburg cruiser since it may be a funand rather easyer ship to re make cuae not alot of good cruiser are mostly just meat shields and if that dosent sound like a fun idea but you could try to build the HMS Warspite or the HMS repulse eihter are verry nice ships to play with in a good setting world in FTD
You could try IJN Amagi, the turret layout is similar to Nelson
You mean Izumo?
@@KawaiiFlandre495 Damn nvm thats even closer to Nelson.
WHY IN THE FUCK DO IT LOOK THAT GOOFY
US torpedo battleship it is very cursed
Sorry forgot to say please also love you videos
isnt this hms rodney
Correct, Rodney was a Nelson class warship
