Here’s a guide on how to build emotional safety in relationships. Emotional safety in relationships is absolutely crucial. In fact, emotional safety in marriage is probably the #1 ingredient you need for a successful relationship.
So this video will give you some emotional safety definitions and emotional safety meaning to help you understand what it is.
Emotional safety is the feeling of trusting your partner with your emotional well-being. It means that you believe your partner cares about your own emotional experience and vice versa.
One of the biggest hurdles that couples struggle to overcome in establishing emotional safety is that sometimes our partner’s pain is a result of something we have or haven’t done. Hearing your partner share their complaints and frustrations about you is difficult because we don’t want to disappoint our partners or feel like we fall short in some way as a partner. As a result, we might become defensive, and rather than fully listening to our partner share, we respond by vocalizing our own complaints. Here are some guidelines to be aware of to help you and your partner create more emotional safety in your relationship:
Whoever expresses their emotions first (whether through words or body language) gets to share their feelings completely first
Even if your partner is sharing complaints about something you have or haven’t done, try to remain focused on what they are sharing and not on preparing a response or retort to what he or she has shared.
Emotional safety is developed when the partner shares their feelings and talks gently, and when the listening partner focuses on what their partner is sharing and responds with warmth and caring. As you build emotional safety, you will feel increasingly comfortable communicating problems you are experiencing in your relationship. Karla Reimer, MA specializes in the areas of grief, couples work, addictions, and emotional regulation as well as many others.

This is so true. As a female, I concur that emotional safety is absolutely foundational and if that’s established we will communicate again……this video is 100% accurate 🙌🏻

What if the woman is just a narcissist who cuts off communication because she is sulking because she can't get what she wants. I have personal experience with this and yet no, It's us men who are at fault.

This Sunday will be 2 weeks since my wife asked me to move out. I have been watching your videos every day and it has helped understand what she is going through. She had been stonewalling me with very minimal texting between us. I used your advice from this video and they're had been breakthrough. She did say that altho she is not ready to work on our marriage she will live life right now as a married woman. We are both believers and recovering addicts. It's been a struggle but hope is keeping me going.

What if I as the man don’t feel emotional secure with the wife?

This channel is for men trying to win their wife back. This is not a relevant question in that context unfortunately.

Exactly. It's always the man's fault. This channel is pure sexism and should be illegal.

I'm a woman feeling exhausted.. I don't know even how to tell my bf how I'm feeling and why I disrespect him and throw accusations why I'm insecure etc. He doesn't support me. Am I wrong to expect financial emotional support? To feel he's got my back if I need it? I've come across lots of videos that woman needs to feel he invests in her to feel safe and I feel so alone with my problems. I don't know what to do..I have never been in a relationship that I'd not be prioritised in that sense where the natural investment and progress of the relationship has taken place. I've been with him 4 years on /off and I really fear to tell him that I don't feel like I'm priority or chosen or safe..

You’re forgetting about the type of person who doesn’t want to communicate not because she doesn’t feel safe, but because that is her personality. Typical of an ISTJ. You can’t make this assumption about everyone;)

Why do you expect financial support? This it the post feminist age. We are all equal. You are just as capable of financially supporting yourself.

Damn you’re saying the exact same thing in other ways for 7 minutes. Not talking about solutions. Moreover, it’s not always the fault of the man. Getting sick of these one sided sell pitches

It's always the man's fault with these types of videos. It's always what us men are doing wrong and how women are the poor innocent victim who's trying to save things and we are hostile to them and we need to change. My gf f'in cheated on my with a lesbian from work and somehow that's MY FAULT! Sexual discrimination is illegal and this channel should be reported and shut down.

Ok, she’s leaving you because you doing everything right and meeting all her needs? She’s leaving you because you are a bad option for her and she would rather be alone than be with you. Blame her for that if you want to and see what you get. This video is for men whose wives want out, and you want to change that. It’s not couple’s counselling. Telling a woman who’s walking out that she’s the problem is pure stupidity.

@@BetterMarriageByCodyButler damn you’re a savage. Are you really that onesided? Of course a guy can change certain behavior and work on certain traits. But only to a extent. Women however do need to work on the relationship as well. A relationship is always two sided, they both need to work on it and themselves.

Why is it always the man's fault? This video is like every other one on YT. It assumes the man is doing everything wrong and the woman is the poor innocent victim trying to save the marriage and its us men who are not letting them. Women are just as capable at stuffing things up. What if she is the one doing things wrong and the us men are trying to tell her what the problems in the relationship are and she meets it with hostility, defensiveness or not taking it on board?
