As an ex crim from South Australia (been out 10+yrs) I can say that the prisons are very similar to this. Australia put a lot into rehabilitation & that's how it should be. Your still locked away with your freedom taken from you. No matter what, people are either going to change or they won't The US have high rates of inmate's getting out & going back due to the way the system is set up. You get out & have little chance of getting a job or finding somewhere to live so what are people going to do to survive. Go back to what they were doing before, committing crimes. At least in Australia we have programs for ex offenders & parolees leaving prison. If you want a second chance you need to stay straight & the system should be there to assist & support. If you don't look after the community, it falls apart. Thank goodness I'm an Aussie. No offence
What in the hell are you talking about? This is the reason why they are there because these women committed crimes and that's why they got life in prison. Why. Because they need to be punished what they did. And they should not be released in prison because if they do they will kill again. That's why these criminals are staying in there for the rest of there lifes
Prison is meant to be about losing your freedom, not being dehumanised where you are actually worse when you get out I'd rather have someone rehabilitated living next door not someone who has been dehumanised.
It basically looks like a mental health facility. Can't say I'm impressed, I don't think criminals deserve this good treatment. Yes I believe rehabilitation should be focused on, but they shouldn't have access to entertainment or activities other than work and therapy.
Dame I was just watching videos from this lady talking about her experience in women's prison in America and wow if this is accurate then we got it pretty good here
Listen, big credit to the lady on the left at the end there. “Theyve committed potential crimes” without taking one or the other and admitting she has never been inside a prison. Karen haircut gigachad thoughts though. She seems lovely
The Uk govenment should get the idea building Australia prisons in the uk it will be much much better top high class security for females and men. It would be a great idea.
Reality prisoners when reintegrating into society. It’s true that many individuals struggle to find employment and receive support after their release. Efforts to improve the reintegration process and provide resources for employment, housing, and mental health services are ongoing in various places
I hope they realize how lucky they are being treated like its a friggin holiday lol. cabin with a mate type deal. im sure it was nice and polished for the cameras but seriously that just isnt jail lol
It's horrible in prison these females claim we miss our kids, the kids we didn't even think about when breaking the law and blaming any male they have access to for the reason of greed😮
James rotunno At the same time we should treat people humane. I’d think you’d want some to come out better then they went in. Also regardless of how nice a prison may look you are still in prison you are still losing you liberty.
Girlfriend needs to go to America and check out their prisons. She'd be stunned. There's Bedford Hills in upstate new york where rap stars da brat, foxy brown and even lauryn hill of the fugees for income tax evasion. Ohio Reformatory For Women (orfw), and in the west coast there's Chowchilla where former charles manson member patricia krenwinkle did 53 years in prison and got released. Also there's camp summit shock a boot camp type prison. I love this reporter, at ORFW has a convenience type store and if you are a prisoner and you buy from another inmate and not pay on time, you get "beat". They also have gangs as well.
I really want to be In that prison for probably few weeks (less than a month or so coz if longer I probably be dead lol) just to experience how their life inside there and also to have personal chat with those prisoners, what brings them to the prison and stuff.. anyone know how is the maximum punishment in the jail for stealing a candy at Woolworths? Lol
Well with the Victorian government and the police turning this place into a communist hell hole you can get put in jail just for speaking out in public about the government so you can try that if you want to see what jail is like.
@Belinda Thomas the implication was there. I'd like to see true gender equality, where convicted female offenders receive and serve the same amount of time as male offenders for the same crimes. E.g. 526 days for murdering a child. Imagine what a man would receive? Bring on the equality!!!
@@mapd6831 As of June 2020, there were 3,246 people in Australian prisons for homicide & related offences (manslaughter and so on), according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Not all criminals need to be tortured and completely deprived. Some of these people will be released one day, and they need to be able to work and live a functional, happy, safe and crime free life.
Science has shown that punishment has not worked to reduce crime. Prisons are in fact universities for crime. Psychopaths don't learn from punishment anyway, so by all means lock them away but don't regard it as punishment. As for the others, particularly those who have been abused, restorative justice is what is needed, that is, a recognition of their circumstances and doing what it takes to change the system so they don't get abused in the first place.

Love the reform of the prison system to cater more towards rehabilitation. Really proud of Austalia on this one.
Why is it nicer than my school?
We need something like this in the states.
That place is pristine compared to any American prison.

Because they are used headphones,Qantas has a contract and pays them $1 a day to clean them
That's done for Quantas. They pay the jail $5.90 per bag the girls get 45cents

And do you not think crooks should be punished?

If they must be in their cell at 3:30, they don’t get many work hours.
Prisons are going way over top and the numbers are so high. The Australian Government should build more prisons to increase overcrowding in jails.
Jail politicians & their govt workers, close womens & childrens prisons.
Or make them so people don't want to come back
Or let them kill each other on purge night
