The Dutch version of his nervous act is soo much better. In that version he goes on and he says with his trembling voice that he's not all there because he's a bit distracted because his dog had just died. Because he threw it out of the window. And that he's really regretting it because now there's a huge draught in his house.
doesn't work nearly as well in english, a lot of what he does is good because it's so masterfully dutch. this is like a weakly boiled down version of the original jokes. a lot of the musicality and energy gets lost cause of the accent as well. the expressions are still good but he's not at his best cause the audience isn't reciprocating like they would in the netherlands
I see I have stumbled upon something new, and simultaneously, something old.....this one gives me a feeling....a presence I've not felt since..........1984..
i concur, even though i'm dutch and can understand all his work, his absurdism seems to hit off pretty well with the brits, Dutch humour isn't that much different from british, it's less stiff upper lip, but it's filled with sarcasm and absurdism, hyperbolic comparisons and awkward tangents that make people wonder whether they have to think through to see the joke or it's just superfluous shit, but somehow just funny... it messes with your expectations, it's mostly completely absurd, but sometimes it makes sense for a second, just to throw you off lol i just like to see their crowd enjoy it across the small pond too i've seen him in interviews... this guy can be so insanely on-point and coherent if he wants to, well-spoken and his logical deduction is ace this guy is without a doubt highly intelligent, and he knows damn well what he's doing :D there's a thin line between being fucking nuts and being a genius, this guy is one of those prime examples of toeing the line on the very border between them. also he can pull some fucking crazy faces on top of all that too lol his english act could still use a bit of work, but even in the netherlands, there are people that prefer his English material for some reason, it's the same but quite different.
People need to watch a LOT of comedy before you watch Hans Teeuwen. You can't appreciate the absurdity of his act until you've seen a hundred stand up comics attempt what he's doing but they always back off.
Bullshit, Hans is one of the first comedians I’ve ever seen, and I laughed my ass off at this bit. It’s just a certain type of comedy that doesn’t appeal to everyone

You need to understand his humor. On the other hand, his performances have gone in decline. In his early years it used to be more straight-up laughs and less 'it's not for everyone' jokes.
Philipos6 I have only seen all of his shows and know alot of his quotes. further more I also have seen him in some talk shows. But other than that, yeah sure I obviously don't know his humor.
I can understand what his performance is about but unfortunately I dont like his style. Im pretty sure many would like this type of comedy. No disrespect. I want to laugh, not to get mind fucked or become more intelligent

Not to mention he had to throw it at least 5 times because of the double glass window
Yeah that was the funniest part, too bad he left it out :(

So this is the clip that inspired the stand-up scene from the movie ' Joker '
If you've seen a bit more of him.. the greasy hair, the outfits, the mannerisms. I find it hard to believe it's a coincidence.
Has to be inspiration of ISIP "Sweet Dee's open mic routine" (the dry heaves)
To think I got from an episode of "Green Room" Bo Burnham mentioned...
Has to be. I called it in the movie but thought it was too obscure to be true.
@@cvg101 Hans Teeuwen did this in Dutch in 1994.
Hans is a master of the craft. More people should know him
He's washed
What makes me nervous is that I get the feeling the audience actually believes his act :P
Lol, yes. A bit like Burat in Texas... (was it Texas?)
Iris Kuiters as real as it feels !
He is one of my favorite Comedians!

To all the English viewers: this guy is also a jazz musician. That might clear things up.
What a man.
faaantaaaastic!
He lost the audience a bit during the fireman story, but got them back in the end. Opening was really strong though.
HAHA the "two kinds of movies" bit was very good
