The Helios® orthosis is a custom energy storing carbon fiber leg brace. The Helios® Excel is designed to correct skeletal structural deformities. This unique energy loading design offers the potential of normal walking. Because of its energy return in walking, it results in the user feeling less fatigue. Among the possible applications are the bracing for physical limitations resulting from Peroneal Neuropathy, CMT, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Polio, and many other neurological diseases.
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is one of the most common inherited neurological disorders, affecting approximately 1 in 2,500 people in the United States. The disease is named for the three physicians who first identified it in 1886 - Jean-Martin Charcot and Pierre Marie in Paris, France, and Howard Henry Tooth in Cambridge, England. CMT, also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy (HMSN) or peroneal muscular atrophy, comprises a group of disorders that affect peripheral nerves. The peripheral nerves lie outside the brain and spinal cord and supply the muscles and sensory organs in the limbs. Disorders that affect the peripheral nerves are called peripheral neuropathies.

I got my braces 2 weeks ago and they are great! Her comments are exactly how I feel too. It was so neat watching someone experiencing the exact same thing I experienced. I love them!
You are right most people can't understand... I understand 100% ... I too am afflicted with this disease..
Let me give a statement on this. I have nerve impairment to my left leg and bad stenosis in my neck. I have been having multiple falls. I had a rigid ago for my left foot I rarely used like an idiot. Not only did my orthopedist and neurologist insist I wear my left brace, they had an identical one make for the right. Instantly my balance improved. No more knee buckle on stairs. It may be a little difficult to get comfortable wearing. Within a day no one could tell I wore them except on stairs. I found going up sideways was the best up and down
Does Medicare cover these?

لا يوجد علاج فقط العلاج الفيزيائي والمساند
فيتامين E ياخذ على مدار العمر للحد من المرض الجيني اما هذة المساند تنفع للحالات الاوليه
وكل حاله لها قالب خاص بها لذلك يستطيع مختص الاطراف الاصطناعيه ان يجهز لكم نموذج حسب قياس وقالب الاقدام او الايادي
تكلفة هذه النماذج مرتفعه جدا وذو جهاز الضغط الهوائي مرتفع

Confirming that you need a brace for both legs even though one leg is affected?
Not at all. If one leg is affected then you only need one brace.
