Just discovered this series of videos. They are terrific. I’m an above knee right leg amputee just learning to use my first c leg. I have a tremendous Prosthetics team supporting me but their time is limited and these videos allow me to do a lot of “self-help” at home. Balance is a particular issue for me and these exercises will surely help. Thank you.
Im an Ampute on both legs one with and one without a knee And these Videos have helped me so much escpacially this Video! Best Training and physio therapist wish more Peapel with Amputations would See this
I'm a physical therapist who has always had a passion for working with amputation patients. Unfortunately, we don't get nearly enough training on it in physical therapy school. You're videos are so helpful!
I got my prosthetics 5 days back. The video of Dynamic walking and control is really informative. Just tried walking sideways holding the counter for support. I will try this for three days before trying this step without support. Thanks
Thank you! I am a recent amputee, LAKA since January 14th. I just got my prosthetic leg and am eager to learn to walk on my own! I know it will take time but this video is so inspirational!
Wish I had training like these videos back when I got my leg. I was 18 & started out with a wooden leg with a rod for my knee. I picked up the leg & never got any training. I'm 79 now & still walking but not as much as I did a couple of years ago.
Thanks for posting these videos. Very informative. Helps me a lot on how I can walk better. I'm also an above knee but with a 3R80 knee. I'm starting to learn walking without using a cane.
I am a BKA for 9 months an struggling with balance and just experienced a fall. This video is very helpful for me. I am going to start these exercises. :)
Hello, Hope you are doing good!! May I know what the purpose of walking like this? Balance control is fine but when? I am an above knee amputee with short stump as I had met with an accident. I am unable to do dynamic walking. I am able to walk but it is not a straight walk.i am taking my whole body to my left and right side while taking each step. Could you please suggest me on this? Thanks in advance!!
Thanks for the suggestion! We don't currently have any patient models that walk with a prosthetic hip joint, but we will certainly look to creating content in this area.
Great video! Is this lady have a full hip disarticulation ? I am learning how to walk now with my prosthetic . I am not up to this level yet but will in. The near future ! I have a great teacher ,.
Thanks for the compliment! She has an above knee (or transfemoral) amputation. She was been working hard for a very long time so she makes it look way easier than it actually is. Happy we can be a resource for you!
Hi team.. do you have any video about the exercise for kids with spastic hemiplegi so they can walk correctly ( not on tip toe) or have normal gait?? Many thanks
Hi there, we do not currently have any content in this area. This is an area that we would recommend seeking out a local clinician that can evaluate the individual situation and address specific needs.
on the cross over drill, are we suppose to twist at the waist every time we step behind or in front? or are we suppose to keep the hips square to the front, which is alot harder and doesnt feel like pelvic rotation?
We like this drill because you have to twist at the pelvis to get the best control. It is one of very few exercises in walking rehabilitation that focuses on pelvic rotation, which is an essential part of the walking cycle. So yes, twist at the waist.
The goal of these exercises is to promote participation in activity, whether this is walking, hiking, playing sports, etc. If you are able to confidently perform these exercises with smooth control and without hand support (and do not regularly use an assistive device), you can stop them at that time. However, these are good exercises to regularly re-visit to ensure you maintain your balance control.

Best therapy education there is. Should be mandatory for any prospective therapist

Tracy made it look so easy! I wonder how long she's been on prosthetics?
She has had several years of experience with a prosthetic limb, so she definitely makes it look a lot easier than it can be.
@philly pa i also lost my leg to ewings sarcoma, learning to walk and getting better :)

Yes!
Thank you very much. Very informative and helpful.

Lovely ❤
What if the stumble control fails on my Otto Bock C-Leg ...as it has 3 times?
Did you lean to heavy on your crutch or cane? Or didnt you put enough wait on your C-leg? If it goes wrong thats the cause most of the times..
Good evening I appreciate you sir, I like that very limb AK/R
У меня тоже не получается на долго задержаться на протезе
I want to set foot.? I live in Bangladesh.? How do I contact you or I get.?
We are solely focused on education and research within gait rehabilitation. We do not provide prosthetic components.
For how long would you recomend to do these excersices?
The goal of these exercises is to promote participation in activity, whether this is walking, hiking, playing sports, etc. If you are able to confidently perform these exercises with smooth control and without hand support (and do not regularly use an assistive device), you can stop them at that time. However, these are good exercises to regularly re-visit to ensure you maintain your balance control.
Thank you very much for your deep explanation, sir.
You are most welcome!
