- A textbook, regional tornado outbreak occurred in southeast Oklahoma on the afternoon of April 22, 2020, resulting in multiple strong tornadoes. Storm chasers David Demko and Heidi Farrar began the chase near the town of Springer, and observed a strong tornado just north and east of town. Thankfully, this tornado did little if any damage, and seemed to have avoided any structures (damage survey TBD). The second tornado observed was just to the west of Madill, during the tornado’s rope-out stage; this was eventually rated EF-2. Several minutes later, a new tornado formed from the same storm just east of Madill, and was observed along Linn Road, looking south; this tornado was likely near the town of Cumberland, OK. Tornado number 4 was located near the towns of Cobb and Armstrong, and appeared to have crossed over Lake Durant. Finally, a 5th tornado was observed (rather, glimpsed) to the east of Armstrong, roughly between the towns of Caddo and Bokchito.
