Great instruction. The "Shielding" that was on the previous battery is there for a reason. I would have removed the shielding off the other and put it over the wires for the new battery. Every bit of shielding matters with all those magnets.
@@RottenJeeves there are a few UA-cam video if searched on studio 4 grill cover removal.. for reference but you can use a hard plastic card such as a old credit card, plastic small hard squeegee , or a finger nail carefully. (You Could use a thin flathead screw driver but it will leave marks in the speaker plastic) Then find the grill cover seem and carefully pull up slightly all the way around the speaker .. working it lose and popping it from its tabs . Work slowly, Be careful as it is possible to break the tabs and damage the fabric grill. Complete at your own risk ⚠️ but it is possible . Good luck 🍀 and thank you for watching and your question.
Awesome! I got a studio 1 through a sprint promotion, but soon returned it because it could no longer play an entire music album at full power without shutting off. They took it back & gave me a studio 3, & here I am with the same problem. I am looking forward to changing the battery myself. Thanks!! Update: I just got 80 minutes of full power wireless lithium energy. I unplugged the charging cord, then plugged it back in again, to make sure it was fully charged. Idk, maybe the light decided to shut off too early, making me think it was fully charged? Last time I only got about 40 minutes...It fully charged just under 3 hours. I have had this speaker for over 5 years, so I think I will wait a bit before I change out battery...
@DjMartiniMidwest I love your videos thanks, I have a harman/kardon don't know which one a.friend gave it to me but it doesn't power up even using the power cable could it be the battery maybe if I replace it what advice can you share. Thanks
@@markf350s You could test the battery with a voltmeter but also my speaker only held about 20 minutes of charge .. so I knew the battery needed replacing. Thanks .

@ I also sent back the first battery I got from Amazon because when I got it, I realized it was a small gauge wire between the battery and the plug then the OEM. The battery I got coming now has the same gauge wire with more milliamps to last longer

How do you know the speaker is on? I'm working on one, I have the service manual, its says power button and power LED, I don't see an LED. I think its an Onyx 4, not sure how to know the difference.
@@vernonbosshard9317 On versions 1-4 there is a light on the power button and the volume button. Also should make an audio tone when turned on or off . Thanks
@@DjMartiniMidwest I just got this one from ebay the power button is wore out, takes some extra pressure to turn on, but the lights and sounds come on after that.
Thanks for watching and sharing. The studio 4 is slightly different so that separation tool can be used to pop off the front grill / screen at the seam . It does pop off to expose the speakers . Thanks.

All the wires how did you determine that the battery was no good how did you test and find out that it was the battery?

You can magnetize your screwdrivers pretty easily, look it up it is very handy
