- We plan to play basketball and then donate shoes to the kids at Burbank High School. I’ll also speak to them about important life topics such as life insurance, buying a house, purchasing a car, domestic violence, stepping away from street politics, education, pursuing a master’s degree, and other subjects that I believe the Black community needs to hear.
To enhance the experience, I brought out three former college players: Phil Fanye, Ronald, and Michael Kirkland, to demonstrate the differences in speed and size. Phil stands at 6'10", Ronald at 6'5", and Michael at 6'7". Their presence will inspire the young players and give them a glimpse of what it takes to excel in basketball.
Additionally, I invited a sheriff, a probation officer, a firefighter, and a mental health coach, along with current overseas players and former college athletes, to provide the kids with diverse perspectives on life and their futures. This variety of voices will help them understand that there are many paths to success.
I had @onerealshot put this documentary together, capturing the essence of our mission. @kaleimartin_photography took stunning photographs, while @joaquins.view handled the video work, ensuring we have lasting memories of this impactful day.
Thank you to the coaching staff at Burbank High School for allowing us to make this event happen.
This will be the first stop on our journey to many schools where we plan to give back to inner-city kids. It’s all about community and bringing everyone together.
Thank you all for watching!
