Wonderful video - as a kid of the 70s born in 1966 just the sight and sound of these old diesel locos/Mk1 coaches reminds of a time and place that will be forever of my childhood as my late Father worked on BR for 43 years and we often would go down to London or Skegness on the train. I shut my eyes and just listened and I was back there! Thanks so much.
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it. Well, this is what the railways is all about, never mind today's stock i.e. HST, DMU's and what not, it should still be like this. MRK 1 coaching stock and local hauled all the way. The pure sounds of the local diesel hauled service, the sound of the tracks and the ride is just incredible experience.
27:57 that 40 wasn’t meant to be working on that train the actual engine that was pulling that train was a 26 but the 26 failed on the way so that 40 rescued it....I should know I was on that train
That's right, I can remember that. As far what I can remember, it had a fuel pump failure I think it was. Was actually glad to have a class 40 for the return journey to Pickering :-)
