Yes, problem is though you need to be sure they have done a crime. We had a case here in Aus where the media planted a wallet on a city street then showed a older and younger lady picking it up. The media reported they walked off with it. Well the two nights later on the news they had to apologise and say the lady and her daughter handed it in to the closest police station. That channel just wanted ratings and a world now is dishonest story. The lady recognise herself from clothing and rear view and made the bastards retract it. I like justice too but we must be careful. It is better that two guilty escape than one good person is punished.
Maybe what I'm going to say sounds offensive... but I have noticed that the media has no problem showing the face of non black criminals... but when the criminal is black they refuse to show us his face... I guess the media is scared of how the "black lives matter" movement will react if they did something like that.
I find so strange that many members of the black community show a lot of concern for criminals who happen to share their same skin color...Notice that people of other races don't care about criminals who happen to share their same skin color.

Big Time pastor’s are walking around with security that’s even flocked about their vast houses and many of them are doing nothing for the elderly communities except collecting their money. They Don’t do anything to keep them safe from the monsters that are walking the streets. This is beyond sad.
You’d think that the management that’s getting rent from these retired people would set aside half of the cash to put up cameras & have 24/7/365 security on foot & in car patrolling . For instance in my City there was & older man just 4 streets away from where I live that kept getting his garage & house broken into , he stayed up late one night & caught 3 young men breaking into his house , he shot & killed one of them on the scene & the other 2 men got away , they were caught 2 days later & both were charged with their friends death . Im only 60. But for the first time in my life I carry a gun. I went to a safety training course for the safety of others around me. I did get a permit even though I don't have to have one to carry.

My grandpa kept a loaded pistol in his house in Ohio years ago and he would not hesitate to use it if need be.

The apartments was good and very nice. I use to live there when was 1st open. The management was great. But some of the seniors started keeping their grandchildren and it start getting bad. Suppose to be Seniors citizens. I had to go it was wild after that. Pray that everything work out. They use to be really nice.

The same thing happened in my Aunt's neighborhood. The sad thing that happens is one or two of the seniors allows a grandchild to move in. The grandchild was kicked out of their parents house for a reason. Then the child runs to grandma's house and continues the bad behavior even bringing his gang members. Thankfully the criminal in my Aunt's neighborhood was eventually jailed for being the criminal that he is. Those seniors with grandchildren should not allow them to live with them. There's a reason they were kicked out of their parent's house.

The devil's is at full force. They don't care who they hurt. I have a son and a daughter whom have friends that don't have parents like me. Love caring doesn't mind giving and sharing. Trying to teach them from right in wrong and be respectful. But they don't listen. They think ain't nothing gonna happen to them hanging with theses type of people. Same here. I do what I can do to protect myself. In the house before dark, have a block fence around my back yard, security doors in place. Next I'll need to get a gun, lived all my life without one, now I think I may need to have one.

A senior couple was targeted in their home in my city. They broke into the home while they were home and robbed them. It's ridiculous.
Criminals are working the door knobs here too. In fact they are walking right in with unlocked doors while people are in the kitchen or living rooms can't even have a screen door open. Literally can't go outside of houses here.
These are the SAME circumstances and outcries that netted us the infamous 1994 crime bill. When it happens again NOBODY better complain because it's being done in our communities and WE are doing it to OURSELVES. When you've lived till 60, 70, 80, you have a RIGHT to live in peace and without fear!

I don't understand these criminals who try to break in someone's apartment. Is the reward really worth the risk?? You might steal on average of 20 bucks from these low income folks but they could shoot you in the head before you can even try. This is Texas where there are no strict gun laws.

This is terrifying. When my grandmother was alive someone gained access to her home by posing as a maintenance person and robbed her. Now that my parents are aging I like the condo park we live in less and less. I want to get into an older community just because of skateboards, scooters, motorized bikes, and all terrain vehicles speeding around at all hours. Then there’s the late night parties with truck fulls of minors, domestic disturbances, and since the price of gas has gone up, car break ins are an issue again too.

This is evidently a problem nationwide, from what I've read. It certainly is in my complex in Seattle. I live in a secure bldg, and since January there have been twice, if not more police involved issues.

They need to do a major inspection and make sure the residents that's suppose to be there is residing on the property. Then make it a gated property that can only be accessed with a passcode or some type of card. Then have security guards at night. And cameras on the property.

I find it comforting to know that criminals, I mean kids, are just trying to make sure their elderly neighbors are still alive, and are just trying to make sure that their things will be pawned, I mean taken care of, correctly.

That's absolutely terrible when senior citizens don't even feel safe in their own home. These thugs need to find better things to do with their time. Like get a damn job and leave the elderly people alone! One day they will be elderly and what goes around, comes around!
Put up an gated 10 foot electric fence with cameras on each building talk to the people that live there and ask were are the robbers coming from put cameras on that side too. Put a guard at the gate and have people swipe their cards to get into the community. Pretty sad older people have to deal with idiots with guns running around. Shoot probably buy an old prison and turn it into a community it already has rooms, cafeteria, gym high walls and a yard to plant things or walk around the outside of the buildings, it's protected by them too. Pretty sad, kids have no respect for their elders.

Apartment managment and police working together at the building where I live is in a similar boat because "this is private property'. A lame excuse to not have to do anything or much of anything.
Being elderly is hard enough without having to live in fear in your own home!
Obviously, they need to provide 24/7 armed security guards as well as police patrol. The community should come together with local law enforcement and protect their neighborhoods. Criminals are everywhere but when they target the elderly, it should be a number one priority to focus on safety.

Not only in Houston. These kinds of crimes are everywhere now. The other day someone I knew was shot to death right in front of her home, we suspect unrelated gang activity since she has no enemies. The other day, I was also doing some side jobs delivery for UberEat and this random guy stalked me to the customer's home and chatted up with me. Luckily, I have someone in the car with me and he drove away as soon as he saw the other person in the car. I was so scared since he blocked my way out with his car and I don't want him to think that the customer's house is my house and stalk them too. What is wrong with people? Why are crimes and disrespectfulness such a norm now?
