I wanna play this so badly... looks so fun! I didn't buy it yet because usually I play at 2, rarely at 3... and from what I saw you can only extract the full fun of "Hegemony" with 4 players.
I have it - it is the best game of 2023 by far and it plays well solo (although you miss the interaction). I play with the advanced automata. If you understand the logic, is very easy and logic to play with. Nice review!
Great video. I have this on my shelf and really want to get it to the table so I can cover it but I cracked the rulebook and have never came back. Keep up the good work your quality is inspiring my new channel!
Thank you! I was astonished by the game concept when heard about the game. I haven't thought it will be localised in my country but it will be in 2024. Would buy it for sure. The most hard part is to find game group for this game. I expected Root to be said that this is the most close game. Really glad you have marked it so high
Yeah I passed on it as I had Endless Winter and Voidfall and Andromedas Edge planned, so had to choose :) But nice review, would love to try, but even tho I love asymmetry my group do not enjoy it as much, it always causes problems Root, rarely gets to see daylight, Vast the same, people are fine with asymmetry as long as it is like one ability that is different, but completely different playstyles usually kinda turn people off at least in my play groups :)
I will try to find 3 other people to play this with me! A lot of your review reminded me of my current favorite game, Sidereal Confluence. Have you played it? My guess is Sidereal is more chaotic and faster paced but loses some of the real world application that looks amazing in Hegemony.
Happy you rated it a must have i was waiting for your review but ended up pre ordering it yesterday glad you liked it,, i seem to agree with a a lot of your reviews
This game is right up my alley, but I have 0 friends who would even want to attempt this game with me. Ugh, frustrating. Lol Great review guys, much appreciated! Still my fav board game channel. :D
Is there any point playing this with 2 players? Some days yes, some say no. Can’t decide if I should bother spending $100 on it if it doesn’t work with 2.
I don't know how and when I will be able to play this with other people but I don't care because this looks amazing-thinky and very thematic. My copy with expansions is on the way and I am so excited about it. Better start going through that rulebook right away. Thank you for the review guys.
How long does tha game took you from start to end (including rules teach)? I just recently played next to a group who was not capable to finish in 6 hours and from that moment I am afraid to join the mstch.
It really depends on the group. JT had one game that lasted 6h including rules. All games I have played have been around 4h including rules. I highly suggest not "try-harding" the 1st time you play. Just play and try to get through the game while understanding rules. I can see this being a 3h game for me and the players I usually play with. I refer to 4 player games here. 3 player games most likely even shorter. However I would rather never play with less than 4. /JG
You've almost convinced me to buy this but... How does it play at 2? Or do you need the full 4 players every time? And is it on the same level of asymmetry as Root, cos ain't nobody got time for that (well, I don't anyway 😅)
With 2 players, one player is the working class and one is the capitalists as their needs/goals play against each other. I believe the rules suggest your first game be a 2 player one to simplify the learning curve. Adding a 3rd player means they play the middle class. The State is only played with 4 players. I imagine this game shines the most with 4. You just need to find 4 experienced BGers and the hours of time needed.
@@jackdillon5903 Thanks, I've actually played the game since and yeah I think it definitely needs at least 3, preferably 4. But what an awesome game, it's now at the top of my wishlist :)
I get that there are politics in this game, but is it really interactive? Chess is the most interactive game, even if there are no politics. Every single action you take (every move you make) is a direct interaction with your opponent. That's because the game is very symmetrical. So how can an asymmetrical game be interactive? Also, if you don't know who's winning, how do you know who you should stop and who you should ally with?
I'm not a heavy gamer, the most complex game i think i played and love was arnak, but this madafacker is so themebastic that i Just do not feel is that complex to play, it makes sense doing what you need to do in the game, if only this game was not most points wins it would be near perfect(it is a me problem, i'm Just not a fan of that win condition mechanic ) , but damn it is an awesome game and once you hace a dedicated group it flows amazing
For me, hegemony looks better than it is. But that's a matter of taste of course. It is too much for me, takes too much time, too much discussion, and the topic is kind of dry. (first 4p game started at 1900, ended at 0300) The rules are also complicated and asymetrical. With 4 players, one plays the state where he basically has to please all the others (which kind of sucks). Knowing all the rules for each player (as being a teacher) is totally tiresome in this game. The aesthetics are good though, it is a high quality game and I like the idea behind it.
You’re becoming one of my favorite boardgame channels!
Great review of a wonderfully unique game! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
spot on review, only played 3 times so far, but every time was distinctive and exciting. its definitely next to war room and ti4 in my lists
I wanna play this so badly... looks so fun! I didn't buy it yet because usually I play at 2, rarely at 3... and from what I saw you can only extract the full fun of "Hegemony" with 4 players.
I love the format of your videos.
mine is already on the way... tough part will be finding 4 people to play it
This looks like a perfect game for me, but I don't have right people for this kind of game... Root was complicated for them...
I have it - it is the best game of 2023 by far and it plays well solo (although you miss the interaction). I play with the advanced automata. If you understand the logic, is very easy and logic to play with.
Nice review!
@@inabruno8844wait you can play hegemony solo? How?
i would play it with u ❤
You guys deserve even more subscribers! Love your content. :)

Same here. Got the extended edition. Checked eBay and prices are $350+. Got me thinking
Played first time this week. Becoming maybe my favorite game

Enjoyed your rapport with each other. Well done. Gonna pick this game up
I bought this game because of this review and my group absolutely loves it! Such a great game
Great to hear that! Hegemony is amazing :)
Totale agree, it sky rocket on to my number one! This could easily be number one too on BGG!
Our first game took 6 hours and we loved every second!
Same, in our case followed up by a 3 hour second game.

someday you will find someone
Euro game with catan like table talk? Yes please
I would say that John Company is a similar game to this. You have to work together but still not let any other player ahead. Lots of politics also
I've watched Dice Tower's and Shut Up and Sit Down's reviews of this game and I'd put you guys up in the same great quality of review! 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoy our work :)
Great video guys, thanks
I was already thinking about buying this game.
Now I'm not gonna b... Just kidding, we are getting this as our next game.
Is there any point playing this with 2 players? Some days yes, some say no. Can’t decide if I should bother spending $100 on it if it doesn’t work with 2.
I would say, to get a full experience, no, 2 is not going to be good. Its going to be ok, but not good. /JG
you scratch me, i’ll scratch you! 😂😂😂

You'll have a blast! We can't wait to get it on the table again
Hello i buy this game yesterday😊 i am live in iran this first game in iran

Ok, this is awesome.
How does it play for 2 players? We love asymmetric games

I've played at 4 and 3, 4 feels perfect and 3 was playable. Not sure 2 would suit.

Seems like a super cool game
Is there a solo mode?

I feel like I was there with you guys! Great review. "I will never ever, ever in any board game ever buy anything from you again." Clasic.
Sound like Pax series.

You guys are just great!
can you introduce hegemony to people whos new to the hobby just like you said about Ark Nova? 🤣🤣
Got the game a week ago, got the wrong set of action cards... Now patiently waiting for replacement deck...
It's only missing a banking class
I started singing Worker Paroles while going on Strike. Most thematic game with the best table talk, it's by far my game of the year

capitalism is a friend of mankind, unlike communism, I hope it is not in the game)
Not my kinda game tbh. Leaving comment for algorithm

The amount of jump cuts in this video is vomit-inducing.
