Coming to your question: in my honest opinion, here's what I surmise. Among others it looks like the marriage fabric between the Rahmans is quite worn n thin. The main reason being ARR has FROM THE INCEPTION of his marriage been tolerated of his almost 'hermit' like music obsession (prolly it is the muslim culture, prolly Rahman's unique personality twist, Saira's stoic attitude among others). But now, finally Saira has had enough. So there is only one party that can save the marriage, and that must be Rahman himself. Cuz his wife has had enough. So if he expects her to merely continue the old trend, then there's nothing for her to gain in the years ahead of enduring such torture. If Rahman thinks it's worth making an alteration to his lifestyle altogether and redeem his marriage on the bargain, and makes that offer, Saira may take a lil time to budge, but she will be more than happy to get her marriage back, but more importantly her husband n his soul back into the marriage. They will love each other more. This may be a drastic step for ARR to take, but he will have to do it to save his family, n i think more importantly a legacy. Much love n regards.

Hmm...i might note 2 things regarding cine field: 1. Always cine field was vulgar. Back then people were more conservative, but cinema was vulgar for that time (although not like today). 2. Today the world is very different. People are far more liberal, and that has moved public attitudes n cinema so much further out. If Rahman has to survive in today's cine music industry, then he has to make certain compromises (if not he will have to leave it. That usually people who are exceptionally gifted n do not find other alternatives to engage their skills find very hard!). But in general, the man has largely kept his clean image on marriage n morality. Besides, islam is extremely conservative. So in general, Muslims who engage in non-muslim world will automatically be liberal.
