- Two-minute background story on 'Farewell to Nova Scotia', with the clip that made Catherine McKinnon famous. From the documentary about Canadian folklorist Helen Creighton, 'A Sigh and a Wish'.
Fascinating, lovely, I'll be looking for more about this timeless song and it's discoverers.
Catherine McKinnon was one of the first girls I ever kissed as a young lad!
Helen Creighton , our own hero.

Can anyone tell me who is singing that isn't Catherine Mckinnon?! Their voice just slays me...
I like Catherine Mackinnon's Both sides now; I had a brother-in-law from New Brunswick and he looked exactly like Tiny Tim; ha.
Thanks for the info. It looks like Smithsonian hasn't released any version of 'Farewell to Nova Scotia' recorded by Helen Creighton. It's probably moldering away in their - or another museum's - archive.
What film is that clip at 1:45 from?
i would love to know the same thing!
