Finally a video where you can hear Joji and not 89% audience 😅 he sounds amazing! now I hope in the next show he also sings the higher note of “do I still wish that it was you”
It's probably because this show took place inside where the sound had a space to reverberate. I was at the Stanford (outdoor) show and he sounded amazing but in the videos of the performance, his voice somewhat gets lost in the sound of the crowd.
@@beartrap3400 Could also be a choice to save his voice if touring is intense. It's also a great place to sneak in some audience focus. If this is the case, it's the right way to do it. Doesn't feel forced, since i think he can hit those notes live if he wants to.
hate to break it to you, but i've spent a lot of time on the road with bands and music artists doing audio work for them. the 89% in this video isn't the audience singing, but instead a backing track. joji can't hit high notes as often as people think. for example the chorus, there is a high pitched and a standard monotone vocal. joji sings the monotone vocal while the high pitched vocal plays behind him.
@@Bluntula That is the talent he has been more or less hiding in this Filthy Frank and Pink Guy times. Nectar and Ballads 1 are his other albums. Nectar is particularly good and shows a good amount of versatility. Most of his popular songs on Spotify are good. People probably get annoyed at him not hitting all the high notes but I like the effect of the backing track doing the notes high and him singing low. It sounds really nice. Octaves are cool lol.
Here's to that. To be live and possibly suspect that he might not reach those highs, adjusting on the fly to deliver just an equally good performance regardless of that. I'm so proud of this man and his accomplishments.
He's just not that good of a singer as people make him out to be. I'm aware that he likes to sing, produce music and such but it doesn't mean he has the voice for it. As heard in this video, his range is very small, he sings monotonously and doesn't even seem to cover at least an octave of range. He's only a decent singer but nothing to write home about.
