Western horror nice I always want to see how westerns encounter legendary monsters like Sasquatch, the Jersey Devil, Mothman, Goatman, Thunderbird, and a Skinwalker
That man who plays the sheriff is just beautiful, he must be half native american, half african american. Fantastic short! Absolutely loved the setting!
This was stunning! I LOVED the practical effects for the wendigo, so cool! And I loved the natural elk noises mixed with more unnatural roars. You guys did so well with a low budget. Simply amazing!
@@Snowblindproduction You're most welcome! I love the wendigo legend and am planning my own short film, very low budget as medical bills have set me back. But this short film has inspired me a lot, thank you very much for that! Can't wait to see what you put out next! May I suggest the skin walker legend, another creepy native american legend 😉
Well done. The legend comes from a time of famine where all the animals died and the Peoples resorted to eating each other to survive and the Wendigo Evil was created and stalked the land. That is what I have read.
Bravo! This is phenomenal in every way! I cannot believe it took so long to show up in my recommended. Western Horror is rare and highly underrated. I loved the way thr wendigo looked too. Great work!
Amazing job man thank you for following what the myth of the Wendigo looks like and the Legend behind them you are a competent directior then most of the garbage we get from Hollywood these last few years not saying we're not getting any good movies just a few gems but this is a classic diamond in the rough. Thanks for following your heart in this film not many of those around.
@@RoelPostma thanks for the feedback! One of our inspirations was actually b western movies of the 50s that weren’t very accurate but have a charm of their own. Thanks for watching!
We have been patiently awaiting the release of this, we are a bit late in checking back in to see if uploaded but glad we did. What an immersive short! Superb acting from the cast and the practical effects were wonderfully gruesome. Also loved the Wendigo sound effects- spot on. We hope the Digilegs added to your wendigo character as you imagined! Great work chaps!
This was way better than the one shorter movie I watched earlier that was half as long and had no coherent story line and made no sense in the end. This had drama, an emotional hook with the boy being kidnapped, solid acting, and that Wendigo was *scary* when the big reveal came. The booming footsteps, elk noises, and suspense added a lot to it, and I liked how it was a humanoid wearing a deer (elk?) skull as opposed to just a deer skull--it added an extra element of horror to the creature to see it with an actual human like face. Well done, y'all!
Thank you so much! We loved every step of making this movie and Kris Carol knocked the special effects out of the park!! Fun fact: the wendigo monster was over 10ft tall in real life, the actor was on a pair of special stilts that bend like animal legs. We appreciate your comment, have a great day!
First saw The Wendigo on the old TV B&W show, Great Ghost Tales back in the late /50s-early '60s. Other than it scared the crap out of this kid, all I remember is a group of men around a campfire as one tells of his encounter with the Wendigo.
Hate to nitpick anachronism, but the fridge in the farm house is from about 1920's era. More year specific, 1927 and ran on electricity. While still western style horror, I'd peg more towards 'Wierd Wild West'. Where things are familiar but not quite the same. Leaves a lot of wiggle room for other fantasy additions.
nothing has more power then a loving mother ALSO DAMMMMMN THAT WENDIGO RECONCEPTION IS FINEEE and i like how they actually did researching a wendigos weakness is fire
There is a reason we fear so much the Forest... It have so many names, but the story is the same, a monster that roam the Forest and eat humans and animals alike. Our ancestors told us about it, but we think is just a story to scare children.
Great film guys and gals. There's only one question I have to ask.? Doesn't the legend of the Wendigo say that whoever kills the Wendigo becomes the Wendigo?
Hes similiar to the draugr of norce myth... could be that near-death exprience (like starvation) force an insmouth's fish-folk like-transformation, in "caterpilar in cocoon (=tomb, womb) like faze (more they eat, the more grow ,never full"? Same thing about opir, preta...

Western and horror is the most flawless chemistry ever.... no doubt In my mind... The horror is pretty insane, clothing, scenario and whatnot... A great effort and amount of time has gone into this job.... . However the only thing that bothers me a great deal is as for the performances. They were unable to hold a candle to the rest, or rather, to the great production. The actings - practically all- leave a lot to be desired. Just saying I’ve subscribed anyways
Hey there! Thanks for watching! In this film our special effects person used pantyhose stuffed with various scraps of fabric (most likely other pantyhose) and soaked in fake blood. There are several fake blood recipes you can use but you can never go wrong with the store bought stuff. It’s surprisingly convincing especially on camera.
This was great! Enjoy all of your films. What camera did you use? I have always been interested in filmmaking but I can't decide what camera to start with. Do you have any recommendations? I am can't decide between a DSLR or a mirrorless. Thanks for any help you can give me. Would love to find something less than $1000 if possible (maybe less than $700). Thanks again and keep up the good work.
The only things that would kill the Wendigo are silver stakes or silver bullets to its icy blue heart and also killing the beast with flaming torch of very hot burning fires!!!
It took me a while for someone to make an honest comment about the overall acting some of the people are good and some were….not so much. Good effort on a short budget though.
If that’s the thing you payed attention to, you probably want to reevaluate your life bud. Last I checked there aren’t wendigos snatching kids from barns in the 1800s either. Maybe eat a snickers bar and cool off.
Never mess with a wrath filled Mother's soul grieving over her child's murder.

I didn’t think Indians were sheriffs in western days
I like happy endings ... No matter how morbid.
So much effort so little appreciation
The wending o has always been my favorite monster and seeing stories on it just brightens my day
Not one of the video/film versions captures the true creepiness and horror of the written story you need to read it for sure if you haven’t already.

I know! Was that thing scary or what? I agree, a proper Skinwalker movie based in the actual lore would be awesome.
Not many know what elk sound like.
