  • The video goes through how to replace the battery in a Fluke series 91 and 96 Scopemeter. The first meter has a clean battery compartment and the second one has a corroded battery compartment caused by leakage from it's original 30 year old Nickel Cadmium battery. The video suggests that either water and baking soda can be used to clean off the corrosion or alcohol. In the second instances, an old toothbrush, steel wool and a file are needed to remove the leakage, corrosion, and debris from the battery compartment. It is suggested to use gloves and the corosion and debris should be treated as toxic waste and disposed of in a proper manner. Cadmium is a toxic metal and contact with it should be minimized.
