EMERGENCY STORY SHED.
GENIUS.
💪👍🤣
Thanks John! 👍😁
Hi mate
Gotta love sorting out random bits and pieces.
I bought a metal drawer set like those for a dollar. It was about 25 years ago, its full of weird stuff and it has been amazing how many times it has had just the right doovie for the wotsit I'm working on
What a journey getting through that shed.
Cheers Rob
Thanks Rob, yes little odds and ends from old parts drawers have often got me out of trouble with a repair job! 👍😊
Nice plane mister! ...actual fact, Stanley still make that exact same model, the 12-004 sell new at Sydney Tools for $158 AUD.
As for the drawer full of variable capacitors ...geez, that takes me back to a time when I made crystal receivers from old radio parts and use Mum's clothes-line as an antenna.
Oh I didn't realise they still have that model! I'll bet it's not Australian made though!
@@TheUltimateRecycler...Stanley moved all tool manufacturing to Taiwan 1996.
I really liked the idea of how you conduct your sales, where you put a product up for sale for say $10 and you leave the item for two weeks, and if it doesn't sell you cut the price in half and then you leave it for two weeks and if it doesn't sell you put it up for free delivery. I implement this in my sales business and it works well.
I like being disciplined with stock and moving it through a series of discounts until it sells, or it's free is a great way to keep shop stock fresh and dustless! It does take some commitment to be organised enough though!
Small bulbs- older car dashboards/ (also m/c) radios bicycle headlamps. sort into ES or bayonet voltage and wattage
When I dig out enough parts drawers I will have one dedicated to globes and plan to sort them accordingly 👌
Thanks Chris, that was a fun episode, it was interesting to root through your parts drawers from over your shoulder, I wonder what mine would say about me ? 🤔🤣
The Makita sander is a good find, quality tool and doesn't look much used, the older ones have better velcro too, less likely to wear out and the replacement pads are pricey.
The plane is a Stanley No4 "Smoothing plane" and I agree it looks like Early 80s vintage so not so collectible as older ones but quite usable and better than most of the junk being made today in the far east for £20. We are very fortunate in the UK that there are many thousands of the earlier pre 70s planes still around and a few years ago you could pick one up under £10, since covid and the growth of UA-cam maker videos the prices have increased but you can still easily pick up a decent one for £20-30 here ! That one looks like it's never been used, the surface rust can easily be cleaned off by "lapping" the casting on a flat surface using abrasive paper !
Your putting out a lot of content these days. I can barely keep up. Found some great keepers this time. Excited to see what you turn up next.
I just figure I may as well film just about everything I do! Thanks for your continued support Kayle 👍😊
I feel I am both your quality control manager and your inventory manager... I'm yelling at the screen, "You need to include a chuck key to sell with that drill! And I know you have a jar of them in your shed!" You are keeping bits and pieces for some day, well today is the day!
Just as we speak Shane, I have procured a chuck key from the stash of them that I have - and included it in the drill case! Now we are both happy! 😁😁🤣
Very nice to have the Australian made Stanley. Thats really as good as it gets. (Dont tell the Americans that of course).
Haha, Mum's the word mate! 😉🤣
Handy! 😆
Definitely mate! 😆
Some good keepers in those tools, even the Skill drill is a good one. I recently bought some parts cases, to sort more bits and pieces. Been hot and humid here. 👍
Thanks Alex. Yeah I'm very happy with the keepers! It's been a long hot week alright!
I have a jade colored glass step pyramid foot similar to yours. I can't part with it yet either.
Don't empty the van too quickly it's just gonna invite another shed cleanout into your life!!
Well hopefully there are no other good deals pop up soon Nas as I need to go back to the farm soon!
You just popped up and apparently I am always on my computer. Thanks for sharing
Lol, or U waiting for chris
Thanks Cynthia and well done on being first! 🙌😀
always need spare collets , they fly over the garage floor never to be found
I'll take my chances with that! Most engines I work on don't use collets!
You have a great collection of parts & bits! Have you worked out some type of inventory/organizational system that allows you to easily find a particular item when you're looking for it? I would appreciate your sharing how you manage so many varied & small bits.
Well Dudley, at this stage it's more of a "good luck" system as to whether I manage to find anything or not!! 🙄🤣🤣
@TheUltimateRecycler I do wonder which proves most accurate/helpful, the good luck system or our memories!? 🤣💙
@@dudley8671 Probably the good luck system as we get older! 🤣🤣
3 and 1 oil makes a good lubricant and storage treatment for any metal tools. Lasts longer than wd 40 imo
Yep, that's a good idea! 👍😊
It's funny I took a pile of old number plates to scrap yard and they said by the law we can't buy them off you but we can take them for free. I said I'll just take them to the transport myself. I've got him in a box somewhere. Cheers Graham
They'll take them for free and the workers will take them home to their sheds Graham! 🤣
@TheUltimateRecycler mayb that was their idea, but I kept them. Same as circuit boards they pay scrap metal price $0.09 a kg. I took that home too. If I ever find a kiln for free. I run them thru it and shake off all the chips. I've seen a video on it looks like the best way to do it..
stick the makita label on properly
Yep, I will! 👍
I don't blame you for keeping the little bases, they are so cute. Please let us know if you find a use for them!
The storage shed is certainly feeling less claustrophobic now.
That tiny light bulb with the textured pattern was unusual. Do you know the reason for the pattern?
Had one on a motorcycle its to diffuse the light from a single point of the fillament
@@highpath4776 Thanks highpath, it occurred to me later that it was for diffusion. Thanks so much for your answer to my query.
Thanks Dee. Yep, I would agree with the diffusion reason 👍
Whatever I do with those deco bases I'll probably film 😊
@@TheUltimateRecycler I have a pair like that with uprights that make a photo frame (actually they are plastic , but same shape and date from the 1930s)
I suggest you run ahead a bit. you know CRTs sell (depending what you have from house clearences) and maybe that VHS (check its specs ) would be easy move on if you dont need them
Yep, also the good thing with CRTs is it frees up a lot of room quickly when they go! 😊👍
Hi Chris.
Could you mention the You Tubers that you Follow, so we can have a look at them too.
I loved all the old radio parts in the drawers, I do the same.
Ian T.
PS. Glad thar you kept those nice art deco "feet "
Thanks Ian, I watch a few varied channels including some scrappers, some tech channels and some other bits & pieces! I'll run through them in a video at some stage 😊👍
wash those drawer holders out
@@highpath4776 I did clean them up a bit 👍
If you weren't going to keep them, you could have sold them as an official 'small engine repair kit'. Who better to put together a kit, then someone that walked the walk!?
@@martincowie4520 Haha, yeah but I think I'd have to come up with a more useful kit!
I enjoy these series…but…do you really want to wait 4 or 5 years before you can set up your workshop? I think you should step up the clean out and make some tough decisions so you can set up your workshop.
Fair point Dianne, but I am really enjoying the journey! I won't be emptying the entire shed before I start setting things up so it won't be that long! I'll do a video soon on planning out the future workshop 👍😊
