I made this entire video on a Steam Deck while away from home. There are several editing errors that only exist because of glitches during the export and I have zero clue why! Glory to Linux! Happy New Year everyone 🥂
*if i had a nickel for every time shabuya has been modded into a recent sonic game i would have 2 nickles now that isn’t a lot but it’s strange that it happened twice….* ANYWAYS MY BOY OMEGA IS SLAYING THAT FIT
Honestly, I wish mods like this were official. Imagine if Sega released a holiday themed game mode where not only does it give you a festive costume, but it even changes the levels to be holiday themed. Like imagine the Ark with Christmas lights all across it, or sunset height with snow. And then go the extra mile maybe even the enemies could have little elf hats on or something like that? Or perhaps you could leave them as is and give off the effect that they are a bunch of humbugs And this doesn’t just go for Christmas. I would be just as happy seeing a Halloween themed seasonal update where everyone has some sort of costume on and there’s a bunch of spooky themed decorations scattered across the level.
“[sonic vs shadow] is easily everyone’s favorite rivalry.” Actually, there’s a screen rant article claiming Jet the hawk is Sonic’s greatest rival and that he should appear in the movies. I love the biolizard mod lol.
Jet would be a bigger contender if he just...had more content :( Personally I find Jet a little more entertaining than Shadow but Sonic v. Shadow has higher peaks
I can't imagine you had to go through the painful process of adding these mods on the Steam Dec but I am beyond impressed by this I hope you covered more Steam Dec content on your future videos since I find this stuff really interesting and also I don't have a pc and I really want to try out mods for sonic games so maybe this will help me out a lot 😅
Part of why I find the Steam Deck fascinating is what it can do for people who are unable to build a beefy desktop. Sure, laptops exist but they're not very future proof and are generally more expensive than one of these. I'd love to make a tutorial sometime to streamline the process for others. It was pretty frustrating on my end lol I think the hardest part of it all was editing the video on this thing 😅
@DolphynsDeck yeah man I totally agree and also, I don't want you to rush out a tutorial video since I want you to be comfortable and know what you're doing when you think the time is right then you should release the video on the Steam Deck mods tutorial anyways, merry Christmas, I guess and happy new year 🥳😅
7:00 A cool thing about Santa Big is that he's also shown up in Sonic Speed Simulator and the beta for Sonic Rumble! It's basically THE alternate outfit I think of for Big nowadays. That and the Froggy Fan Outfit from TSR Overdrive. (Also made it into Speed Sim) I hope the Speed Sim original outfits get more mods over time, there was one I saw which added all 6 Android Shadows and the bonus Gold one which originates from the game.
It's weird that plenty of these designs are unified in the spin-offs, but not the main material. Treasure Hunter Knuckles is getting a damn Funko Pop but appears nowhere in the main games!
I just wish Sonic Team actually implemented these costumes into their games instead of making them DLC. I remember that one Sonic Channel image of Shadow walking down the street looking at a pair of shoes. He was wearing a coat and that scarf Tails gave him for Christmas, I wish that was a costume in the games. Honestly, they have so much source material to pull from I wish they'd pull a Mario Odyssey and just give all these characters a crap load of costumes.
They kept toying with customization in Forces and Colors. They really need to commit at this point especially considering how artistic and analytical the Sonic community is.
hi christmas cheer mod maker here i rushed this heavily for this christmas due to the fact i forgot i was making it lol i had BIG plans to overhaul white space with christmas decor and replace the doom space trigger with a christmas tree, alongside adding more detail to every character (i worked on this for a total of 4 hours before christmas) i am planning on remaking it throughout the entire year and releasing it christmas of 2025 anyways thanks for looking at my mod i appreciate it
I love the idea of it updating during multiple Christmases, gives me something to look forward to!! 🙏 I will be your biggest fan until the end of time if you can somehow add snow to the hub :)
A bit unrelated but, kinda sad about Sonic & Knuckles not even being seen as rivals anymore, I really miss the times when everything was fun and games until Sonic vs Knuckles kicked in... then again, that was mostly on spinoffs and only in like 3 mainline games, so I suppose it's not that much of a loss for most people... I still miss it though. :')
They were rivals in 3, Adventure, Triple Trouble, Advance & Rivals (lol) which is a pretty good spread. I would love for them to find an excuse to have Sonic and Knuckles duke it out again though. I understand they're close friends now so I'd settle for a sparring match or something. It would go hard for an intro cutscene in a mainline game.
I really wish I knew Shadow Gens would run damn near perfectly on Steam Deck. I got the PS5 version just because of uncertainty. I'll wait for a decent price drop on Steam so I can mess about with mods!
@DolphynsDeck I saw that sale, it was still more than what I bought it for on PS5 (I got lucky on Amazon haha). It'll get cheaper in the coming months and Steam constantly have sales during the year so I'll definitely keep an eye out!
Yo Dolphin, you heard a Sonic Fangame's second demo got released? I haven't played it yet but I recommend you do! Also Knuckles is one of the playable characters
I used this. I'll probably make a video guide that makes it easier to understand www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/18phld9/hedgemodmanager_steam_deck_installation_guide/
Oh damn! Gotta agree tbh. It's a shame spin-off designs like that aren't more widely known about. I didn't even know it existed until now. It's elegant but still casual.
What settings do you use on Deck? I have everything on high but shadows and volumetric lights and FXAA instead of TAA and get 60 frames 99% of the time, but I noticed in some of your screenshots you're only getting 40
I limited my game to 40 for battery life but it hovers 58-60 normally. Frontiers: No AA, 75% render, low shadows & high on everything else Generations: No AA, 100% render, low shadows & high everything else iirc

I think I've seen it in Sonic Gens, Shadow Gens, Frontiers and one other game I can't pinpoint (maybe Lost World?)

Rail Canyon becomes Sky Rail with pumpkin decor 😎

I thought the title of the video said "Sonic Frontiers" for a second and was slightly curious for no particular reason
I do have interest in playing the Christmas Fest mod
@@DolphynsDeck Bro does not know what is coming next

I wanna mod hedgehog engine games on deck, but I'm not all too motivated to get it working at the moment.
Once I make a tutorial the process should genuinely be 10 minutes max.

Show me a video on how to mod the steam deck
12:27 Yeah, he did
Steam Deck is not a handheld console it's a handheld PC
I wasn't editing on a PS4 this whole time......?
Great video !

Sonic Galactic I believe? I want to record it today after I get home.
@@DolphynsDeck Yeah, I've already gone and downloaded it, I'm just waiting for a friend to come over so I can play it with him after watching Sonic 3
Build a Bear movie shadow is cute
Wait, how did you manage to get Shadow Gens and Sonic Frontiers mods to work on the Steam Deck? It didn’t work for me.
I used this. I'll probably make a video guide that makes it easier to understand www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/18phld9/hedgemodmanager_steam_deck_installation_guide/
ngl i feel like holiday shadow from sonic speed simulator on roblox would look better than the frontiers suit

@DolphynsDeck fun fact: forces speed battle isnt the sonic game with the biggest roster, sonic speed simulator is with 200+ characters/skins

Frontiers: No AA, 75% render, low shadows & high on everything else

@DolphynsDeck battery life is fair, Shadow TANKS the battery
PEAKKKKKKKKK
