I thought I was the only one who went to goodwills for unrecognized treasures lol! I mostly go to garage sales, but goodwills can have some good stuff. My best find was at a garage sale, I bought a stein for 10 dollars and it turned out to be a mettlach worth around 700. Also bought a silver spoon for 50 cents and sold it for 50 dollars in scrap. Dont be afraid to trash drive either. I have found some good antiques. Trashy flea markets are great too.
Nice score! It is amazing what you can find at Goodwill and what people will throw out or give away. I look forward to some future metal detecting videos. Happy hunting!
Pink dish is the old maybe 1960's give or take. At around .85 a gram about $9 each. Minus the $2.00 cost $7 profit on each x 10 = $70 for the coasters. NS is going to be "Nickel Silver" sadly NS contains no silver. The jewelry and stuff is around $30.00 scrap but it all looks like wearable jewelery, so sell it as *wearable* if you sell it and add a few dollars to each. Awesome haul, its amazing such a big city and everyone is still clueless. Don't forget to check the gold too. Keep @ it HH !
Here in Wisconsin Goodwill checks everything before it hits the shelf. They wised up after seeing videos like this. I bet your store will soon see this video.
The glass candy dish with the blue in it is Cobalt Blue Viking glass. Very pretty and easy to sell. If I were selling it I would take no less than $15 but would start out asking $25 for it as long as there are no chips and cracks. Made between 1944 - 1970
You got a good eye! That striped bowl could be worth more than the silver. Pink one looks like depression glass. Might want to take those to an antique store. Antiques roadshow ever comes your way, enter the raffle for tickets. I know you have something cool to bring. HH
Very unusual for Goodwill to have Sterling. The first thing GW does here is search all the spoons for silver and they go somwhere else. NS, I think means "not silver." I have only found one spoon that might be silver in 10 years there. It actually might be worth more as a 175 year old spoon than silver.
When looking for old/antique clear glass..........look for a purple cast to the glass. When glass ages, it oxidizes and gets a purple cast to it. Great haul for you.
Nice score. The square piece is probably a bangle that has been bent. Funny but the Goodwill stores in my neck of the woods don't carry jewelry..bummer.
I know this is years later so you probably all ready have discovered what the spoons are are made of but I bought one identical with different manufacturer marking. I picked it up at an estate sale and it turned out to be coin silver.
What?! Now that's some interesting treasure hunting. We have Goodwill Thrift stores all over the place. That haul must be worth at least $100. Can you sell it easily? I must say that was a very fascinating video.
nice, i'll have to bring my magnifying glass to the thrift store next time. I did score one of those mustang flotation suits this year. New condition retails for $825 for $20.
Ive found not only silver jewelry but gold with precious and semi-precious stones. Usually they are dirty and look like costume jewelry. Also, some marks are not easily found without a loupe . Treasures are out there if you look hard enough ! In my local thriftstore someone last year found an actual painting by one of the masters, i forget which one . Turned out to be worth over a million dollars !!
It's getting much harder to find a haul like that. Today, I found some silver plate flatware at 10 cents apiece, and I jumped on them. They may not be sterling, but they are 1930s and in good condition.
Wow!.........a few seconds in and I see that I went to the salvation Army today and I also bought similar items......3 of which were 2 small oblong gold irradecent colored candy dishes both have handles on them....and the other is the same type of crystal dish by Mikasa) but instead of the blue stripes mine has green stripes......it was the first dish that I selected to keep my jewelry in, ....and the last is what is called a large hand painted soup tureen (no lid) made in Italy.......I think its porcelain it has very, very fine crackels in it......I'm not sure yet when it was made ......Im still looking for the hallmark on the internet
another thing to check is to go where coin star machines are they reject silver and Canadian and foreign coins most people are in a hurry and just leave what drops out in the machine and leave I collected several silver quarters and dimes out of them just something you might want to start checking to
That pink dish, I'm almost certain it's depression ware... In the depression, grocery stores gave it out when a customer spent a certain amount of money, although there are reproductions..
a few more minutes in and I see what looks like a Navajo turquoise ring, I bought 2 of those type a few weeks ago, the turquoise is oblong shaped one has the frame of flower petal at the top and bottom with 3 lines at each side, and the other has a rectangle frame with 5 lines on each side..........pics of your ring can be found if you google it
Idk how to tell if that is nickel silver or not but what sucks is that nickel silver contains no silver at all :( I bought a spoon from Rogers bros from 1847. it was nickel silver and silver plated. basically worthless lol:(

Great finds but I dunno if I would melt down a Catholic Charm that's pretty sac-religious no matter what your religion is. Besides I don't think or believe anyone shall make money off anything religious or spiritual. Even though that what Church does but I don't believe in the church either so whatever.
The glass is just cheap glass... the colors might add some value. it is molded common glass. What you want in glass is crystal or bohemian glass. It is clearer than normal glass. It is made from a higher quality of sand. Also you want cut glass carved with a diamond or etched with acid. You are weighing the silver over and over. The marshal fields name has value buy anything you see with the Marshall Fields name. Exceptionally high standard in quality and workmanship. About weight of silver The value in silver is in the pattern or workmanship not in the weight. Do not clean with aluminum foil baking soda and water. ruins silver. very bad. to clean use silver dip and parker and bailey.
What is wrong with these people, don't they know what precious metals are ??? They probably had their underwear on backwards as well .... holy freakin Christ !!

The coaster were also sometimes sold as ashtrays in sets that also included a lighter and cigarette holder

Same in Palm Springs, CA.. No cheap silver in thrift stores here...
De'Ana Bloomer, agree, also think they take good stuff home...

I was thinking the same thing.... those cranberry pieces are expensive because of the gold....

Nice haul! Congrats!
Sweet finds man! So how did you do? What is it all worth compared to what was spent? Im also interested to see what those spoons turn out to be!
another thing to check is to go where coin star machines are they reject silver and Canadian and foreign coins most people are in a hurry and just leave what drops out in the machine and leave I collected several silver quarters and dimes out of them just something you might want to start checking to

Another nice catch. Congrats.
That pink dish, I'm almost certain it's depression ware...

Nice, I thought goodwill only had little black dresses :)
Nice catches again!
The spoons are Federal Style "Fiddle Back" Spoons. They might be .900 "coin silver" ??? Nice haul!
How about nickel silver?
$82.00 in Silver weight...is that correct? ..give or take with stone in one ring??
Could it be Victorian Cranberry Ware?
just an FYI, glass blowers use Gold to turn glass red.

The spoons are nickel silver but still worth a few dollars more than you paid.
You've prob been asked 1000 times but did you ever find out about getting some kind of permit to resume md'ing?
Great score, I guess if they pass a law against detecting in the woods we have to adapt.
Looks like a good thing u have there
