  • UPDATE: There was a typo on the workbook image. SK3 peak amperage with the 11x6 prop was 45.60 not 44.90.
    This is the rcvideoreviews.com First Look and Bench Test of the Sunnysky x2820 800kv (3542 / 138 gram) brushless motor.
    Here is a link for the motor: sunnyskyusa.com/products/sunn...
    I'm evaluating this motor as an alternative to the Extreme Flight RC recommendation for the Vanquish MKII. The SK3 3542 I initially installed on the Vanquish has performed well; however, when I initially started looking at the Vanquish and the supporting equipment this Sunnysky caught my eye. I wanted to compare it to the SK3 for the benefit of the channel.
    Sunnysky motors have a reputation out there as being quite efficient. This motor appears to support that point of view.
    Bonus: See another APC vs. MAS test.

      You’re welcome. I’ve developed a very favorable opinion of these motors as of late. They’re hard to beat.

    This is a very informative video. I watched it since I wanted to validate my own findings about SunnySky motors. These motors are cheap and their bench performance are impressive. Many thanks! I will be curious to learn more about your flying experience. Cheers!

      Oh I’ve been flying the devil out of this thing and love it. I don’t time my flights so can’t answer that question but on my Vanquish this motor does it all. It’s nice and quiet, pulls like a freight train, motor and battery come down cool to the touch. I’m becoming a big fan of Sunnysky right now.

    Another Pro Tip to help you keep from Cross Threading screws. Once you have the screw on the hole, turn the screw backwards until you see and feel the screw kinda seat itself. Then screw it into the hole the proper direction. Never force a screw, especially into aluminum. The steel screw will strip the threads very easily.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 роки тому

      Yup, good points. They will definitely strip easy.

    Just found your channel and subscribed instantly. Love this type of stuff. Quick question, is there a reason you do not use a power supply? I understand you want to use the batteries that you will use in-flight but would it not be beneficial to use a power supply to have a consistent gauge?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  3 роки тому +1

      A power supply would be too clinical. I'm trying to replicate what the user would get.

    How does this motor compare to the Leopard 3542 1080kv in terms of efficiency/power etc? I'm looking for a motor this size running 4s to go in an fx79 wing for long range efficient cruising. The Leopard is available here in the UK currently. Any data or help much appreciated. 👍

    do you recommend to use the same ESC ( to get similar performance) or can I use a 40 A ESC instead? thank you

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 роки тому +1

      As long as your ESC can deliver the rated amperage, you'll be fine.

    Timely, yesterday I ordered a pair of Sunny Sky 2212 KV1100 motors that Sonic Modell Specs for their Binary to use on an FT Bronco I plan to use for FPV. The Bronco has shorter wingspan and I figure it will be a lot lighter it should be fast and long range :-D

    • @RCVideoReviews

      Sunnysky has a pretty positive reputation from my reading. I've used them on my VAS Banshee, Bix3, and Mini Talon. I was working on Miles/Watt with the Mini Talon when I left the desert and stopped working on long range FPV.
      I like them because they're quiet (good bearings) and efficient (good bearings/good windings) and they're definitely price competitive.

      @@RCVideoReviews Sonic Modell's Binary is getting lots of positive reviews, I ordered the complete electronics package 2 motors, 2 30A ESCs, 6 9g servos and fiddley bits for $91+ delivered from a US warehouse. Seems like a solid set up at a very reasonable cost.
