Comments on Paris - this was exactly my experience. I think more Americans need to do their research and shift their expectations based on "what is polite" in France. Our cultures are different and our expectations are different. I did my best to speak French everywhere I went. Everyone was helpful and lovely and those who could, quickly switched to English to ease our communication. On my first day, I was anxious and stopped somewhere for coffee. The barista could tell I was stressed. She brought me a cookie- and would not accept payment for it. During a slow period at a cafe, a server sat down with me and wrote out places he thought I should see in the next country I was visiting. Two frenchmen offered to give up their seats for me on a train (a transportation strike had caused a problem with seating). I had breakfast with two random french ladies I met in line at a restaurant and we had a wonderful time. If you make an effort, people will typically make an effort for you in return.

I have been to 7 countries and everything you explained on how you treat people in their country is spot on! We were in Paris 3 weeks and from the moment we got there, the people we encountered were amazing. Even though the majority did not speak English, we were treated very well and people were extremely willing to help us with directions. I love the experience of new cultures and learning people are the same no matter where you go. The general rule is... People mostly treat you how you treat them😊we went in January and it snowed, that was magical! Just like seeing the Eiffel Tower in a snow globe

You have to go to Germany from the end of October to December. They have the most amazing Christmas markets I have ever seen and the best food. My family goes all the time and it's amazing. Also, the people in Germany are literally the nicest, most friendly people ever.

Funny, I went to Munich last year and I found the people to be extremely rude. It wasn’t a language barrier issue, they were just very rude and unhelpful. We thought it was just us but our tour guide who was also Irish said he always thought Germans were super nice until he moved there 12 years prior. He spoke fluent German and he still said they were all super rude in general. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Paris was my first international city visited (earlier this year) and I completely fell in love with it and the other parts of France we saw. Nothing like I was told “dirty” “rude” etc. and so SO magical.
France will always be very special to me & we’re returning next year.

I love this city so much. When I first came there I did not understand why everyone loved it so much. I came back, in love, ten years later. I get it now. There is a party every night of the week on every street. French food is insane. The energy is magical. Parisians are polite and funny. Every world culture is shouting it’s name from the rooftops. It’s an incredible place. I got engaged that trip :)

I think you showed up everything that YOU wanted to see; it's not like you took a survey from us all for area choices. They want to see the "dirty' part of Paris, they can take their own vacation. You mentioned Japanese culture; I lived in Japan for a year, and I am very grateful for the experience. The Japanese culture is not only beautiful, but the people are very sweet and helpful, my experience of course. Thank you for this🙂

Paris looks lovely! And I definitely agree about what you said about putting in the time/effort and being kind when you’re in other countries. I think going in with an open mind and not expecting others to mold perfectly to your expectations is super important. If you’re trying and you’re kind and polite, that counts for a lot.

What a wonderful experience you are living, good for you 💜🎄

LOVE your “rant” about cultural norms. Americans are so entitled and it costs nothing to be empathetic and consider what’s “normal” to others. When I visited Europe I realized my face muscles hurt because I was purposely NOT smiling and it felt so weird! I just didn’t want to look like a tourist or invite people to talk to me when I don’t speak the language! 😆
PS- please tell me you got your portrait drawn at Montmartre!!!

12:37 Because showing everyone what the actual side of Paris is like, makes it more relatable. Just showing all the glamorous things that many ppl can’t afford (sometimes) is what makes you un relatable. I think the person just wants you to be more “real” and not like IG people that show off a fake reality.

I recently changed jobs and *finally* had some time to catch up on your videos. My previous role was really taking a toll on me the last 6-8 months and I've been so inspired by you living your best life. I left my previous role, took 2 weeks off, traveled to San Francisco and Iceland, and started a fully remote global-level role with a 25% pay increase and a 5-figure sign-on bonus. I've started taking one yoga class a week and treated myself to a massage. Life is too short.

I haven't travelled internationally, but I do know a few languages. You'd be amazed at how far knowing a couple words in someone's native language makes their day. I just got my hair cut by a woman who I noticed was speaking another language that I could pick out words. I asked her what language she was speaking, and she said romanian. I learned a little bit of basic conversation phrases when I worked at an amusement park years ago so I could ask her how she was doing in romanian. I don't know if she'll remember it but I remember how happy she seemed that I could use some simple phrases.

I totally appreciated your comments on knowing how to work with different cultures, especially in business. I oversee an international team and part of what I train them on is how not to offend the people they're working with. I had one person who not only liked to adopt the accent of the person he was meeting with, but also would constantly interrupt the Asians. And then he wondered why no one wanted to work with him.

Oh I had a great experience in Paris. I mean, maybe it is because we made an effort, when communicating instead of expecting for them, in their country, to speak our language (which is Spanish, and by the way, many waitresses did), that they also made an effort with us, and therefore every interaction in restaurants, museums, and historic landmarks, was really pleasant.

Anywhere that gives you a big bowl of whipped cream is a win in my book! Also LOVED the locks on the gate thing... so cute!

Do you know Andrea Ali and her UA-cam channel? She's a professional make-up artist, you guys could have done a collab.

I adored Paris in November, not too busy & not too cold, I walked around without a jacket for most of the time, I've been twice & would definitely go back again!

You said Edinburgh correctly the first video. I dictate and I said it the exact same way that you did and it still spelled it correctly. I have been there many times and it is pronounced Eden-bur-o. Don’t let other commenters who have never been there tell you differently. I love your videos. I have notifications and as soon as I see one for you I immediately watch it. Thank you for your interesting content.

I've wanted to go to Paris for so long! Hopefully one day I can go, but I also love watching you enjoy your nomad life. With the way I am now, I could never travel so much, but I don't know who I'll be even next year so who knows, maybe I will become the person who is brave & confident enough to travel alone. I'd love to be that person! You **are** that person so you're my role model haha 💕
